Walterfootball.com just killing the Bills for this draft.
todd replied to Thurman8125's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What an idiot. The guy complains the Bills didn't draft a QB because they had a need for one. How about this: 1. DL - possibly best in the draft. Bills horrible on D, and stroud cut. Drafted for NEED. 2. CB - Drayton Florence is a FA and McGee is getting old. We're in a passing league. Drafted for NEED. 3. ILB - Poz is a FA. Worst D in NFL. Drafted for NEED. 4. S - Whitner is a FA. Worst D in the NFL. Drafted for NEED. 4b. OT - No solid RT. Drafted for NEED. 5. RB - No 3rd RB for depth. Drafted for NEED. 6. ILB- See Round 3. Remember, a 3-4 hybrid requires good ILBs. 7. CB - See 2nd round pick. Two spots to fill, two draft picks. 7b. Um, who could ever complain about who you select with your 2nd 7th round pick? I know! A moron would! Basically, this guy wrote the article when he had his period. B word, B word, B word about nothing. Total whiny little kitty who formed an opinion before trying to analyze it. -
Glaring weaknesses addressed, glaring holes remain

There were only 9 picks, ya know. -
It's pretty embarrassing, reading this board sometimes...

Exactly. It is marketing by the NFL to paint planes with NFL team logos & colors. I saw a redskins one once. Pilot looked like danny snyder and he was an a-hole.

Official Non-Bills Draft Thread

Kiper bases his opinions on rumors, his contacts on teams and stats. I prefer to listen to someone who knows how to watch tape. -
That article was absolute garbage.

Modrak - beyond "gag me with a spoon"
todd replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not an inside source. It was Chris Brown. I emailed him about it and he answered. The email exchange was before DJ was fired, early in the 2009 season. I understand the skepticism, I'd be skeptical myself. -
Modrak - beyond "gag me with a spoon"
todd replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know what you mean. Every team has a bad draft or two each decade. But looking at the Bills drafts, I can't say they've had anything above merely average. To Modrak's credit, I don't get a sense that he's been the guy who pulled the trigger on the picks. I know with great certainty that Jauron was the one who insisted on Aaron Maybin, so he gets a pass there. But other than that, I question his ability to identify and then LOBBY for high-round picks. I don't get a sense that he's very effective in the draft room. I do, however, get the sense that Buddy Nix knows what he's doing. He's been involved in some very good drafts over the years. I don't get the sense that he'd have traded a first rounder for Drew Bledsoe - especially to a division foe. I don't get the sense that he would have traded back up to get Losman or McCargo. -
And Marijuana is a schedule 1 drug like heroin, and cocaine and morphine are schedule 2. Stupid. And nicotine, one of the most STUPID of all drugs to take (yes, that means you smokers), isn't really even ranked.

Ok, well. Yep. Right. OK, yeah. Sure. Hmmmm. Then, ok. But then, right. But if ... nah.

This is a joke, right? Or some type of odd attempt at trolling. Right?

Paea blows away lift record at combine
todd replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When has the number of reps you do translated directly to being a great NFL player? The bench press should NEVER change where someone is drafted. Actually, I think they should cancel the combine because it is meaning less. They should just have a series of interviews at a hotel. -
Watching Dan Snyder is a lesson on how not to build a team. You don't do it with a bunch of high priced free agents. You build from within, drafting well and filling needs with FAs. The Steelers do it, Packers, NE, Indy, etc. You can buy a team by getting FAs, but it doesn't have the long-term success. So the lesson of both Ralph and Snyder is to build your team by drafting well. The Skins and the Bills are examples of two ways to not build a team. The Bills by drafting poorly and scatterbrained spending on dumb FAs, the Redskins by drafting poorly and spending on FAs simply to make a splash. Ignore idiot fans who want you to sign everyone (including some idiot fans in this thread) and do the right thing.

Im Confused about the Shawn Merriman signing
todd replied to JPicc2114's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Given that Buffalo has a huge need at LB, are vastly under the cap, and the potential reward from this risky signing is huge, I don't see why even the most negative people have an issue with it. The only argument I could see is that the money could be spent elsewhere, but that argument is incredibly stupid given the $$ buffalo is under the cap by any measurement. This won't restrict buffalo from making any FA move they need to. So your post is destroyed, and exposed as bitching for the sake of bitching. -
Modrak gets endorsement from RW & Buddy Nix
todd replied to The Senator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is hard for me to call him exonerated, because he's been involved in some of the worst drafting in NFL history. However, I do know DJ was the one who picked Maybin. I know Brandon & Levy made the final calls when they were there, and it is clear who pulled names in the Donahoe era. Look, if the guy is that good at evaluating players, I would expect him to lobby harder if he feels a bad choice is being made. Not only that, if I thought my opinion wasn't being taken seriously at a job, I'd quit. I still say he needs to take some of the blame. -
Should Heads Roll if we don't make the Playoffs?
todd replied to Glory Bound's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a good idea in theory, but isn't really in line with reality. Given a different roster - say a team like Miami - I'd say an ultimatum is in order. With a roster like Buffalo's, I don't care what coach you have - you aren't going to the playoffs and you aren't going to turn it around in one year. Period. Probably not two years, either. Is it unfortunate that it comes to this? Is it frustrating to see years of mismanagement and poor drafting leak into a new regime's tenure? Yes and yes. But that's why you fire the other guys and bring new guys in. It would be really, really stupid to bring new guys in and give them two years to turn things around into a championship team. That, my friend, would be horrible mismanagement. You just don't fix years of blown first-round picks in a year or two. Doesn't happen. The goal is to show significant improvement the first two years, and contend for a playoff spot in year 3. By that time the new Regime's draft picks and FAs are starting to pay off. If the Bills take a step back and go 2-14 next year, that isn't improvement and you make a move. -
Prepare yourself, the Jets will win it all
todd replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If it comes to it, Sanchez will not be able to deal with the Packer's D. He's clearly the least talented QB in the playoffs. I'm not convinced he'll deal with the Steeler's D very well, either. He's really average. Also - the Jets have nobody on their front 7 the caliber of Clay Matthews. I predict the jets will get behind and Sanchez will need to throw, and he'll be pummeled. Sanchez is very average. -

todd replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's great and everything, but the truth is Aaron Rogers is an amazing QB. Sanchez is not. I think it comes down to the QB, and there really isn't a comparison. -
I'd like the draft to start in round 4. Then you can alternate sides. So next you'd pick round 5, then round 3, then round 6, then round 2, then round 7, then finally round 1. Once Kiper slots the picks in their appropriate spots, all that is left to do is trade picks to get what you want depending on what Kiper says is the appropriate selection for the slot.

No, that isn't an article, it is an editorial probably paid for by the NFLPA.
-
I'm sorry, but that sounds suspiciously like a PR piece for the NFLPA. Whaaaa! The owners want testing for HGH! Whaaa, the owners want a rookie cap like every other league! Whaaa whaaa! I call BS. Not that I'm on the league's side, but that is not journalism. It doesn't look at both sides of the situation.

Sometimes you've got to believe what the coaches are telling you. Sometimes.
