Come on LA, you're better than that. This seems a bit too "ICE" like, even with the "Soprano" reference to soften the blow. This is afterall, a message board where opinions are expressed and shared. Isn't this its primary purpose?

Buffalo Bills: Just not a top organization
Spiderweb replied to Beerstm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Huh?............ -
Jauron's reputation is one that he allows his assistants to coach, ala ML. To a coordinator wishing to make their bones, that's not a bad position to be in. It is based heavily on Jauron's rep at this point and if he's respected by his peers and/or underlings, well......

Why I am not bummed at all Sherman is not coming
Spiderweb replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If I'm not mistaken, GW really liked Larry Centers and pretty much told him he'd have a job as long as he was HC. Then, after two years, Larry Centers was let go. It was "assumed" it was not GW's decision and likely it wasn't since GW was already on record otherwise. -
Ladies and gentlemen, when the season ended and old Ralphie began with. "there's' going to be a lot of changes...", then fired TD, and hired Levy, many here spoke of the age factor (RW & ML). In general, it was predominately positive in that Marv was in great shape, mentally and physically. The assessment on Ralph was more luke warm. There was actually an air of political correctness here regarding age. Fascinating, but sadly unfounded. Marv first showed his lack of clarity in initially retaining MM after he crippled him by having MM fire half his staff. When MM justifiably resigned, ML waffled on the issue of who would be our next coach and that he clearly wasn't counting himself out until his senior, RW put an end to that garbage. In essence, ML cut off MM's manhood and then sent him out to lead the troops. MM had no choice so why would Marv have been surprised? Beginning with this, and everything since, ML wasted valuable time in not necessarily picking the right HC quickly (he didn't), but that capable coordinators and assistants were settling in elsewhere as well. If I were Sherman, and if it's based on any reality, I too would want more control than just HC. ML first steps have all been stumbles, and who could blame Sherman for possibly wanting a little control over his fate, rather than to leave it in the hands of old stumbling, bumbling ML? There comes a time when turning over the reins is proper and right. ML stepped aside back in January 1998 and now has stakenly allowed himself to believe that this wasn't his time, eight years later at the age of 80. Sorry ML, it was. ML wasn't even a great coach. The talent he was given, Rich Kottite could have won with and his stupid loyalty to Corey and Bresnahan was maddening back in the day. I like ML, but he was never "it". Nice quips from time to time, and reportedly a good man looked up to by his players, but not a great coach. Marv is living a lie, an illusion, and by mid season when everything left in Bills land has unraveled, we'll all hear ML & RW singing in unison, "they're coming to take me away....ha haaa" (courtesy of Napolean XIV), along with the sights of straight jackets and ambulance sirens. However, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong (courtesy of Dennis Miller).

Anybody ever had shoulder surgery?
Spiderweb replied to Stl Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seems there exists some advice here on your injury. Currently, I'm recooperating from a torn rotator cuff, some degenerative separation, and had the bone shaved. Had the surgery 1/4/06 and have been advised by my surgeon to wear my sling for a min 6 weeks, but as long as I don't raise my arm in any direction, I can take it out of the sling as long as I keep my elbow at my side. PT is scheduled to begin 2/9/06. This is the first time (in 22 years) that I've ever missed any work other than vacation and few sick day here and there. Very weird just sitting at home and reading this board over, and over, and over.....all day and night. -

????????????????? So I guess you don't recall our run defense of 2001? Key loss...Ted Washington. In fact, in 2001, Ted went to Chicago (after being refused by TD when he crawled back and offered to play for the 2.5 Mil approx that TD had first offered him yet TD refused) and the Bears record went from 5-11 in 2000 to 13-3 in 2001. Coincidence, maybe, but Ted was a major contributor in shoring up the Bears run defense. The fact is that we had two very good, if not great run stuffing tackles. I remember 2000 especially when on opening night, the Bills played Washington and Williams side by side and the Titans literally had zero room to run.... Washington, to this fan, was the best run stuffing nose tackle/tackle to have played this game. Unfortunately, age has caught up with Big Ted......

I wonder if JP thinks he got MM & TD Fired
Spiderweb replied to Cr8ZyA$$BillsFaNnTexas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, was it coaching, the GM-VP, or was it JP? Seems you've taken multiple views. Personally, JP's play surely didn't help TD & MM, but they created the mess, not JP. Also, JP had nothing to do with the collapse of the defense..... -
Ford Taurus are still being built, but are only for fleet sales (our company is still using them and the last lease was around March 2005, with this coming March the next batch). Or so I was told also by a Ford dealership......

Where Do You See The Nfl In 5 Years?
Spiderweb replied to billsboys's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's a league that has instant reply, constant grading of each official, and post game review processes. I think they'll be fine. Bad calls, do happen. Yet, sometimes some of the officals that are selected for nthe playoffs and beyond, do leave us with a question or two. And then's there's Walt Coleman, who most of us wonder why he's allowed to set foot on the field, ever..... Yet, on balance, the NFL is pretty well officated overall. ( I wonder what the "grade" will be for the ref that ejected Sean Taylor for spitting, yet allowed the player (Pittman?) who retalliated to remain unpenalized and on the field. That was a first for this fan. -
Nothing like watching Goliath fall

They definitely should have looked for another 1st. They had time, TO's, and needed to get a bit closer. Bad, bad, choice of plays. -
Hey AKC...You Were Balls-On Accurate About Brady
Spiderweb replied to IDBillzFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After Brady's first SB win, many felt he was a flash in the pan, a QB made from the system. So was Montana early in his career. Some might still try to make the same argument today. Yet, to not give Brady his due, is to deny reality. Maybe the Patriots are the best coached team in the league. Maybe they've developed a great system offensively and defensively, but in this, the copy-cat league, if it was so easy every team in the NFL would mimic the Pats right down to Belichek's scowl. Brady is a key component to thier success, to think anything less is pure fantasy. -
Mularkey simply doing what Ralph should
Spiderweb replied to jahbonas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yet, old Ralph has really mucked up the works. Mularkey was left a lame and limping duck fater the first wave of dismissals. It also was fairly clear that Mularkey was given a reprieve only because the the 3 years remaining on his contract. That surely doesn't bode well for him to be able to find assistant coaches and coordinators under these conditions. A clean sweep is what Ralph should have done once he made his decision. What concerns me now is will we find a true HC, DC, OC, and assistants? There are many jobs out there and my guess is we will end up with newbies and we all saw what happened under Greg Williams when that was the case. Sure there was a salary cap purge, but we probably will see a few familiar faces depart this off season that might not be so easily replaced as well. Lets face it folks, a team run by an 87 year old man, no prejudice intended or inferred, may give many a pause to avaialble coaches and they most likely will look elsewhere. We'll get what's left. Great news. FA's? Only possible now if we wave BIG bucks at them. In other words, we are far less attractive to an FA now than since the FA & Cap began. No stability, old owner, shaky local economy for where the team resides.....Yeah, that's where I'd want to go.... Yet, I'll still be a Bills fan in spite of everything that's happened. I will also remain hopeful that I'm wrong and we do find a qualified HC, DC, OC, as well as the assistant coaches needed. It's gonna be a tough few weeks/months ahead and it could be a very long, long season in 2006. Hello 1985 all over again? -
In mechanics and accuracy, Leinart (based upon college performance of course) wins hands down. He throws a very catchable ball, and while he does get a bit soft on some of his throws from time to time, it seems plenty strong enough to make the necesary thows. Compared to Holcomb, Leinart looks better and definitely has a greater upside, in that I believe we've all seen Holcomb's best, and many of us found that lacking. Vince Young seems to have some intangibles however, in terms of competitiveness and and athleticism. Yet, I can't get by his poor footwork, or his unorthodox throwing motion which frequently is almost sidearm. To this fan, Young is the greater risk.

When choosing a Defensive Coordinator
Spiderweb replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stay with what Bill from NYC said...... -
I'm not sld on Vince Young. He's not Michael Vick fast, has a relatively unorthodox throwing motion and mechanics, and those college runs untouched to the endzone will be met with violent collisions in the NFL. One plus is that in the interviews with him after his win over USC in the "Rose", he seemd to be a man of character. With that said, he'll probably be a star someday....and a punk....

Awesome article on Tom Brady and the Pats
Spiderweb replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nice find. Thanks for posting (if it was previously posted, I missed it). -
Is there any further updated info on him? Unless he can play tackle, which supposedly his back may prevent him from doing, I don't see anyone wanting to take on a 29 year olf, light DE project. In his day, he was a decent RT, although a bit of a loon, IIRC.
