  1. This might help you then http://15.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_kp96g8MFRX1qz6f9yo1_500.jpg
  2. Throw, catch, block, tackle Run and run some more: Simple Come on guys, mmkay?
  3. I thought they were both better than *that*. I figured no way both would even clear waivers...and yet nobody apparently thinks they're good enough for their practice squad. Interesting stuff. I think both will find a team at some point this year as the injuries pile up, but from the looks of the waiver wire, the Bills waived the right set of guys.
  4. Dang. The Lions claimed Havner off waivers. The Packers are deep at TE - was hoping Havner would clear because we would likely have had a good shot, considering FAs tend to like to sign where they have a legitimate chance to start.
  5. The guy I'd love to see us pick up (while waiving Foschi) is cut Packers TE Spencer Havner.
  6. the only shocker is donald jones over chad jackson. there must be a mental makeup issue we're not aware of because i don't recall a single play by jones and i thought jackson was our 4th best receiver through preseason. hardy can kiss it.
  7. This article reinforces what I've said about both Trent and Jauron's coaching. Jauron nearly ruined Trent, but I recall the kid who impressed us all with his quick reads/release, accuracy, and command of the huddle. Nobody could have fared well with the many unbelievable things DJ did last year which don't need to be brought up again. But the thing that bothers me the most is not who he cut or fired 1 week before the games started, but who he failed to bring in. The Bills were the only team without a freaking QB coach. Probably the only team in decades without a QB coach. Van Pelt, clearly over his head, was both a first time coordinator and the QB coach. Which of course means he wasn't coached at all. I like AVP but he was brought in as a fan/owner pleaser - he was not qualified to run an NFL offense unless that offense expected results of the 'mediocre at best' variety. The teams we beat last year we beat because we had a defense that was occasionally competent and took the ball away. It's astounding to me that the players didn't rip DJ about his lack of adjustments. But, I think I understand why, at least partly. Because they liked him as a man if not as a coach who can win. It's no different from how many fans, including me, defended Jauron for too long because he's a stand up guy that's respected around the league. I promise, I've learned my lesson: Never again will I give a coach the benefit of the doubt just because he's not a douchebag. Being a good guy should be par for the course, just as it is (or should be) in our lives. Not a quality that makes one exceptional. F*@#$!, are you kidding me? No adjustments? No wonder they ALWAYS got their ass handed to them in the second half.
  8. First off, I know, I know...nothing is carved in stone, it's just a pecking order because one has to exist. But our QB is going to be Trent. Recall how he played when he first started playing for us. Remember how impressive he was. Recall how his teammates were rallying around him, with some saying that he will be in the same discussion with some of the best in the game today. Then he got his noggin bashed in, teams picked the lock of our offense, and our offensive coaches were never able to readjust and catch anybody by surprise anymore. Last year everyone had had enough of Trent because our offense was just horrid - no matter who pulled the trigger. Trent's regression was due to a colossal failure of COACHING and preparation. Nobody would have fared well with the young, inexperienced line in front of him and a first-time coordinator running a simple bastardization of his own version of Turk's offense, which was his modified version of Fairchild's version of Martz' offense. Last year was an absolute joke offensively. A desperate HC cuts his LT and OC a week before the games begin and gives the responsibility to a first-year QB coach? And then DOES NOT HIRE A QB COACH to keep an eye on Trent's mechanics. Unbelievable. The only team in the NFL with no QB coach. Read between the lines with the comments Trent made this year comparing last year to this year. It was a horrid operation and no player had a realistic chance to be productive. We finally have an offensive HC, and a wise one with lots of experience. We might not be a playoff team but we're going to be fun to watch again because we're going to participate in high scoring games and not those 6-3 snoozefests that were a constant exercise in futility. Trent is going to shine - he'll have his best year this year. Actually, I think any one of these guys would have their best year under Gailey. But Trent will earn back the respect people gave him in his early days. Besides, when it comes to release, nobody on the roster comes close to Trent. He has an exceptional release and a much better deep arm than he's given credit for. Betcha
  9. That's nuttin. Just turn the sound off and behold the explosion
  10. Not revisionist, just not a photographic memory. The bigger point is that he regressed over two years due to a failure of coaching. We had first time coaches (currently not performing the same duties for another team, which is testament to their inadequacy) running a personalized variation of Fairchild's variation of the Martz offense. It was patchwork over patchwork. Add to that terrible offensive strategy and absolutely ABSENT gameday adjustments, and you have a recipe for any young QB to regress.
  11. I think Dilfer is absolutely correct. When he first started playing for us, we all saw it: The efficiency, the accuracy, the control of the huddle. I recall after the SD victory teammates were so high on Trent they couldn't say enough good things about him. Then he got hit, and hit badly, and wasn't quite the same due likely to a combination of the hit, the OLine, the playcalling, and the coaching. Trent's regression, and our frustration with him the last 2 seasons, is due to his level of coaching over that period. We had a first time offensive coordinator the first year of his struggles, and HIS ASSISTANT running it the next. Now don't get me wrong, I have always like AVP. But if you don't think he was over his head and out-classed in terms of strategy, playcalling, and gameday tactics, you're probably a member of the Van Pelt family. Worse, Jauron didn't even give Trent a dedicated QB coach. AVP was preparing and running the offense and serving as QB coach. No QB in the league had LESS COACHING, LESS attention to detail paid to his work on the field. Trent was at a RIDICULOUS disadvantage over the past 2 years. I still believe Trent is a good quarterback and will prove himself to be the best of our current lot.
  12. Well, you know...you can't play football AND wear an ascot. I guess he has chosen ascots. Probably wise.
  13. Meester Dobler, that album (your avatar) is one of my all time favorites. Is it XTC Appreciation Week around here or something? I'll need to change my name to Skylarking.
  14. Great post, made greater by your Black Sea avatar. It's not often you encounter a fellow XTC fan. Best songwriters to never make any money. Ever.
  15. The Huddle Report (which has a fantastic draft record, for what it's worth) has a 1st round grade on Calloway: Kyle Calloway OT Iowa TALENT BOARD Round 1 STRENGTHS Kyle has excellent size, strength and feet to play his position. He is a right tackle with a left tackle heart. By that, I mean he takes pride in pass blocking and protecting his QB. He is a powerful run blocker and does a very good job blocking in space and moving to the next level. Most of the time he is not covered up when blocking on passing plays with a TE. He does not get overpowered when being bull rushed. Kyle is smart, shows mental stamina and does not get beat by the same move twice if he gets beat at all. I suspect that once Kyle works out at the combine, he will show enough athletic talent to play left tackle at the next level. However, even if he does not, Kyle (right now) shows Pro Bowl right tackle skills. NEEDS TO IMPROVE He is stronger than most of the players he plays against right now and does get up too high at times. He gets a little lazy when pass blocking once he drives his man past his QB and looks to help his line mates out a little too quickly. All of this is nit picking and can all be corrected. BOTTOM LINE I'm calling him Kyle (Right Away) Calloway because you can draft this kid and plug him into your offensive line at the right tackle position right away. He can play Right tackle in his sleep, but I believe he could also play the left tackle position also at a very high level. I will be surprised if by the time the draft comes around he is not considered a top draft choice, but I have been surprised before. You are talking about an offensive lineman who can pass block, run block, has the athletic agility to go out to the second level and combo block, can move out and block on screen plays and can be used in a pulling system. What more are you looking for in an offensive lineman? I suspect that playoffs teams at the end of the first round are going to be salivating over the possibility of drafting this kid. Kyle's ability to play the left tackle position will dictate where he will be drafted. Workouts and a demonstration of his ability to switch to the other side will move him up the draft boards. For me, it won't matter much...he is a first rounder and he will play right away.
  16. This is the best Bills forum but it's just intolerable today. People get so attached to names. The claims about Cam Thomas, who fell to the 5th for a reason, being better than Troupe are just laughable. How about we let them play a while first, huh?
  17. You'll fit in well here. The place is loaded with armchair scouts who think they know what the hell they're talking about because they read a few blogs.
  18. You are a freaking joke. Clausen and other "names" fell for a reason. You say Cam Thomas is better than Troupe? LOL why do you even bother speaking? CAM THOMAS FELL ALL THE WAY TO THE FIFTH ROUND for a reason, Einstein. You have NO IDEA where Troupe would have gone had the Bills not taken him. He might have been the very next pick taken. The Bills scouts thought he was the best NT. And you know better? Or maybe a few amateur blogs? Please. I don't believe Troupe would have gotten out of the 2nd round, no way. Take some Nyquil and call it a day.
