Talk coordinators all you want
Spiderweb replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sam Adams a bit too slow? For his size, his initial burst is amazingly quick. What I don't see is Sam being willing to give him self up and tie up multiple blockers, which is required by a nose tackle in a 3-4. Also, when watching Sam, as big as he is, double teams generally neutralize him fairly well. The Bills do not currently have the proper personnel (DL's) to run a decent 3-4. Every time this subject comes up, it always ends with the same conclusion. It's starting to get old. -
Democrats a big recipient of Abrahamoff money

In so much as I agree in return, if decorum means to replicate the manner of DeLay, Lott, etc., then we're all missing the point. If shrills were to be counted, I'd agree that the Dems have the current edge, but isn't that always the case as it applies to the minority party? History clearly states it is. The meanness and the attacks of one's personal character has never been just a single parties tendency. They both play the game and it drives good people away, both in terms of who runs for office, and with regard to voter turnout. I'll alway maintain that right or left extremes, or even heavily leaning toward one or the other, is a negative that we as a country must avoid, even if we seem incapable of doing so now. Moderate, inclusive, thoughtful, pragmatic action, and with a vision for the future would better serve this nation. We also must get by the immediate gratification syndrome. Sometimes the best solutions or agendas take time to reach fulfillment. Discussing politics, in general, usually raises my blood pressure and rarely serves any real effect or change on even individuals, let alone our greater society. Yet, I perservere. I believe strongly as long as the current state of politics in the USA remains, meaning that as long as our elected officials spend far more time on gaining and maintaining their power, rather than on the real business of America, we're going to continue our downward slide as it pertains to economics, health care, our standard of living, etc. Nothing will go unscathed. This board alone only furthers my point with the name calling, ridiculous clinging to beliefs in definace of all logic and fact, the spinning, etc. Again, neither side here escapes from this and this will continue to be the roadblock that prevents us from properly addressing the real issues of the day. -
The Assassination of the Character of Jack Murtha
Spiderweb replied to Mickey's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Was he attacked on his service (Dole)? If not, you have no point. He was a doddering old man when he was running. He also had one of the longer Political careers based on doing next to nothing. And that is different than our current President in what way? His rep as a party boy, drinker, alleged coke user, and womanizer seems to have even one-upped old slick Willie. His "military" service (Guard/Reserves) record is spotty at it's absolute best, and was little more than draft dodging itself to begin with. That's how the privileged legally escaped real military service. Oh I forgot, GW was born again.......right. -

Sadly, there exists a Howard Dean. As much as I dislike the direction we taken under the current administration, the opposition must do better than put up a shmoe like him to be their dissenting voice...... -
Back in 1983, when Fergie had probably his best day as a Bill QB and threw for 419 yards in a shoot out win against the Dolphins, the opposing QB was a kid named Marino, who threw for over 300 yards IIRC. Marino, played in 11 games as a rookie, threw for approx 2200 yards, 20-TDS and only 6 -INTS. By the way, he completed over 58% of his passes. In only his second year, he threw for over 5000 yards, and 48-TDs As much as I disliked Marino, he came ready to play from day one......

Silent Thread for Jerry Gray....
Spiderweb replied to In space no one can hear's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Adios Ryan? How a bout Adios Mr. Chris Kelsay? He did far less than Ryan Denney, with more snaps, and can't play special teams (Denney can). I'll take Denney over Kelsay any day. There, I feel better..... -

I guess he just ran out of "Steam"...... -
So glad you do not miss Ruben Brown. Although that's more than a bit strange in that he is light years better than Villerial and Anderson, and he has been durable too. In fact, I watched Ruben a bit in Chicago's playoff game and he can still run block very well. His pass protection remains adequate too. Yeah, I don't miss Ruben either. We've got Villerial and Anderson....NOT!!!!

Count Riemersma as one of many who was VERY bitter

Actually, it was that TD wanted JR to take a cut, and JR refused. That was the end of JR in Buffalo at the end of the year. In this case, TD was correct. JR may have been a nice guy and di on occasion make some nice grabs, but he also dropped more than his fair share the last couple years in Buffalo, and did zip when he left. I don't recall Pittsburgh giving him all that much either. It certainly was not a big signing. -
Actually, Big Ted, I believe, can still give a defense some valuable snaps, if not for any other reason than he is huge and takes up tremendous space, and multiple blockers. If he could be signed reasonably cheap, and whether Oakland will be able to cut him, contract considerations and all. We'll see what happens. Nice to hear he'd like to come back though.

Actually, the board seemed more in favor for JP than Holcomb, at least that s how I saw it. Many thought Holcomb did give us a better chance to win right now, but majority of those also agreed he's not the answer for the Bills at QB. JP lost valuable playing time the last 3 games while TD & MM were frantically trying to save their "butts".

Actually, he will be 38 in April.

Soprano says the terms were 17.50 per hour, full medical, dental, and vision. A nice 401K and a small company sponsored pension. He also stated that a stipulation was added by the Bills that states, "no more cheeseburgers for the team prior to games".....

What, only Marv has ever called Vermeil a cryer? As you pointed out, Levy did give respect to all the coaches he mentioned by saying they were all great coaches and that his point was that many different styles can be succesfull. Maybe Bill is having a bad day. -

No he didn't, but your opinion of whether Favre is finished is as valid as anyone else's... As for seriousness or rational thought, note the "winks" at the end of my post..... -

One things for sure, Sherman's Packers last year suffered key losses thru FA, injuries, and declining play from Favire, who has really carried that team heavily on his shoulders the past 4-5 years. Last year, Favre could no longer perform magic with lack of talent around him, and possibly declining skills. With that said, look at their record for 2005. Pretty darn bad. Sherman clearly wasn't a miracle worker last year.... -

Did anyone pick up on the question that led to Jauorn reference to John Shoop? Anyone? Details? I missed what was said. Pray to whatever God you chose that John Shoop never sets foot in Buffalo. -

He said that MAYBE Favre wasn't the same last year as he once was. That's not a "I believe he should retire" comment. Twisting? Selective hearing? Preconceived notions? We'll have none of that around here. -
anybody thinking the same as me?:

While motivated, Big Sam is a heck of a talent, yet he also caries the rep of not being a good locker room guy. His me first attitude cost him with Seattle, Baltimore, and now with us. I hate to see the big guy go, but he may very well have sealed his fate.

OK, yet we also must admit we have an 80 year old rookie GM, who has been out of the game for 8 years. To make one even more skeptical, he has stumbled with every move he's made so far. 1.) Was going to keep MM as HC, yet forced him to fire a considerable number of his coaches., which really allowed him to lead, didn't it? MM did the wise and prudent thing by resigning. 2.) Our 80 year old rookie GM couldn't bring himself to rule himself out as HC. That took his senior, Ralph< to finally put that to bed. 3.) Had a chance to bring in an experienced HC with a solid track record, yet he chose to bring in his buddy from Chicago. Cronyism? You bet, but then Marv wasn't above this when he was our HC (Corey, Bresnahan in particular) so we shouldn't have been surprised. Sorry, but in these eyes, Marv is not off to a sterling start.
