Would like OJH to stick. Feel we need a true TE2 to help block in the running game, provide protection for the QB, work in a spread formation, block and go for a pass, etc. Not sure we have been able to sell the 2 TE set in years. It’s a good base for a diverse set of pass and run plays; keep the defense guessing. Something we haven’t been able to do for some time.

Must be Jim Brinson. Him and Simon were really good together. The other red head was Brian Blessing, who did Sabres stuff. Last I saw Brinson was in Little Rock? Incidentally, Brian Blessing passed away earlier this year at 64 years of age.

Correct, once any player hits the PS they can be protected weekly. Not saying he would. And yes, have to clear waivers to get to PS. Feel it’s a good bet he’d clear waivers.

Figured for both of them. Austin playing so late in the game and I don’t believe ever returned a punt or kick in preseason. Punt god! Woo hoo!!

Better back than Duke Johnson. And Duke is good. Duke has shown straight ahead, good yard. Blackshear is a bit shiftier, cuts better. Listen, Blackshear may not make the 53. Most likely won’t. Moss is back to his old form so 1 and 2 are locked. Cook ain’t going anywhere. Probably hit PS if both Duke and him are waived. Kid can hone his craft there and who knows, maybe learn ST’s. We can protect 4 PS players per week, no limit to how many times the same guy gets protected. If he ends up elsewhere, wish him well. In Beane I trust, so if the dude is here, great, if not, that’s fine.

During and after the game they asked a bunch of the players about the impact of Kromer. They all had nothing but good to great things to say about his impact in the run game and coordination. Not sure if our last o-line coach did so much coordination in the run game. Singletary looked like a beast. Moss looks like he used to. Cook is going to be very good. A run game is very important to keep the ball from the opponent, spell the defense, not get Josh killed with him running. Hopefully this is what’s needed to put us over the top.

Have not heard much about Austin. Felt if he made this team, it was about returns. I don’t believe I’ve seen him as a returner this preseason. He was in the game very late yesterday as a WR. Don’t see him making the cut with the work others are getting at KR/PR

Get used to it?? Just making an observation that I like Blackshear. Nice speed and decent cutting ability. He’d be a nice depth guy. And Gilliam is a FB/TE. We had 4 RB’s last season, DS,, Moss, Breida and Taiwan Jones. Who knows, maybe there is a place for him. Maybe PS. I liked his running style better than Duke, shiftier and cuts well.

I can’t see that being true. No NFL team would allow a player to be off the field for such an endeavor. Not just the optics, but sure they are somewhat locked down for safety reasons during season activities. Last thing they need is a player to get hurt fooling around. For me, it’s one of two things. Divorce or he’s looking to retire. If it were the latter, I’d expect that would have happened already.
