Losman's still hurt...
Spiderweb replied to Sen. John Blutarsky's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You've obviously never watched Matthews play. The best thing he could do for the Bills would be to continue carrying the clip board. -

I agree that the initial call had a snow balls chance of reversal at the time. From the replays I saw, I was left only with the feeling, "damn Travis change those spikes". Hadn't he tripped or slipped, he would have scored as was posted on this board elsewhere. All his power was lost in the "slip", which seemed to be a problem for him all day long. Maybe Travis is another of those "turf" backs only.

You may wish to take a bit of your own advice. Re-read your posts of late. Your covered in one of your two categories above. Post your opinions freely, as we all do, but get off your own "high horse" (as the saying goes IIRC) from time to time and allow for those with different opinions. My God, I guess the free exchange of thoughts, opinions, and yes, emotions is no longer tolerated, or at least when they don't coincide with your own. -
Shelton has flat out sucked so far. Seems clear to me why he was out of football last year. Admittedly, I liked what I saw in Lawton far more than anything this Shelton slug has shown. What good is experience if it's bad experience. I still say, and hope, he won't finish the year on the Bills. Want blocking? Put Tucker in at FB. At least he might hit someone.

(OT) Oprah car winners hit with hefty tax
Spiderweb replied to gflande1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We all understand that "gift" and "prize winnings" are taxable, and while I do not have a problem in general with paying taxes on "prizes", why in the world should the government be able to tax a gift, of any size? Why shouldn't one be able to give their child $25,000 or $50,000 tax free (gift) to help them buy a house, or even "just because"? To accumulate that "gift", many taxes were already paid two, three, four times or more in various ways, etc. Same goes for inheritance taxes. Doesn't matter the amount, just because it transfers from one person to another, in the land of the free, the government should not have "dibs" on any of it. Sure, there exist some legal ways to get around a chunk of the "gift" taxes, (make it a loan and sign promisory note with very low payments, etc), but why must one have to weasel around the tax code at all? We all understand that the Govenment needs capital to fund the programs , roads, security, etc., we all want, but enough is enough. Damn, I sound a bit too conservative here, even for my own tastes. -

Obviously too young to remember the 68 to 71 Bills, or the 76 to 78 Bills, or the 84 to 86 Bills. We've had some pretty bad teams and this one, as frustrating as this team is, isn't even close to being as bad as some of those teams were. Clearly our troubles lies with our offense primarily, but here's to believing this group of coaches will get it straightened out and next year realize that we need a couple solid O-line guys to make us truly effective offensively. Long year, maybe, but I'll be still the ever faithful Bills fan. Can't wait to see JP take the reins too. -

(OT) I'm a Yankees fan all the way BUT...
Spiderweb replied to USMCBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rolen has been a solid 280-295 hitter all along. Power (25-30 dingers a year). 100 plus RBI. What gives him the edge is his glove, which is phenominal. Chipper can't match Rolens glove even if a better overall hitter. -
Sam had his day and looked finished to me last year. What little I saw of Lawton in the preseason, was far more than what this turd Shelton has shown so far. No blocks of note, doesn't catch the ball or run with it well. Looks a bit clumsy. Where's the "speed" he was supposed to have for a blocking back?
-
He played miserably. Far too often his throws looked like ground ball's on the A's infield...When he wasn't low he was behind or high. Only a handful of accurate tosses today. As a rough guess, I'd say 2-or 3 of the sacks were simply holding the ball to long with obvious blitzers bearing down on him. Missed a wide open Neufield on one of them.
-
And he too played behind a horrible O-line...Should be a match made in .....oh damn.
-
Small consolation, but did you by chance get to see Miami's o-line tonight. They made our boys look good by comparison. Gonna be a long year in Miami too!

[OT]Need help...buying a new camcorder
Spiderweb replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Panasonic has a 3-ccd MiniDV for around $550.00 if you shop around, you might even find a slightly better price. Model: PV-GS120. Been using it for approx a month now and so far, very good. I did try a cheaper single CCD unit from JVC that simply didn't take very good video. Much happier with the Panny. Remember, you get what you pay for, in most cases. -
The kid Nugent played High School ball here just outside Dayton (Centerville, Ohio) and was a phenom even then. Here's to wishing the local kid well.
-
Minivans are the best choice. Sure, no points for style or prestige, but are excellent for families, are configurable for hauling quite a bit of cargo, and have gas mileage far superior to Trks & SUV's. Had a 94 Cravan, and now have a 03 Grand Caravan. With the 3.3 liter engine I gotten a hair over 27 mpg on my last trip to Buffalo. SUV's are too expensive, and too expensive to operate. If you get just get by the "status" thing, Minivans simply make the best sense in most, maybe not all, but most cases. When I bought the 03 Grand Caravan, I too wanted an SUV but after all the research and the costs, I just could justify buying one. Happy I didn't too.

Hindisght being 20/20, had we re-signed Hollis last year, we would have had a kicker on the pay role out for the season with back problems. What I question is TD's mentality towards these kickers. Good ones are worth their weight in gold, just ask the Pats. I also question the Bills ability to properly assess a place kicker. Shayne Graham replaced that Charlie Brown wanna be Jake Ariens, then he's let go. OK, we got Hollis, a step forward, Shayne Graham moves on and has become a consistent and accurate kicker for the Bungles. Hollis isn't resigned so we move on to Lindell (who doesn't seem to have much leg strength despite his size, and lacks consistency). Lindell is a step backwards and if Hollis is healthy, he's be a guy we could use. I still think he showed up at camp to keep his name in TD's mind, for what it was worth anyway. -
Let the prayers begin. From my family to yours. May God bless...

I don't think he looked timid at all against Jax. In fact his fight cost us his fumble at the 7. he tried to get more yards. Moulds is back, you'll see

the most blame for this loss?
Spiderweb replied to Typical TBD Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nice perspective, and I agree. Yet, Bledsoe does seem at times to lack the fire, the self confidence., the will. I kind of see K Helmut's point, but Drew didn't lose this game. -
Has anyone mentioned London Fletcher

You had to bring up Luckett's name. He and Coleman STOLE that New England game from us 4 - 5 years ago. I'll always dislike those two idiots. -
Milloy was missed...Wire is terrible like Lindell
Spiderweb replied to Rudyc80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The earliest we might see Malloy would be after the bye, for game three, but something tells me it could be another game or two. He's not a young buck anymore. Healing takes a bit longer with each passing year. And yes, he was MISSED !!! Wire is toast. End the experiment. -
And with a week 3 bye, you'll have two weeks to get "up" for game three. Unfortunately, valium won't do it.
