  1. Of ahite sure what you mean. I think Trump feels an “us” ( white European Conservatives who feel marginalized ) vs “ them” ( folks of color and immigrants) is a good political strategy for him.
  2. Wife and I were talking last night. Remember one weekend in 95 in DC that was the hottest ever experienced I agree weather is not climate, and heat wave does not indicate global warming anymore than than a cold snap indicates the absence of such.
  3. if ya got a fireplace, get one of these. I will not say i use a ton, but damn if ya already got a fire going, sometimes it is mucho convenient. https://www.amazon.com/130-Adjustable-Surface-Cooking-20-Inch/dp/B0024NL8H0/ref=asc_df_B0024NL8H0/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=194884170462&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6785629546779745473&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9008464&hvtargid=pla-310752839882&psc=1 I think i have heard some believe the temp difference of the cold steak hitting the hot grill results in the muscle fibers tensing up more, release more juices to the flame. A room temp steak maybe not so much. I will take at stab at finding out..I honestly dont know the science behind this one (edit) great article on this stuff..as i mentioned upthread these guys almost always spot on https://www.seriouseats.com/2013/06/the-food-lab-7-old-wives-tales-about-cooking-steak.html
  4. I wont admit to watching cause i wont watch...i watched a few episodes of Melrose Place back in the day when our living room furniture consisted of 1 couch, only 1 TV in the condo, and no internet..and i was hoping to get lucky after the show
  5. i got cha...and for another thread to argue what he has delivered?
  6. that usually comes seperate no?
  7. i said nothing bout that..ever! As said, i don't have a problem with him having sex with anyone, as long as it was consensual.I also don't think everyone who has strayed is an immoral cretin, i think we all make mistakes in this life. But I don't think the Evangelicals think that way and that was my point
  8. sorry did not see this, and you are correct that was an over generalization. What I meant there was i am continually astounded at the support Trump has from Evangelicals and those who preach family values, and yet endorse a guy who was displayed anything but family values. And just to clear, i see nothing wrong with Trump banging a porn star or bedding as many women as he has( as long as none were sexual assault)..my only problem is he was married while doing it. And lord knows i am not saying politicians, or for that matter, anyone , outside of Trump do not stray..just that i am surprised the far right family values crowd continue to have his back.
  9. Is this very discussion not proof? Some really smart people here have said this whole tweet thing was politically motivated. If so, Trump views iy as advantage to the nation to be totally divided on its meaning/message.
  10. by personal if you mean I think he is not a person that should lead the US..absolutely. But you point out to me where I rail against a policy just because its a Trump policy? I think you will be searching a long time. What I will not do is not criticize bad, often awful behavior, strictly because i agree with much of his policies
  11. yes, i do believe Trump thinks there is political gain to be had by an us/them narrative. I am not saying his policies have been, but his rhetoric
  12. Lets clarify..this whole discussion the past five days has been on race, were his tweets racist, and the way different people interpret the meaning and the impacts on both sides of the argument. To then say damn, you are talking racism, I don not think is a fair criticism..it is what has been discussed for the last 500 posts! I have not called Trump racist, i said his tweet was racist. If i am to take you at face value that it was all done for political gain, both those things can be true. More importantly, I have not ever called anyone on this thread or any Trump supporter racist just because they are Pro Trump or whatever you want to call it. However, you have labeled me in this thread now 3 different ways 1) #orangmenbad 2) Liberal 3) #nevertrump Lets argue the points, and have disagreements..but in a thread that has been discussing racism , yes i am going to talk about it. If you have read the majority of my pots on this sub forum, I could not agree more with you. Same with Warren, same with Sanders, same with Harris, same with the "squad" ..attack like hell on their positions, point out how dumb their ideas are, challenge them to debates, make them shoe detailed plans...don't tell 4 brown opponents to go back where they came from.
  13. dont leave it at that..tell where i be wrong? Thats what this place is for
  14. we will disagree about the nature of the tweets, neither one of us will change each others mind. All i will say is I have not seen him tweet at Pelosi to go back to where she came from, i have not seen him tweet at Newsom to go back where he came from, or really any white politician who opposes him to go back where they came from. Not quite sure then why he is backing away from the chants then, and why he disagreed with them if the chants were not racist? What if i said Trump should go home to the fatherland as he and his ideology took hold there before, maybe it will again.I mean after all his dad was born in Germany right? Of course that's a ridiculous statement, as was his. And in terms of a political masterpiece, maybe it was. But if posting/promoting racial divides in this country are worth the win to the republicans, God bless. They sure are not to me.
  15. What i mean by pity party is people excusing racist tweets, or when he lies, or any other action that most people find offensive with the.."well the Dems have been mean to us in the past, woe is me, therefore everything he does is a okay casue i agree with his policies". I don't agree with that...i think it is rationalizing bad behavior. I just dont understand why you can't be a Trump supporter, and an avid one at that, and not criticize some of his actions . I know you have in this very thread, but most do not. And i dont mean "thet will hurt Trump..or he stepped in it today, or thats Trump being Trump " I mean " this is just flat out wrong and he was wrong to do it/say it"
  16. I don't think I am all over the place, i think the great majority of my views would be considered conservative, with some modifications when it comes to religion and who ya love etc. In terms of the #nevertrump..i guess that is what really rankles me..why not have a nuanced position? Why reduce to a two or three word hashtag. Early in this thread you said anyone who thought the original tweet was racist was only cause #orangemanbad....that is not having a discussion on ideas, that is , as you say, identity politics. You lump anyone who diagress or critizes Trump into a #..i think that is wrong. Would i like someone who has the majority of Trump policy decisions with out all the derisiveness and turmoil his guy causes? damn right. Did i want Hilary over this guy..hell no. I just think it a phenomenon i have never seen before in my 57 years...where this guy and his base truly rationalize even the must vile of things as somehow okay...
  17. OKay, which position would you like me to point to 1) Agreed with both SCOTUS picks 2) Agree with majority of what Trump has done with the economy outside the tax cuts 3) Have said numerous times in several places liberal policies have had a deleterious effect on the whole for minority populations in this country 4) And i guess its up for debate which side this lands on..I am a staunch believer in our civil liberties and want to make sure all forms of government are reined in and their ability to get into out =r lives restricted 5) I have always agreed with the "investigate the invertigor" sentiment..i have NEVER disagreed and have actively encouraged that investigation. ask @Deranged Rhino 6) Show mw one place, even one, where i have said Barr, Pompeo and for that matter even Bolton were not the right men for the job. 7) I have said repeatedly and over and over again immigration is a massive issue, and we need reform.Do i think a wall fixes that problem , or even puts a dent into it? Hell no. Does not mean i am for open borders etc..it means we need genuine reform. Go back to Govt closed down thread, i was strongly pox on both their houses ?Health care and health insurance i have readily admitted is beyond my scope..i am not an expert, and just cause Republicanss say bad, i do not condemn thecurrentt policy. Much as just cause the Dems say good, i am not all in on what we have. Don'tt understand a lot of it ? I am pro life , struggle with the ***** and sex crime aspect of it..flip side i am anit capital punishment..as i said i am pro life 9) 100 % believe and have said on here the right to bear arms is a fundamental right in this country..dont see the need for assault rifles, want very strong background checks. 10) I do believe the climate is changing, i believe the science behind it, don't think it is 100% man made..buty i think it ridiculous to think it is all a liberal conspiracy. I will go so far as to tell you i do NOT recycle the majority of my trash..as i have done extensive research and it al points to 90% of recycling is a net negative 11) for college, i believe in some "set asides" based on income, not race. I guess you name me a an issue, I will tell you my stance.. Now you go ahead and find any instance where i have taken a "liberal" stance..and that does mean an anti Trump stance, that means a liberal policy stance. I have a feeling you will struggle What i dont care about is what you do with any consenting adult in your bedroom, i don't t believe any one religion is better than the next, I think as a matter of fact religious folks tend to be the most hypacritical folks in the land. I believe our leaders should be held to a higher standard, that i should be able to trust what they say with out "figuring it out", that sometimes a racist tweet/ act is just that...
  18. how did i miss these massive injustices to the right that now necessitate a massive pity party. especially as i have always been right of center? i don't ever recall any one calling me , or my thoughts racist. I don't recall GWB being called racist or a Nazi but for maybe a few lunatics.I don't recall McCain or his supporters being called racist or Nazi in the whole That being said, when someone on the right, especially their talking head voices, behaved with what many believe are racially motivated diatribes or actions, they got called out on it, as they should be. As someone who leans right, they were never me , those folks never represented my views, they were them. People called them racist, not me. Should the left be able to act with impunity and say..what the hell, the right gunna label me a socialist and communist and someone who hates my country i will act that way!
  19. i'm just bustin, but to quote a GDP memo that was leaked to the media as somehow evidence that a GDP president has not done anything wrong, especially with the heat he is taking over the chants, after all you all say on how good he is in deflecting attention..when no one can dispute that notion on the record as it was a closed door session...color me a little less than impressed
  20. ? case closed ....GDP staff memo said so!!!!!
  21. okay, I got it now. When you say all in a group feel/act/vote one way, that's just telling the truth. When the DEms/left do it, its playing identity politics and racist. Got it now, thank you for explaining it to me! And good to know every African American woman in politics is the exact same..enlightened thinking there!!
  22. man, the pile is high is this tweet
