No...I think SUNY should change how it funds its schools, so that some money made from athletics can be poured back into athletics, and not totally used for academics.

My thoughts which I shared with the administration is to get Penn St to play @ UB at the Ralph. The fans would be 90% Penn St, and probably sell out the game, but at least UB can use it to recruit. I suggested these schools as schools I think would attract a large enough crowd to fill seats (again most fans would be there for the visiting team). Penn St. Michigan OSU Wisconsin Many of these programs will play on the road for an appearance fee, which UB would need to invest as a cost of recruiting. Unfortunately with the SUNY budget tight, it will not happen.

The basketball did not break through....until they ditch Witherspoon, this team will be no better than a 15-16 win team in their best years. After talking with people at UB, it looks like unless UB can recruit another strong class they will be mediorce. The administration had been against allowing UB to play some home games at the Ralph to attract bigger named programs to play against UB. The opponents you play helps recruit the talent you get.

Look at Oakland...they put Gallery in a place where he can help the team...left guard, than RT and eventually LT. I think TD let the idea of drafting McGahee overshadow the true needs of the team.

Craig Cirrbus screwed the pooch prior to Hofner. Do not give the BS about the WNY talent not stacking up, because they are nestled between schools like Syracuse and Michigan which have figured out how to recruit (obviously!) and I do not expect them to out recruit those school. But they should be able to out recruit Ohio U, Miami of Ohio and Eastern Michigan. I think the problem is that Buffalo is willing to take other programs scraps. For example, UB recruited 3 kids from the MD area recently, none of which were offered Div 1-A scholarships, but the HS programs they played in are well respected. In discussions with the administration, the school is commited to building a solid Div 1-A program, but will not do it at the expense of building academics. Furthmore and unfortunately, SUNY continues to support schools like Stony Brook, Binghamton and Albany, instead of naming UB the State University of New York (see states like Michigan, Pennslyvania, California, NJ, etc.).

I am sorry...but who was on that OL? I do not think any of them would be close to HOF quality O-linemen. Do not get me wrong, I think Ballard, Ricther, Hull and Davis were a great unit...but individually they were not that great...It is NOT the offensive lines fault...it is the inability to use the draft wisely to find players who can form a solid OL.

I am not a big fan of Donahoe...but I will say this...Dec 26th...when we play the 49ers, we can see how well two teams in cap hell do against each other. Remember, the 49ers were in worse than us, their Donahue purged the roster, and took some loses...let's see where they are. When comparing TD, you need to compare him to teams that were/are in similar shape when he took over as GM. These teams include 49ers, Broncos (though they cheated the salary cap and got caught), Lions and Bears. I believe we might be the worst team of that bunch.

I concur....the prep is the worse part. The actual procedure is relatively painless. I would have gone to work after, but the Versed and Demirol cocktail did not allow me to drive...and I could not convince the wife...

Whose fault is that? Did MM misjudge Drew's ability? Did McNally misjudge the talent he had to work with? Did TD not put together a very good team? Somebody is at fault, and I think MM is afraid the press will find the culprit.

I am more concerned about how close we keep the games against the Jets, Pats, Seahawks and Rams....unless this shipped is righted...and quickly, we might have some hugh blowouts on the record this season.

If I accept your analysis, which is superb, how many other GMs have so many high draft pick busts. At some point I would love to see the analysis of other teams and their draft day futility.

I disagree.....because even if Losman is a top 5 QB, you never know if the Bills could have drafted or acquired through FA another top 5 QB, and still had a high draft pick next year to draft a real OL.

The key is that Oakland puts him where they need him....Guard or Tackle...Left or right side....The Bills should think about the same thing with Big Mike...if he is a better guard, put him there.
