  1. The biggest problem was the lack of any balance of offense last year. The passing offense was just miserable for a number of reasons: rookie QB struggling to find his way in the NFL, a sub-par group of receivers struggling to get open, and a playbook focused on protecting that rookie QB. This would lead to defenses stacking the box, putting much higher pressure on the OL, taking away the strength, and daring the offense to make them pay a few times by taking advantage of blitzes - something the Bills abomination of a passing offense couldn't do.
  2. You know you could have just PM'd that to him.

  5. This is what you said: Cept that he's still taking money from bundlers, so it doesn't matter. See above.

  8. Oh look, now its fair to rake Marshawn over the coles.
  9. lol http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/20/opinion/...amp;oref=slogin I think from now on, the media should be forced to differentiate between the two Obama's and the two McCain's. "Dr. Barack today said" or "Fast Eddie Obama today said" for Obama "Maverick McCain today said" or "Slippery john today said" for McCain
  10. Interesting article from The Nation today about the media's infatuation with John McCain. I found the article to be a mixed bag. On one hand, they make some good (albeit known) points about media coverage: the coverage of the candidates is generally (outside of some scandals) positive and lacking any real substance on issues, the media is biased towards candidates who give them what they want (not necessarily that they ideologically like better), and they essentially act as spokesmen for the campaigns. On the other hand, it is without a doubt a look which incorporates many Democratic talking points into the mix, so take that as you may.
  11. House passes compromise surveillance bill.
  12. Ah, the Barack Obama/John Kerry spin on it. Right, because if McCain was planning on taking public funding, he wouldn't agree to such a deal.
  13. Got the timeline here wrong - this change was passed in April, 2007; he didn't endorse McCain until January 2008.

  15. Yep, there is talk of Crist being the VP. Felons typically show up at about a 50% turnout rate of the regular turnout rate. The article metnions that 114,000 felons rights have been restored, so if we look at a 65.90% turnout rate for Florida (the 2004 election level), it would be about 32.95% of all felons that would turn out. The increase was 114,000 according to the article, so the actual number of votes would increase at 37,563. In 2000, this would have have made the difference in the election in the state, but in 2004, 1996, 1992, 1988, 1984, 1980, 1976, 1972, etc., that number wouldn't have tipped the scales. Its very, very rare to get an election in Florida within 37k votes. There's no question that it has the potential to hurt McCain, especially if they break at even higher numbers due to more felons being African American and voting for the African American president. In 1992, the other close election in Florda in recent history, Bush won the state by 100,612 votes. If the felons had a 100% turnout rate, and all voted Democrat, the election would have been tipped in Clinton's favor. Of course, thats not realistic, which shows just how insignificant this voting population actually is on the outcome of the election.
  16. The article doesn't mention Florida's problems with their previous system of restoring rights to Felons. It was costly and backlogged to the point where it tooks years for each case to be resolved. By switching it to an automatic system, Crist is saving a bunch of time and money for the government. In this respect, it was a pretty attractive thing to do. Politically, Crist actively sought black voters during his campaign run. Jim Davis, his opponent, had supported restoring felon's rights automatically. In order to balance him out on an issue that would largely not hurt him all that much, he too decided to be in favor of restoring felon's ability to vote. He's now acting on a campaign promise so that it can't be used against him.
  17. The way I read it was that it wasn't his contention, he was pointing out that the people in China feel that way, and are happy with the communist regime, with no desire to aspire for Democracy (like we in the West tend to believe everyone wants).
  18. Sign it people!
  19. Why didn't the cop just sing a lullaby?
  20. Wetting the Brush first allows you to dampen the whole brush head much easier, making all the bristles nice and evenly soft, instead of having an uneven patch of bristles from where the toothpaste covered the brush up at. Therefore, wetting the brush first is preferred.
