  1. I am so going to steal this line.
  2. I really hope Rex and Roman are having these thoughts.
  3. I think EJ ends up being a much better qb than most here seem to think. I hope he does so playing for the Bills.
  4. This may all be true, but I don't think the rhetoric employed by these professional journalists is free of rancor and a kind of sadistic glee in choosing words that project derision more than objectivity. It's the acid quality I find highly distasteful.
  5. Well, I hope this is correct. Next week will clarify if its a rotation or a sign that EJ is where the media is speculating. If the former, the credibility of the local sports media, such that it is, should take a hit.
  6. Immaturity, impatience and incivility on a message board?
  7. That's fine; it's reasonable. I think the irritation is that there's a difference between predicting and stating a "prediction" as if it were a dead certainty. A lot of people who pronounce on EJ "predict" in the latter fashion, generally heaping scorn on Manuel and also on those who continue to hold out hope for his development.
  8. That will be news to the majority of posters here.
  9. I'm sure there are some reasonable people who are simply unhappy we don't have an established franchise qb to go with a team that otherwise could be a Super Bowl favorite. Others believe he was overdrafted and are still angry about it. The overwhelming negativity, however, disgusts me. I really think it's contemptible.
  10. Randell Johnson appears to be getting some good reviews this training camp as well.
  11. He's a troll. He thinks his sarcasm is so witty.
  12. How I see it: EJ no doubt is inconsistent. He still is the most talented qb on the roster. He may be failing, but I absolutely do not trust the local press corps. I think some of them have an agenda. Joe B. does. I've read reports from ordinary folk and from Astro that paint a different picture. So I am going to wait until actual games to draw significant conclusions. I certainly think if one is going to make a big deal out of a bad practice Monday for EJ, but not out of his being the best at the scrimmage, one is being selective. If one just goes by the most recent results, then I'll just wait a day or two for something to change. It usually does.
  13. Thanks. I used to like Carucci years ago. Now it seems to me he is just part of the group think thuggishness.
  14. I hope you are right. Over at BBMB, a vicious lot for the most part, the large tribe of EJ haters -- yes, they hate, they are not simply Buffalo Bills' fans -- have already concluded from EJ working mainly with the third team that he is virtually on his way out and that the battle is between Cassel and Tyrod. I'll wait for GG and VABills to tell me how I am deluded and the local media is telling it straight.
  15. Ah, thanks. My job gets in the way of my capacity to scrutinize the posts properly at times.
  16. Seriously, this is very confusing. I absolutely trust Astro and I am not inclined to trust the professional gossips, but the numbers here are completely different.
  17. EJ is playing better in camp this year. If you can't see the bias, I think you probably share it.
  18. When your bias makes Rodak appear relatively reasonable, you know you're in a bad place.
  19. I'm not going to quote long posts, but well stated Buffalo Bob and kokbills. At minimum, EJ has strung together a few good practices and had the best of the scrimmage. People ought to at least allow for the possibility he could legitimately win the job. Most of the naysayers are just stuck in negativity.
  20. Kokbills, I feel your pain. Exasperating . . .
  21. So true, but I was also young and naive. Now I'm "get off my lawn" guy.
  22. Still way too early to panic. The hyperscrutiny of the internet/twitter age has caused unrealistic expectations. It would be surprising if the qbs didn't struggle early against this defense. I sometimes long for the days when I still read newspapers and imagined most of the fans of my favorite teams were decent, rational folk.
  23. Yeah, he's not as focused as Astro. More interested in ambiance and the like, but I still believe his impressions are sound and worth throwing into the mix of opinions.
  24. I certainly don't know what the truth is about EJ or any of the other qbs. In addition to Astro's fine reports, I'd like to recommend folks here give a look to reports written by Badlandsmeanie over at BBMB. The writing by itself is humane and funny, while the observations contradict the groupthink among Buffalo media. The latest offering is pinned. Give it a read.
