Well, by and large, that's a reiteration of the "conventional wisdom(?)" as it is here at TSW. Yet, one with memory might find that there was another HC who was of a conservative ilk that once ran a wishbone offense in the NFL, and later railed for league rules against the no-huddle offense. Then, by the good fortune of having the right talent and getting an OC who took advantage of that talent, managed to change his stripes and the birth of the K-Gun offense was born. Is Jauron and Levy one in the same? NO, but sometimes the time, place and circumstances have more to do with one's philosophy than an inner prejudice to a single system or style. Is Jauron cautious, yes, but when he came here he inherited a pretty bad offensive line, a limited defense, and only better than average special teams. Risk taking? The offense wasn't a high reward offense that made taking risks an an option. The defense was not one that showed it was capable of changing a game or making the big stops when needed, further limiting the option of taking more risks offensively. Now, the players and talent have improved. We have a new OC who hopefully will have the latitude to open things up a bit, and utilize the new talent added to the roster since Jauron's arrival. Couple this with a defense that hopefully will have better luck health wise, along with the new additions last year and this off season so that it will be a solid, and hopefully good, defense. This year is the pivotal year for Jauron as HC for the Bills. This is the year the Bills take a big step forward, or it could be the beginning of the end for Jauorn in Buffalo. We shall see come September.

Hummm.....Message board.....Posted opinion..................obnoxious attack. What, a message board isn't for opinions, conversations, sharing of thoughts? All you showed was that a keyboard should not be universally available.

Most of the issues the Bills had with third and long (obvious passing downs) was the frustrating lack of a decent pass rush. As it's been already said many times, check out the Giants as to what an effective pass rush can do for you. It seems that even though the Bills have had one of the All-Time great pass rushers (BRUUUUUCE!), it seems the Bills still don't give this part of the game anywhere near enough attention. Nothing beats third and long like a ack by the Bills "D". Pickings were slim at DE, but I did have hope.....

While it's a given that Youboty has not been a contributor, but he has shown flashes in his brief appearances. I'll take the side that says the light comes on this year for him and he show what the draft guys saw in him when we drafted him. At the time he was considered a very solid value pick. We'll see. He's got some competition this year so it may well be put up or shut up time for Ashton.

Lito is of the mindset to cash in (ala - Clements, Samuel), but a more injury prone, second tier guy who doesn't warrant that kind of coin, and actually neither Clements nor Samuel deserved it either. My fear with Lito Shepard is that it will cost us too much, both in the trade value, and then getting him to ink the deal. I'd pass............

...........and that my friends, is the real likelihood.

Frankly, I don't enjoy any "mock" drafts, but the actual draft.....you bet I do. Here's to a prayer that every player picked by the Bills become real players and add immediate help to a team that's been out of the hunt for too long now.

Well, maybe their 2008 draft is safe from further penalty at this point but maybe it's time to invoke the NCAA practice of bans from the post season. That would be a real kick, eh? Never happen, but one can dream can't they?

A number of years back, Minny paid a steep price to get Herschel Walker from Dallas, and that ended up being a horrible trade for them. This could also backfire on them as well. As for Kansas City, Peterson (GM) and Edwards (HC) are both little more than jokes these days. How hard they have fallen.

The Cardinals stink, year after year and yet it's clear the reason is purely $$$. The past few years, there's been what seems to be a number of contracts that get re-negotiated that in years gone by never would have been. It's getting ridiculous. Too many teams are setting bad precedents for the future. Guys are traded, contracts torn up, guy are unhappy, contracts are extended with big signing bonuses, etc. The contract he has looked pretty good to him when he signed it, didn't it? Unless the NFL somehow can regain some sanity with regard to contracts, beginning with top 5-10 rookies, etc., they're going to leave this fan in the dust. The money has gotten insane.

............and once we get the Pac Man inked, we can turn our attention to Hannibal Lecter. He's one heck of a "special teams" guy.... JUST SAY NO TO PAC MAN JONES !!!!

How about Harold Carmichael, four time pro-bowler. His catch numbers were huge by todays standards, but the era he played wasn't so wide open and the Eagles had some bad teams until 1978-79 after Jaworski and Vermeil had been there a few years. Carmichael was 6'8"

Lofton's contributions to the Bills were solid in 1990 and 1991, but by 1992 he developed a nasty habit of dropping balls and seemed to be using his body to make the catch more than with his hands. Played for the Eagles in 1993 and he continued to drop a high percentage of throw. It was actually sad to watch the former great WR turn into an also ran. Yet, even at age 36 he seemed to still know how to get opn and may have been able to play longer, had the droppsies not taken over his game. Sure liked him alot in 1991 though, especially in the Cincinnati game where he beat up the corner playing against him so bad that Wyche, the "then" HC of Cinci, ran all the way to the end zone to protest a long TD grab by Lofton, who just smiled as he left the field.

Cincy, did someone give you a hard time today? Barry was a great player, a decent and soft spoken person. When he retired, a huge group of folks thought he was merely trying to force a trade. He simply lost his desire to continue. The Lions can do that to a player. I would tend to lean heavily towards Barry simply being great, all around. In fact, I don't recall any of his teammates having any problem with Barry either. So, bad day?

Taking away our home game against the Phins really sucks.....

As said before, TE still has yet to prove he's the guy. He has some things he appears to be better at, but the long ball isn't one of them, and the stats say JP is also the better of the two with the check downs, believe it or not. Personally, I'd like them to keep JP unless they can get a second rounder (minimum or similar value) for him. TE has a strange throwing motion and I believe that may hamper his long ball more than we'd care to admit.

Time will tell. If there's been any interest in JP, it's been very low key and the Bills are being very tight lipped about the whole deal. I suspect there's ben passing interest and it there is any real interest, something will happen either on draft day, or just after. If not, JP may be in for an awakening about his marketability.

I was at this game, coldest game I ever attended. We brought in Jack Daniels in wine skins to keep us warm. Boring game, but close, with Fergy & Hooks pulling out a win with back to back prayers. Went home drunk and happy.
