  1. I can't help but laugh on the last point.... as convoluted as it took you to explain it, your above sentence is about as succinct as you could have written it. My problems is that every time we talk about welfare cheats and giving money away to poor people for assistance, the same folks that say leave these corporate execs alone are the one's that complain that people on welfare need conditions. IMO you can't have it both ways. I do agree that government can be heavy handed at times, but if you invite Gov't in for help, they should have a say in what gets done. Any other private lender, depending on their risk assessment, would establish their own requirements for a company to adhere to...cuts in employee salaries, hiring freezes and other ideas that are often associated with required restructuring demands by lenders.
  2. LMAO, I couldn't agree more, and he looks dumber than Sara Palin speaks. I wonder if he knows where South Africa is?
  3. Normally I would say yes, it is not the government's place to intervene, but when it affects 25% of the U.S. economy, that is an unrealistic statement. Hoover applied that theory and paid both the political and we paid the economic price. I don't know what would be the best form of government intervention. Executive compensation should also normally be left to share holders. The idea however, that you should pay through the nose for executive compensation is ludicrous unless buying that name which makes such a difference in either sales or enthusiastic workforce productivity increases. However, once taxpayer money gets involved, the government has every right on behalf of taxpayers to limit compensation to executives... My two cents.
  4. Unless you go to Maine and then it is by the pound and fresh off the boat. P.S. The best lobsters from the locals is 1.75 to 2.25.... The start losing their flavor and get a little tough the larger they get!
  5. Sabres v. Boston in 1:37 min. Go Sabres!
  6. The anti-gun crowd wouldn't win anyway. Too many Dems are hunters, check out the Blue Dogs. I use to work for Rep. Colin Peterson (MN).
  7. What, betting the AC line? That is not healthy in the long run.
  8. On Obama, I am not sure on the facts, I heard him say that on the campaign trail. But you could be right on him going to the middle. I am still not a great enthusiast of the man. I am just a partisan Democrat. Don't confuse that with being just a liberal. Call me a lemming if you want. My default position is with the Democratic Party, I don't hide that. On issues though, I can float all over the map and on some I am conflicted.... However, on guns, I support the 2nd amendment. Wish everyone who ones a gun would have to take NRA's gun safety program once every 5 years and consistent background checks on all guns sales. But other than that... I wouldn't do much more... People who know how to handle them rarely screw up unless they drink and shoot. DWShooting should be a felony and a loss of second amendment rights.
  9. Actually should have, I was much better at math and physics than I am a writer.
  10. And Max is playing like Max finally after about a year!
  11. Prophetic... or just pathetic... but yeh... Jeez Kotalik has a gun!
  12. Sabres tied it up by McCarthur, his 6th. Both teams are flying!
  13. I have to go defend you on this one. At little harsh maybe, but I have been around guns all my life and as long as they are treated with respect and kept away from young children, they are both tools and interesting collectors items.
  14. I did too, worked my way through with tuition benefits, in the mail room, business office and then managing NIH grants, taught myself accounting. I couldn't afford it otherwise. I was Poly Sci, minor Econ and two classes short of a minor in Stat. Did my science reg with Astronomy, all physics, it was easy.
  15. P.S. On the second amendment, I don't want guns in the hands of criminals, but I want the 2nd amendment preserved. Not sure, other than background checks, what else can be done, but it should include gun shows. P.S. There is a good Gun Show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds regularly and they don't allow cameras.
  16. I don't think that is what he said on the campaign trail so I am not concerned at this moment. He said there has to be a way to preserve the rights of gun owners in the country to hunt etc practice their 2nd amendment right while ending guns getting into the hands of criminals (paraphrased) But he was not specific other than that? I am kind a taking a wait and see approach but you go on raising the fear deal.
  17. I did that at Geneseo before I transfered into GW.
  18. Even if you are dedicated to law school, consider going to DC, to GTOWN, GW, Catholic or American and get an internship on the Hill. You can also do a semester at American through UB and intern on the Hill. They offer some sort of program with other Universities. It will give you an intense taste of DC and politics and expose you to a very good group of lawyers on either side of the aisle.
  19. I could have told you that... I know a few folks that went there and transferred out when I lived in VA. They said it was all about Football and not much else. What is your major?
  20. Then make your own and recycle like the olden days!
  21. Gun companies exploiting the fear for profit! Called RW stimulus.
  22. Agreed. I don't mind subject matter I disagree with, my sons will be exposed to it sooner or later, just that I want that teacher to respect what my son or daughter believes as long as they are respectful when stating their opinion in class and that only applies to grammar school. In high school all bets are off, I want my children to think and be able to stand up for themselves against any kind of criticism and not lose faith in their values.
