no, what has been said in this thread lately is two fold 1) the media is somehow concotting or distorting economic numbers in an effort to "get Trump" 2) that effort being taken to erode consumer confidence..when there is one and only one person who is doing that right now..and its trump. And unlike the majority of Trump supporters, we said the economy based on the numbers was rolling last year, even though we loathed Trump.. but the question was could the short term effects of the tax cut hold out long term. Just like the majority of us are saying now we are not in a recession, but if Trump keeps on this silly trade path he may just take us there. And not to pick bones..but damn a couple pages back you stated consumer confidence and spending is a key to our economy, and here you seem to say " eh..who needs more stuff, we all got enough"..and lets leave the 1.4 billion consumers in China out of the plans for growth. And you want to stop doing business with countries who spy on us or we spy against? Take Israel and the UK out your trading network. Or places where illegal drugs come from? Take Canada and Mexico out of the trading network. Thats 3 out of the top 4 and 4 out of top 6 trading partners... Again, you want it both ways

Sooo, let me get this straight on Thursday, this was you stance so, the economy was great, the media was just yapping about a "downturn" to get Trump. And i was told by you and and @Buffalo_Gal that consumer confidence was key to good economy. Today, suddenly, in the midst of the "greatest economy ever" you have been preparing for a downturn for a long time now and state it is unavoidable as Trump shatters consumer confidence across the globe. And, yet, according to you, the media is running an influence campaign in reporting the very same facts that you claim to have been preparing for a long time. Good to have it both way I spose! You realize you are Trumps wet dream and are a witness to the 5th avenue shooting no?

Why they call it "F" Street
plenzmd1 replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
While this is the real right amassed, the better answer is L’enfant hate John Jay and his treaty with Brits, and being a typical Frenchman refused to have his initials on street ! that is a much more fun reason! -
Ruth Bader Ginsberg has pancreatic cancer

Why they call it "F" Street
plenzmd1 replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Little OT..but did you know there is no "J" street in the District? Do you know why? -
Yes sir..cause we all agree consumers are driving this economy..and Trump is more concerned about "wining" a trade war and leaving 1BILLION consumers with less buying power!!! 4D chess there @Deranged Rhino, i love ya brother, and take you at your word freedom and liberty is more important to you than party..the words"i hereby order" not concerning to you at all what Trump things about those subjects?

so, now the WSJ is in on the "get Trump" campaign? When the WSJ on May 8 2018 ran this report I did not hear any thing about bias..wonder why? https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-future-of-americas-economy-looks-a-lot-like-elkhart-indiana-1522942393 But I guess its only biased when it reports numbers that do not fit the Trump narrative..(whatever that narrative may depending on the day of the week)

that is a ridiculous clip, and i do mean ridiculous. 1) Fox and Friends..cmon DR be like me citing TBD as a bastion of Objectivity when it comes to the Pats. If that's the best ya got, case closed 2) Bond yields here .https://www.cnbc.com/bonds/....only one number but you tying up money for 10 years to get same return as 2 year? 3) consumer confidence and spending was through the roof in 2007 too.....just remember you can never go broke fading the opinion of the public on just about anything 4) you know who else was all in on the 2007 economy..the guy who is the top Economic advisor in all the land right now https://www.nationalreview.com/kudlows-money-politics/recession-debate-over-larry-kudlow/ 5 )having said that, lets hope it stays high( and thank god we hold Target) But i ain't gonna ignore warning signs that maybe CEOs are a bit ahead of the public on economic conditions 6) we are not in a recession, what people fear is the some of the underlying numbers are not great and that is in a time where govt spending and the deficit ate exploding, usually not two things associated with a great economy. The numbers are the numbers..i just fail to understand how numbers can be biased. 7) If you believe Trump truly understand the economy and has your best interests at heart, than you have to accept the notion that he is also worried about some key economic indicators right now .He freely admitted this week his trade policies could lead to a recession, and that the administration has discussed payroll tax cuts...so is he nuts too and just leading a charge of pessimism? On this debate it is truly shocking to see the Cult of Trump come to the forefront. Economic numbers do not lie. Deficit, GDP, Yield Curves, consumer spending, Capital Investment, inventories, etc are real numbers..plain and simple. Some of them are positive now, some are negative. But in the Cult of Trump..all positive numbers can be attributed to Trump and his mastery of the economy, all negative numbers are a media hoax designed to stone the chosen one.

disingenuous comment..Obama inherited an economy in the midst of the biggest recession in 40 years..exactly when government spending should increase to stimulate growth. Trump inherited a good economy, and yet will more than double the deficit in Obamas last year., and triple it from the 3 years previous.in supposedly , in Trumps words. the best economy ever. All Figures from the CBO Fiscal 2013: $680 billion Fiscal 2014: $485 billion Fiscal 2015: $438 billion Fiscal 2016: $587 billion Fiscal 2018: $779 billion (9 months of tax cuts being in effect) Fiscal 2019: $896 billion Fiscal 2020: $990 billion Fiscal 2021: $1,092 billion Fiscal 2022: $1,250 billion So fiscal 2022 is projected to be well over a 100% increase, and that is if we see no economic downturn and see receipys fall and Trump does not incast any addtional tax decreases to try and stimulate the economy..which he has said he is considering ...some great fiscal conservative Trump is. But again, trust in Trump..he will have the budget balanced quickly and the national debt paid off in 8 years.

Why does reporting economic data make me a debbie downer? If you want to bury your head in the sand and never see real economic data, your choice. I prefer not to believe something something just cause someone tells me it is so( hmm, where have a heard that before), and you believe everything Trump and his admin tell you to believe, again your choice and makes things easy. Let me ask you a question, and please answer honestly..,did you care about the deficit under Obama and criticize him for it? How has that changed no that trump is in office?
-
#1) Are you saying that numbers put out by BEA and CBO and the the Fed are cooked? I think that is what you are saying. And i mean, I guess this revision does not count as it does not support the thesis of best ever economy and numbers always adjusted up? https://www.bea.gov/news/2019/gross-domestic-product-4th-quarter-and-annual-2018-third-estimate-corporate-profits-4th #2) Consumer confidence is the prolly the most important component of our economy..consumer spending is 70% of GDP. That being said, consumers also have a right to know the underlying economic data ..are you and DR seem to be saying the media should not report all the numbers and just cheerlead and say "nothing to see here, all is well cause Trump is POTUS". aint no spin..numbers be numbers be numbers..I mean I still cant believe the conservative press is not reporting the deficit s it should, that is the real spin going on.... only real spin is by guys like Kudlow and Trump devotees who refuse to believe any data that does not support the second coming thesis espoused by Trump
-
so, how is reporting numbers put out by government agencies and using Trumps own words "media campaign"
-
you motivated me..dialing as we speak..not sure whether to thank you or punch you in the nose at the Pats game
-
i said a few pages back..Trump talked a better game than Obama and it showed in the consumer confidence number..and consumer spending. But now that government DATA, empirical data mind you, is being reported , and those numbers are not great...that confidence is prolly going to be eroded. So be it. I am really shocked to hear you of all people saying the media should only tell the rosy part of stories, and not report the whole story. That is a switch for you. And how in holy hell is reporting numbers put out by government agencies bad? How come i did not hear you crying about the media when they praised the numbers last year? If you are after the messengers..Trump is messenger in chief! He is the one who said " we are looking at payroll tax reductions" and "trade stuff may cause a short term recession" ..should the media not report that?
-
i will indulge some of your other stuff, but to say the economic numbers are an influence campaign is pure nuttiness...they are economic data. Should it not be reported? Are you saying best to stick your head in the sand and just hope for the best? Your boy Donald Trump himself is acknowledging some of the indicators and talked openly about levers he is considering cause the R word is a possibiity...is he part of the campaign designed to sow fear, divison, and to "get Trump"??????? I heard no such criticism when the numbers were good, but now that we are seeing some numbers weaken it is a media driven event?? Dude, cmon on..you gonna die on the hill that Economic numbers are a media creation designed to "get Trump"
-
again..CMON MAN!!!!!You answered nothing. We are talking the economy .the numbers are the freaking numbers are you saying the Fed made up the manufacturing numbers for the first two quarters the CBO is making up the deficit numbers the BEA is making up the GDP Numbers The media created a hologram of Trump sayin a short trem recsion is possible and he is considering addtional payroll tax cuts The media cabal/power elites really are enjoyin stellar returns on their portfolis the last two years as pissants like me wtah zero growth in almost two years on my index funds, and the bond graphs that show a poop ton of people would rather tie up thier money for 10 years at a rate lower than the retun in two years is a media fabrication? That is one hell of a conspiracy theory even for you?!!!!!!
-
so, you wont answer my question? How are the economic numbers a media creation?

Trump: Jews Are Disloyal
plenzmd1 replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
might not be a bad idea..(takes cover) and let me say this..I did not know the "disloyal" part is considered an anti-Semitic remark..learn something every day. I thought people were just mad Trump was saying people were disloyal based on who they vote for..and seeing how he is the second coming i can see how he can take offense to people not voting for God himself!
