  1. I still think that Williams was one of three big reasons that TD was fired. McGahee, who has never proven to be anything more than an average back, wasn't worth the investment of time or $, especially considering he gave nothing for more than a full season while his knee healed. TD always defended MW, even after he was signed by (I think it was the Jags, right?) after the Bills cut him. His quote was, "That's a great signing". And then of course there was the JP Losman trade-up. I can't forget that video from the 2004 draft room, when TD got off the phone and arrogantly stated that some team or other wanted too much to trade up for Roethlisberger. Granted, we did draft Lee Evans, but JP was TD's guy, and when that pick was made, you could see others in the room not looking altogether excited about it. These 3 first round busts (mcgahee isn't a bust except for the value in money and time invested in him...he's not even a top 20 back, and never was.) sealed TD's fate - you can't miss on that many critical money picks.
  2. Hi Lori. Yeah, I was referring to today's video interview. Turn up the sound so you can hear the questions. A few folks have turned this thread into a "DJ is boring and says nothing" thread but that wasn't my intention. I like DJ, and I'd love the guy if he can sweep Belichick and get us back into the tournament. I don't have a problem with DJ's answers, although he does have some amusing habits.
  3. Instead of rambling on about TO's stardom before not really even asking a question in the end, or blathering and stammering about this and that, ending in a question that cannot have a useful answer....You're embarrassing yourselves and wasting our and his time. How about asking relevant football questions, or perhaps asking DJ how much it bothers him that he has never beaten Belichick and how important he thinks it might be to get the team over the psychological hump of beating the best football mind in the game...there are at least a dozen timely and pointed questions they could pluck from this topic alone. But instead Jauron is asked AGAIN about TO's celebrity. As if they don't know DJ by now. Ridiculous...
  4. is it over and official, set at 3 games, or are we waiting on and hoping for leniency? If Vick only got 4 games, it's hard for me to imagine Marshawn getting stuck with 3. I haven't been following the story but I hope it hasn't been finalized...little help?
  5. Las Vegas Locomotives? What idiot thought of that, and what moron approved it? Locomotives? Las Vegas? Wasn't there someone smarter around, like a half-wit, who could have come up with something like the Las Vegas Aces? Heck, even Kings or Jacks would work. Locomotives? WTF? But...who cares?
  6. actually, whenever he was healthy, he looked pretty good. He was looking really good as a rook until that broken foot. Tough to come back from that quickly. And then the back thing. Nobody even knew he had a back injury until the colts negated the trade, then it became known why he wasn't seeing the field. And apparently he and Kollar were oil and water. Now he's in a contract year, conveniently. So he'll probably surprise us.
  7. Because the Donahoe era jerseys are still some of the ugliest duds I've ever seen. And these throwbacks are so classic, so football, so sharp. How can they go back to those Alouette-like jerseys after coming out in these great new throwbacks in week 1? I'm not a jersey wearing kinda guy, but I'd show my support by buying three if it meant the Bills made these official and permanent. Who's with me? Can I get a fuggin A?
  8. I don't. He had plenty of opportunity to prove himself, but what he proved is that he's a one read QB who can't on his own parse exotic looks, rendering him unable to run a no-huddle or react on the fly. This is why so many plays broke down so quickly. First read covered? Run! I can't count the number of times I slapped my forehead watching him panic when nobody was within six feet of him. He's a backup at best, really a 3rd guy. And the lack of interest in him speaks volumes to this. That said, he's a good guy and I wish his football brains matched his athleticism. He'll play for someone, either in Canada or this new strange league that nobody will watch.
  9. I only needed to read your thread-starting post. If there were 800 pages, would I be required to read them all before replying? I think not. This false premise you two are using is ridiculous. But consistent. Accusations? None made. Judgments? Well, you're clearly the authority on snap judgments. I merely said that your claim that the Bills are idiots for drafting Byrd over Brown is asinine. Which it is. So you modified your post later on? Good for you. It must mean that you agree with me to an extent.
  10. He told me nothing of consequence, which is apparently the quality bar you set for your own posts, too. Let Byrd play a fuggin game before you judge him. I'll bet by the end of the season you'll wish you had reserved judgment.
  11. I don't scan every post, a-wipe. A post, particularly a thread starter, should stand on its own. I replied to an asinine post.
  12. Ah, the offseason, where idiotic posts like this are the norm. One comment about a player before he has played a down in the NFL and suddenly the Bills are idiots. How many rookies have gotten "good press" like this only to disappear once the ball is live? What kind of childish mind do you have that you would react with such negativity because someone wrote something about a DE's strength? Does that make him an impact football player? How about deferring judgment until AT LEAST the end of the season, when we've had a chance to see the impact Byrd can make on the D. I'm excited about that guy. Kripes this place is such a playground sometimes.
  13. Uh, yea, bourbonboy. He was a rookie. That's what you do to rookie corners. You design routes to expose their inexperience. I'm not sure why this was particularly intriguing, considering it's a factor in every game. The point was not about Leodis, it was about how they changed strategies on the fly. That's the strength of the Patriots, no asterisk.
  14. 14. Jack Tatum. I remember that quote mentioned in an old NFL Films piece. I'd like to know who uttered 20. The guy that said that should not still be coaching. It can't be too recent, like Mora's "playoffs?!", because it's far worse than that, and so we'd have heard about it ad infinitum. This one is far funnier than Mora's outburst... Hey wait: Google.
  15. the problem with cowherd: *He has an awful track record of making predictions. I still recall how he said that Nick Saban is going to be the next Belichick and he would stake his reputation on him winning a Super Bowl within 5 years. *He tends to ride waves. you don't hear colin cowherd breaking ground in the realm of ideas. And you don't hear him say something about the game or its players that hasn't already been said. So, I'd be more concerned if Cowherd was praising our offseason and predicting an AFC Championship.
  16. Too bad it starts with a ridiculous error. "Being the first player ever drafted into the NFL from Troy" Sorry, Mike Burns, but if you're going to be in this business, you should know your business.
  17. Yes, he is that good, and no amount of "yeah buts" will change that. He's the smartest/best strategist and tactician in the game, period.
  18. Sigh...you must be kidding if you think that the Patriots would have Nooo Ideea what to expect from us, a young team installing a no-huddle for the first time, which will require extensive practice and certain appearances in public practices if not right in a preseason game. Scouts for both week 1 teams abound in training camp. Nothing gets by NFL teams. It's their job to be prepared. Besides, every team's defense rehearses the no-huddle. If they don't, they're idiots. We play Belichick week 1. I uh...I think he'd be ready for the no-huddle even if these articles weren't written. So to call our coaching staff stupid for talking about this? *That* is really stupid...
  19. How many of these posts are we going to see for the next year? Everything I've read and heard is that Tebow is not considered to be much of a pro QB prospect beyond a wildcat/special situations guy. Bad delivery, not a pro system, etc.
  20. I can't believe the NFL is dumb enough to INCREASE the likelihood of judgment calls in the game. These rule changes are mystifying, and this trend of pussifying the game threatens to ruin it entirely. No peelback blocks on teams? Are you kidding me? The new bet: How many big ST returns will the Bills have called back on debatable calls? How many games will be swung in one team's favor due to the infinite "wisdom" of a ref? They just made the zebras freelance players in the game. Who the hell voted for this crap... http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1...bd-c8b39a5b0f4e
  21. Bummer indeed. Jack was one of the best and most consistent (and influence-free) thinkers in government. A real pragmatist.
  22. Your "truths" are opinions. The "names" you wanted were just names you became familiar with. You're a bag o chips on the couch guy, and you think you know more than the Bills coaches about talent and scheme fits? Keep that hand in the bag, buddy. You have a problem with "1 year wonders" but you refer to Peters as an all pro. Here's news for ya: Peters was a one year wonder, too. There is absolutely nothing wrong with 2, 3, and 4. In fact, this post of yours is so juvenile, so whiny, so hollow, I'm gonna stop bothering to respond. Later, Bag O' Chips Guy.
  23. Nice post, John! I'm with ya. I really liked this draft. I'm thrilled that we got the consensus #1/1a rated center and consensus #1 rated guard. We have needed that for so long. Duke Preston was all talk and no production, while Fowler had the brains but no brawn, so it worked until he faced a 3-4 nose. Never could get anything resembling a push. And like you, I had both arms up, Touchdown-style, when I saw Nelson's name on the board. I was saying, "It's gotta be a tight end, it's gotta be a tight end, it's gotta be a tight end..." Bam. I had read a lot about the TEs in this draft, and watched a lot of their plays. All the mocks had him going in the 2nd, almost all of them I think - Even Gosselin, the most accurate predictor of the top 100 players year after year. Had him at 50. I was really surprised, and could not believe he was still there. I also liked James Casey and Bear Pascoe a lot, and was really surprised to see Casey last until the 5th, Pascoe the 6th. This was a great year to need a TE in the draft. Even coming off a shockingly disappointing season, I do have a different feeling about our 53 this year. Even though we're likely starting 0-1.
