Patrick Mahomes: He is having an incredible season
Dr. Who replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Coaching and surrounding talent. We barely have a crumb on offense outside of an aging Shady. I argued for Mahomes and Watson, especially Mahomes. No one was more vociferous than Jeffismagic and he was hounded off the boards here for crusading. That said, I also like Allen, but the incompetence of this regime with regards to offense is literally historic. -
I agree with this, so there was some hyperbole when I said he is not a starter level NFL qb.

I got a number of folks riled up, apparently. I am not addressing whether Kaepernick is better than Peterman or Anderson. My next door neighbor's dog is arguably better than poor Nate Peterman. I spoke to the inordinate attention given to a player I personally judge to be not a starter level NFL qb. The attention given to him nationally has much to do with his media image and what he stands for ideologically. Nike didn't sign him to do a commercial because of his playing ability. If some of you fellas want him to play for the Bills, more power to you. Regardless of his numbers during his last stint as a player, I believe he is not worth the headache. No one is going to rescue this season. Allen will improve (I think he can given adequate players around him and competent coaching) or the next regime will be drafting his replacement.

The love affair is political. It has nothing to do with a rational evaluation of his actual football talent.

Excellent post. Randy Smith was a master of the steal. He was my favorite player as well.

Nate Peterman "I'm ready to go win a game"
Dr. Who replied to BmarvB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Only the jerks are rooting for him to do poorly. That's different from concluding he doesn't have the skill set to be an NFL qb. I think he's out of the league after this year. I certainly hope he has a good game or at least a decent game so he has a few good memories from playing here. I think it would be near miraculous for him to become a competent backup. Great if it happens. -
I guess they had two color schemes. Black and orange and Columbia blue and orange. (Just googled it.) Totally agree about the roster. Jack Ramsey was always articulate and erudite and wore incredibly loud pants. Those were indeed fun times.

Nothing cooler than powder blue and orange uniforms.

Hey Popinski, you've got a beer namesake

Russian Imperial Stout sounds great; with peanut butter and marshmallow does not. I'd put in on a shelf for decor and leave it there. -
The reasoning was given in the post you are replying to.

Was it addressed to Spartacus?

Players that need replaced in 2019 for the Bills to succeed?
Dr. Who replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
At the top of the draft, I think you take elite talent over need. But if this team doesn't use the bulk of its resources in the draft and free agency to upgrade offensive talent this off-season, there is a problem imo. -
I am somewhat more optimistic, but this is an example of a well-argued opinion that does not insult folks who think otherwise. Thanks for the effort.

Media trying to get McDermott fired.
Dr. Who replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know, but I have a feeling if McDermott goes down, the Pegula's may try to bring in a football czar ala Coughlin with the Jags to sort things out. Not sure who would be considered, but there must be some old, crusty fellas who qualify. -

I think he's gone if that is the case. -

I don't like the blowout losses. Given the historic ineptitude of the offense, I imagine more lopsided losses are likely. I still think he gets the off-season and next year to right the ship. -

Yeah, but other than that, it's exactly like Rex. -
I liked EJ. I hoped he would develop into an NFL qb when most gave up on him. Already, despite the naysayers, Allen is a better qb than EJ ever was. EJ was a blue chip prospect who signed with FSU. He had top coaches and NFL caliber players at skill positions around him. As an NFL player, he never seemed to have confidence and melted under pressure. Josh Allen has a long way to go, but he's already shown more courage under duress and the ability to make plays. Go look at how Wyoming is faring without him. He evidently raised a very poor team to fairly good in his conference, despite those who fixate on completion percentage. Allen is only now receiving the coaching other first round rookies had for years. Too bad his coaches and surrounding cast are for the most part below average.

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - So Funny I Could Cry
Dr. Who replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Honestly, I don't know what to think anymore. I was willing to give McDermott the benefit of the doubt as this is a depleted roster talent-wise (albeit largely self-inflicted.) I do think if the blowouts keep coming, there's a chance McDermott is gone. -
None of them have Andy Reid as a head coach and a superlative surrounding cast on offense.

Bills are 2013 Houston Astros.
Dr. Who replied to Southern Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only way the analogy works at all is if you include NCAA players that haven't been drafted yet. Who knows who they are at this point? I rather doubt we will find enough help through free agency to effectively improve the dreadful offense. -
Raiders now Shopping Derek Carr (?)
Dr. Who replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When he says qb comp. next year, I take that to imply Allen as part of the competition. I still believe he will be a very good pro if given time to develop and an adequate surrounding cast. Still not sold on any of our offensive coaches, either, for that matter.
