What if the Bills refuse to play the Patriots?
davefan66 replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
Terms I can understand? Thank you dearly for helping me throw out any shred of empathy I have for the situation and those involved. You are correct! A game that does nothing to change my life is more important than the mental health and well being of those involved in the situation. If the people involved closely with what happened decide they can’t move forward, only THEY have the right to make that decision. I wouldn’t question this teams desire to win or think any less of any one of them. -

I understand the emotions. I do. My question is, why do they “have to move forward”? Especially on others timelines? Just asking. I’ll be honest. If they decide to play, good for them. If not, I’ll support the team. Thing is in this league you need to be 100% your mind in the game. If not, you are at risk for injury, and obviously at risk for losing the game. I’m not saying what they should do, just saying I would support these men in whatever decision they make. -

Why is it that they have no choice? The league has said they will support the Bills in their decision. I think whatever they do will receive support from the other players and teams in the league. Look at how shook Aaron Rodgers was if you saw his interview. How others spoke of the situation, coaches and players. I think this team is incredibly close, more so than any other in the league maybe. That is a big part in how devastated they are. -

That’s the question, isn’t it? Does the team move forward? If the team doesn’t move forward, how does it impact the season? Thats up to them to decide. If they choose to play, it is their decision. If they choose to not play, it is their decision. I don’t expect McDermott or Beane to force a single one of these guys to do play now, or later. Looking at the players reactions while it happened spoke volumes to me. This is something a number of them won’t “get over” in 6 days, weeks or maybe months. -

When the team and organization collectively agree to do so. There is no timeline for, nor should there be. -
A concussion would not be the medical staffs concern at this time. A concussion would have no impact in what happened Damar. It’s not that he was “knocked out” by hitting his head in this situation. Him being unresponsive is caused by is cardiac emergency. If there was concern of head trauma, a stroke/brain bleed, it would be looked at prior to cooling the patient. My understanding is it is protocol for a CT to be done prior to cooling.

I am a RN who has been in my share of codes and have administered CPR many times. As part of my job I have witnessed patients pass away. Passing away that was expected, and sudden unexpected deaths. I have had some trouble processing what I witnessed and I was not on the field watching a close personal friend go through what Damar did. Receiving life saving medical action to bring him back. CPR, intubation and being shocked. I wholeheartedly support the team in whatever decision they make. They are grown men who will make a decision about playing this weekend based on the entirety of the teams input. If they are not ready to play, that is their decision and no one has the right to say their collective decision is wrong. -
Had a long night processing what happened. Still having difficulty. I work in the medical field and have performed CPR too many times. I can’t imagine what those players, staff, media felt witnessing their friend, and teammate down on the field. People who have never witnessed CPR. It was obviously traumatic by the players reactions. Training staff/medical personnel were in a spotlight that nobody else would be in performing their job. The work they did is incredible and hopefully will enable Damar to come back from this. I have no clue how this team can even play Sunday. I hope the players, staff and organization can do what’s needed to care for themselves while caring for their teammate. Games don’t matter, Damars health does. This team is woven into the fabric of this community like none other. The emotions i feel and those I’ve read and listened to is incredibly sad. Prayers for this young man and his family and for those who are close to him.

Who’s at center tonight? Bates? NVM. Morse is on. -
Happy, happy. I love night games, but not when I work the next day. Perfect if you ask me.

Would you consider the Boogie Basham pick to be a disappointment?
davefan66 replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
My point was Groot, good or bad, takes the pressure off of Basham to perform. Basham does what he’s asked to do. In the rotation with other guys as part of our scheme. Dline play doesn’t drop off when he’s in. He’s played well. Now if AJ and Boogie played more downs, one could perceive they’d have better stats. That’s not this Dline. Rotation is. -

davefan66 replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
No, I believe he is a nice rotational piece to our Dline. We picked Groot first, and he has proven to be an excellent player. To me, that helps take a little off the expectation off Bashsam and feel he’s where he ought to be in his development. If Groot didn’t pan out, of course it would put more pressure on Basham. -
Not sure another team jumps on his contract via trade if they feel he will just be released. Has a 40 million guarantee after the season. I don’t think he is a top tier QB. Next tier, for sure. Feel the Raiders are making a terrible decision here. If it’s all about Davis not having the money, then he’s lucky to get out at a young age.

Christmas storm could be “Paralyzing” for Buffalo

I concur. Last night seemed snowfall was not too bad. This morning? Holy schmoley! Drifts well over 3’ in the driveway. 3 foot at the apron from the street plowed overnight. I think it snowed over a foot last night. Snowblowed about 2/3 of the driveway. Enough for us to back out and get to the street and pull back in.
