  2. I was kidding about SL, I haven't used them myself, but I've heard good things. I mentioned Slicehost because I've heard of some distributed IPB setups using multiple VPSes to save money over dedicated boxes. Sounds like it wouldn't for you, though.
  3. NFL.com's Inactives says "Lee Evans, Inactive, Safe Fantasy Start". Does anyone know?
  4. I'm curious to see how he performs in their bowl game. If you're right, it should become pretty obvious there (provided ARK is playing a decent opponent). (Speaking of which.... I wish we got a bowl game. /sigh)
  5. Gotcha. From the first post, I couldn't tell what you liked better about Murray, but I think I understand. What you're saying is that you don't like Mallett's less measurable skillset. How he deals with pressure, being a leader, how he reacts to situations which don't always go his way. Which is a common criticism on here of Fitz - they like him until he gets into those types of situations.
  6. SoftLayer sucks (Have you thought about Slicehost at all? http://www.slicehost.com/ )
  7. If that's the case, what, specifically, don't you like about Mallett's game? I admit I haven't watched much of his play this year, but I don't buy the argument that "Mallett sucks because this guy is good".
  8. Stop trying to steal video.
  9. AJ, I think you're a smart guy, but I really think you're letting your biases get in the way here. Mallett's had a fantastic season in his own right, and has the potential to be a very good QB in the NFL, of the caliber the Bills haven't had in forever. Just because Murray might be the next best ever QB, doesn't mean Mallett is horrible.
  10. I agree. I had a 2 night stay in a hospital last year and if I had chosen the HDHP + HSA I would have saved a boatload over what I ended up paying. I absolutely love my HDHP + HSA plan. They save so much money if you're doing routine care + planning for emergencies.
  11. I've had the stock email app crash on my Captivate... it's usually due to all available memory being used. Once I rooted my phone and uninstalled all the AT&T crapware, I haven't had it happen since.

  13. While I think they'll likely get a win or two, I can't see how you would ever "love" the chances of this team to win. In addition, I'm not sure how you'd EVER call Chicago a potential playoff-caliber team.
  14. The mantra of Bills fans: "trade down! trade down! trade down!" Yet, everyone seems to forget that it takes two to make a trade.
  15. Your ideas intrigue me; may I subscribe to your newsletter?
  16. Weird. I dunno, I've never seen a bank do that.
  17. Is that with both online (PIN-based) and offline (Signature-based) debit transactions? Authorization holds shouldn't happen for online transactions because it's all done by a PIN - there's no authorization and then settling that happens afterwards like offline transactions done via a signature.
  18. That's not true. Either way, the vendor is going to get charged a fee. It's just that with debit, he gets charged less of a fee. Here's what happens when you use both online and offline transactions: - The full amount of the purchase is deducted from your bank account. - The bank that issued your card keeps a significant portion of this amount as a processing fee (this is the largest portion). - The bank that the merchant is using keeps a cut for processing this side of the transaction - The merchant receives the rest of the money. Then, based off of your card-issuing bank's agreement with VISA/MasterCard, the card network you used gets a portion of the fee that your bank kept. Overall, online debit card processing fees are lower because they are instant and more secure. There's relatively no chance for things like chargebacks, and identity theft changes are a ton lower because a PIN is required. As a result, interchange fees for are significantly lower for debit card processing than credit card processing. In order to make up for the less revenue from online debit card transactions, some banks charge their customers a fee each time they use their debit card. It's somewhere between a .6% and 1% average difference between online & offline transaction fees.
  19. And I *SAW* the crowd on TV that was full of people from all ages, genders, and races. lol, "some of them", as if there was more than one
  20. As I said in my post, its up to each bank to decide. BoA didn't charge a fee either, but many banks and credit unions do. This only applies to online debit transactions.
  21. 30 rock
  22. This isn't exactly true. There are two different types of debit transactions, online transactions and offline transactions. Offline transactions are ones that are run as debit but don't use a PIN. These you are required to sign if the cost is over $20, and just like credit cards, there can be a fee of up to 2% of the transaction charged to the merchant. Online transactions are debit transactions when you use your PIN. *If* you receive a fee for these is up to your bank. Bank of America, for example, doesn't charge you at all to use your debit card. Each time I do a debit purchase, it's completely free. And, as you mentioned, they have fraud protection on the debit cards that match what they offer on their credit cards. On online transactions, there usually is a fee to the retailer as well, but it's less than the normal 2% for an offline transaction (normally like 10 cents). Personally, I dump everything on a credit card & then pay it off in full each month. That's only because I used to use my debit card for everything and figured, "why the hell not get some rewards points". I *never* leave a balance on the thing. Started in April, and booked a free flight next month & still have $120 left or so to save up for the next one.
