  1. You're thinking of Duke Nukem Forever. That being said, $10 to add online play to an old classic isn't exactly just the latest eye candy.

  3. How many teams/what soring?
  4. Dismissing all polls is rather silly. Anyway, Pollster tackled the "loopy" results today: http://www.pollster.com/blogs/the_loopy_zogby_polls.php
  5. If that's the case, hopefully New England.
  6. #1 - Its Zogby. #2 - There is always a chance (it is usually done at a 95% confidence level) that a certain poll is an outlier. #3 - Its Zogby. #4 - Other Natl tracking polls from yesterday show McCain +1, Obama +1 and Obama +2, all within the MOE #5 - Its Zogby.
  7. "We'll just have to wait and see what tomorrow holds for it so I'll wait until the morning," coach Dick Jauron said. "Sometimes they come back very quickly, and sometimes they don't. Sometimes it turns into a deep bleeding thing and we're hoping it's not that." Lets hope it isn't the latter...

  9. Not quite. The Aug 8 deadline (which ended up being earlier than Aug 8, it was a month before the first game of the season, not the Bills' first game unlike what was reported) was to accrue a year of seniority, which is taken into account for restricted free agency and pensions. It doesn't have anything to do with counting a year on the contract or not - the actual date on that is pretty late into the season. I don't remember the actual date, but I believe its somewhere around Week 12.
  10. To further illustrate this point (one I wholeheartedly agree with), in Florida, we had the FCAT that we had to pass in 10th grade in order to graduate high school (this was the year before they made it mandatory to take it every grade). In Texas, it is called the TAKS. I was talking to a friend of mine about our high school experiences regarding standardized testing. At my high school, they taught way above and beyond what was required for the test. When it got near test time, we basically took a 2-week period to review everything we had learned and take practice tests. Since we had learned concepts above and beyond what was required for the test, the test itself was pretty darned easy. My high school also was one of the best high schools in the state, and consistently scored well on the test, due to this teaching style. My friend in Texas, however, had a different experience. In many of his classes, they pretty much did nothing but teach to the test the entire year. They were constantly doing practice tests, and each homework assignment had practice questions for the test on it. His high school ended up touching many less subjects than mine did, and performed more poorly on the standardized testing than my school had (if you compare across the different tests). I ended up having an easier time in some of my core college classes simply because I had learned the extra material that he did not. Of course, that all evened out, and he ended up getting the better degree, but it was still a lot more work for him and more of a struggle than it should have been in the beginning of his college years. It could easily put someone in a hole that makes it very, very hard for them to catch up if they are going to go to college.
  11. "Meh" is an excellent phrase.
  12. I doubt he'll just flat out be cut (seems a bit extreme), but Baltimore is starting to find out about the Willis we know and love.
  13. I agree that there are lots of question marks surrounding the Pats. They were actually discussing this on Sirius this past week - and the Pats* sure as hell have looked sloppy over hte past couple of pre-season games. With rumors that Brady had an MRI, they may be off to a slow start this season. It wouldn't shock me to see him play 2 more years, but I do agree with you that he won't add all that much. The Jets still have major problems on the OL and D, although they have good skill position players. Favre will probably help them win one or two more games than they would have, putting them at 6-10 or 7-9. While a trade does indeed make sense, Losman hasn't ever been anything but mature about competing for the starting job or being the #2 guy, even last season. I think he'll quietly handle being the backup this year if he isn't traded, and look for a team where he has a chance to compete for the starting role during the off-season (perhaps with the Jets after Favre retires? ) No real comment from me here, I see the validity in the arguments from both sides. I agree with A,B,C, but I'd much prefer having Losman over one of hte available free agent QBs (Culpepper? Lorenzen? Yuck). Trading Losman for a 7th round pick and then signing a FA QB isn't all that exciting of a prospect to me.
  14. 8+ hours, tyvm.
  15. rofl, that's some funny stuff. Thanks for posting.
  16. I'm about 90% sure that you can't just buy 1 week PPV.
  17. Good post Simon, I agree with most of your points. The biggest changes so far this off-season are right where the weaknesses of the Bills from last year: the OC and the QB. The good news is that the Bills coaches have really helped Edwards progress (I wonder how much AVP has to do with this), and that, by luck, we finally have an OC who seems to know what he's doing. I read an interesting tidbit online the other day - the tone and pace of the Bills training camp was just like New Englands. Perhaps Dicky J knows what he is doing after all.
  18. Peppers would be great, but I'm not sure the Bills would do it with all the money tied up in Kelsay. It would essentially relegate a highly paid player to the bench.
  19. The move to digital doesn't necessitate everything being in HD - it just changes the way the signals are done through the air.
  20. All I can say is.... wow. Ramius - I graduated FL HS in 03, and while late work policies were up to the individual teacher, we pretty much had the same thing (with some assignments being no late work at all).
  21. Damn, yeah, that is small. I just looked up the numbers for Global Crossing too - that company is much smaller than I thought it was.
  22. Cool, thanks for the info.
  23. Hey, we agree on something! I, too, think that they would be good choices.
  24. Hrm, interesting. I would have guessed that the bigger revenue was in the backbone market, not the last mile. Thanks for correcting my pompous idiocy.
