  1. As long as they had the threat of a run coming at them, the Pats "D" line and backers were held at bay, but once we were forced at the end to go to the pass, they came hard and destroyed the O-line. How many times were we going to let Harrison come free inside the tackles and have a free run at Bledsoe. That he was able to complete any passes at the end was nothing short of a miracle. In obvious pass situations, with both Teague and Jennings out, we were dead in the water. Price barely does an adequate job at RT, and simply stinks at LT. Jennings is truly our best pass blocker, and actually is a good one in this dept period. I hate to say it, but between all the dumb penalties (another first down run on 3rd & short called back for holding - argh!) and Bledsoe still showing inaccurate throws too often, coupled with him and Moulds being out of sync twice (how can that be at this point?), we just didn't take advantage of the opportunities we had. While Bledsoe really is pissing everyone off, it's tough to hold him totally accountable when there seems to be one or two guys getting free runs at him far too often, especially on every key pass.
  2. When you put forth the effort, you make some good points, but with you one never knows who your getting. No one is all over the map as much as you can be. And while I agree about the incessant flaming around here relative to how it brings this board down, ICE, look in the mirror, you are one of the biggest flamers on this board. You insult virtually anyone who crosses your path, name calling, coded and blatant profanity, and now you're pointing out (in general) everyone else's character flaws. Pot & kettle, Pot & Kettle. As for the playing of JPL, I agree, but if by some miracle Bledsoe rediscovers the fountain of youth and begins to play like a real QB with positive results (wins), it won't happen. However, from the looks of his first couple of games, he just might find himself holding the clip board again for his understudy before too long. In a losing season, his job is tenuous at best. A few wins and this is all moot.
  3. Why "float" a check anyway? Major Credit cards already give you a 20-25 day "float" anyway. I agree with the pulling out the check book at a store, or the like. Drives me crazy too. I guess I'm just impatient though.
  4. That the pressure is coming from the outside is no surprise, that's where the bulk of pressure comes from all across the league. Last I recall, the greatest pass rushers the game has produced are DE's and a few LB's (blitzes or edge rushers - recall Paup's big year? Outside rushes). With that said, Williams surely needs to pick his game up a notch, and there does seem to be clear evidence that his heart isn't in the game at this point. I fear he;ll pull a Ricky and just pack it in in a couple years and waste that god given talent all together leaving us high and dry. Here's to hoping he decides football is what he wants to excel at and do for as long as he can, but so far his actions are not supporting this hope.
  5. I too have been saying the same thing, except I've called Shelton anything but a bruiser. He hasn't shown me that. In fact, he looks very shaky in the pass game (blocking and catching, routes, etc). After the past couple games, from what I saw, he should be lucky if he's still on the roster by game 9 (giving him half a season). Any idea where Lawton has gone?
  6. Give it a Thursday afternoon listen....(sorry if someone else has posted this before). Frankie
  7. Well said. I still recall the beatings Kelly took against Pittsburg on Monday night the last years of his career. Those games alone must have taken a year off his career. I also recall how he was in the face of his O-line all night, but it made no difference. Our line has been bad since the early 90's and all the bench fodder that's been used to make a line afterward has led to the downward spiral. This began under Levy and has just continued year after year.
  8. Fond of Travis, are ya? One thing Travis seems to have around the league is respect for his running, even if you refuse to give him any. Yet, I must agree that his pass catching skills are average at best, and his blocking (blitz pickup) is a serious detriment to the team. While his "official" fumbles may read zero, every time he takes a hit, I hold my breath for a split second watching for the ball ro come loose. He's a tough runner, but seems to lack vision. He's got great heart, but seems a bit short in the IQ area. What Travis is can be best described as one dimensional at this point. He takes a beating, behind an O-Line that clearly isn't the best, and has managed to rack up 2750 (approx) yards over the past two years. That isn't bad. I don't expect his game to change much either. What that said, I'm hopeful that McGahee can overcome the knee and show the potential he has as his skill set shows multiple areas of strength. He could be the real RB weapon we need. While of lesser note, what bothers me more about the RB-FB situation in Buffalo is that Lawton looked good in the preseason and was said to have had a good camp. yet we kept Shelton who I've yet see make a decent block. He whiffs on Blitz pick ups, and doesn't look like he'll offer much as an outlet receiver either. then theres Joe Burns, who must be a special teams maniac as his RB, and now FB, skills are non-existent. With Shaud Williams proving himself in camp and the preseason, I thought Burns would be history, but alas he must have pix of TD in a very embarassing light.
  9. I served in the Air Force back in the late 70's and was stationed at Patrick AFB (lived off base in Cocoa Beach). If I recall correctly, the base only averages around 6-9 feet above sea level. Here's to praying for everyone there (you too) stays safe.
  10. You just don't get it. Matthews has never been more than the second coming of Joe Dufek. As poorly as Bledsoe played last week, he's still the Bills best bet. Replace Bledsoe? Sure, but to do that you have to have some sort of option. Matthews is the anti-option. You may be ready to throw in the towel afetr two loses by a combined total of 6 points, but thank God the Bills Brass aren't. Unless the Bills re-coop, we may see Losman yet this year, late in the season. At least then it would be for the future.
  11. You've obviously never watched Matthews play. The best thing he could do for the Bills would be to continue carrying the clip board.
  12. Wow, an optimist !!!! GO BILLS !!!!
  13. I agree that the initial call had a snow balls chance of reversal at the time. From the replays I saw, I was left only with the feeling, "damn Travis change those spikes". Hadn't he tripped or slipped, he would have scored as was posted on this board elsewhere. All his power was lost in the "slip", which seemed to be a problem for him all day long. Maybe Travis is another of those "turf" backs only.
  14. You may wish to take a bit of your own advice. Re-read your posts of late. Your covered in one of your two categories above. Post your opinions freely, as we all do, but get off your own "high horse" (as the saying goes IIRC) from time to time and allow for those with different opinions. My God, I guess the free exchange of thoughts, opinions, and yes, emotions is no longer tolerated, or at least when they don't coincide with your own.
  15. Shelton has flat out sucked so far. Seems clear to me why he was out of football last year. Admittedly, I liked what I saw in Lawton far more than anything this Shelton slug has shown. What good is experience if it's bad experience. I still say, and hope, he won't finish the year on the Bills. Want blocking? Put Tucker in at FB. At least he might hit someone.
  16. We all understand that "gift" and "prize winnings" are taxable, and while I do not have a problem in general with paying taxes on "prizes", why in the world should the government be able to tax a gift, of any size? Why shouldn't one be able to give their child $25,000 or $50,000 tax free (gift) to help them buy a house, or even "just because"? To accumulate that "gift", many taxes were already paid two, three, four times or more in various ways, etc. Same goes for inheritance taxes. Doesn't matter the amount, just because it transfers from one person to another, in the land of the free, the government should not have "dibs" on any of it. Sure, there exist some legal ways to get around a chunk of the "gift" taxes, (make it a loan and sign promisory note with very low payments, etc), but why must one have to weasel around the tax code at all? We all understand that the Govenment needs capital to fund the programs , roads, security, etc., we all want, but enough is enough. Damn, I sound a bit too conservative here, even for my own tastes.
  17. Obviously too young to remember the 68 to 71 Bills, or the 76 to 78 Bills, or the 84 to 86 Bills. We've had some pretty bad teams and this one, as frustrating as this team is, isn't even close to being as bad as some of those teams were. Clearly our troubles lies with our offense primarily, but here's to believing this group of coaches will get it straightened out and next year realize that we need a couple solid O-line guys to make us truly effective offensively. Long year, maybe, but I'll be still the ever faithful Bills fan. Can't wait to see JP take the reins too.
  18. Not me, He is SORELY missed.
  19. Rolen has been a solid 280-295 hitter all along. Power (25-30 dingers a year). 100 plus RBI. What gives him the edge is his glove, which is phenominal. Chipper can't match Rolens glove even if a better overall hitter.
  20. Sam had his day and looked finished to me last year. What little I saw of Lawton in the preseason, was far more than what this turd Shelton has shown so far. No blocks of note, doesn't catch the ball or run with it well. Looks a bit clumsy. Where's the "speed" he was supposed to have for a blocking back?
  21. He played miserably. Far too often his throws looked like ground ball's on the A's infield...When he wasn't low he was behind or high. Only a handful of accurate tosses today. As a rough guess, I'd say 2-or 3 of the sacks were simply holding the ball to long with obvious blitzers bearing down on him. Missed a wide open Neufield on one of them.
  22. And he too played behind a horrible O-line...Should be a match made in .....oh damn.
  23. Small consolation, but did you by chance get to see Miami's o-line tonight. They made our boys look good by comparison. Gonna be a long year in Miami too!
  24. Panasonic has a 3-ccd MiniDV for around $550.00 if you shop around, you might even find a slightly better price. Model: PV-GS120. Been using it for approx a month now and so far, very good. I did try a cheaper single CCD unit from JVC that simply didn't take very good video. Much happier with the Panny. Remember, you get what you pay for, in most cases.
