Wow. So much nerd-raging for this choice. Affleck is an accomplished actor and has been doing really well in his last few roles. Not only that, but like you, he's also a huge comic book nerd and knows the source material (The Dark Knight Returns from which this film will be based on) incredibly well. In DKR, Batman is old and beaten down. I think Affleck can portray that.

The Viking vs. Redskin comparison is laughable. If I walked up to a Native American and said: "Hey Redskin!" I'd probably get punched in the face. If I walk up to a Nordic person and say: "Waddup Viking!" he'd probably high-five me. Why? The conspiracy theorists are coming out for this one. I've heard many comments around the office that this seems "fishy". How do the police prove that they were in a shootout with these two and that they were armed to the teeth? The one thing that I am hearing is: "there is no proof!" And in this day of "can you trust the media/government?" it's hard not to blame them for wanting more information.

IMO, the actual bombs themselves were quite amateur in their design and build. They were crude. However, the sophistication came in the timing of the two blasts, and the possibility that he used a cellular detonator meant he was monitoring the race to cause significant impact.

The fact that no a-holes have claimed responsibility for this attack makes me think this was the work of a lone madman.
