What Did You Do With Your Tax Cut!
DC Tom replied to Chef Jim's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I want one. No, actually I want to build one with a Raspberry PI, on board my next build (a Red Special copy). -
Faith is a hell of a thing.

I don't care, I'm just too lazy to put you on ignore.

Upgraded my internet connection so I can call people idiots that much faster. -
It's not a big deal. There, I said it. I feel the same way about this that I do the Library at Alexandria, The Frauenkirche, Monte Cassino, The House of Wisdom, etc. Time conquers all.

Game of Thrones - And Now Our Watch Has Ended!

If you're going to go by the books, they also make it clear that he has more of the physical characteristics of a Targaryen than a Lannister. And there's the very clear statement by Tywin that, instead of drowning Tyrion at birth after Joanna died, he "raised you as my own." That's at the very lest an obvious statement that Tyrion is not Tywin's son. Despite having no other heir to the house (since Jaimie is foresworn from inheritance as a member of the Kingsguard), Tywin categorically refuses to acknowledge to Tyrion any form of parentage. And there's the the whole "the dragon has three heads" thing. There's Daenerys and Jon...who's the third? And just as an aside...Tyrion killed his mother Joanna in childbirth. Just like Jon (Lyanna Stark) and Daenerys (Rhaella). No foreshadowing? It's one of the most effectively foreshadowed twists in the series. -
April Movies: Avengers, Shazam!, Hellboy, & Pet Sematary

"Universe is in ruins" isn't something I expected to hear until Trump was reelected... I was going to say there's no way in hell that I'd be caught dead at that movie...but then I had second thoughts. So...what's it worth to you all for me to torture myself with two hours of ice rat footage? C'mon, TBD...pool your money, make me an offer. -

Also, given that dragons tend to not like strangers, it establishes that Jon's a Targaryen well before Sam tells him. And who else has approached dragons without being burnt to a crisp? -

I thought that exchange was acutely painful. No one in their right mind stops to shout out "He's got blue eyes" if they think they're facing a wight. Which makes it nothing more than an egregiously contrived straight line for the punch line...and it was so egregiously contrived, it effectively ruined the punch line. Laziest screen-writing I've seen since...Flash Gordon, maybe. -
He won't need international help. Catholics worldwide are going to donate a ton of money for rebuilding.

Pelosi's going to end up switching parties, if she believes that. And I'll still ***** hate her. -
It demands consideration. It does not demand belief. Which makes sense...but at some point, the risk-reward calculation tips in favor of doing so. That point is probably now, as the building's just about a total loss anyway. EDIT: and as I post that, I get a notification from NBC that "the structure" is saved. Which, coming from NBC, probably means they nuked the site from orbit...

And it's not even difficult: do you taxes, compare your 2018 return to your 2017 return. Divide your taxes paid by your income for each year. Is 2018 less than 2017? Congratulations, you got a tax cut.

As long as the bells stay intact. If those fall, the towers go with them. The largest bell weighs 13 tons. And they're held by huge wooden beams. The bells themselves may be a loss anyway - warped from the heat. Yeah...of course, it could be a deliberate act. But there's no evidence of that, and how often do we hear of fires started by renovation work? Speculation is worse than useless here - it's demonization of a group of people.
-
Accidents can happen outside of normal working hours.
-
That's actually why I'm not too broken up about Notre Dame. It's sad, yes...but do you have any idea how many medieval treasures were destroyed by allied fire-bombings? I just can't get too worked up about one going up accidentally.
-
Most likely accidental. My second thought, when I heard it, was "What, was it under renovation?" It's too common for renovation work to start fires. (My first thought, honestly, was "How can I tie this to Pizzagate?")
