I'm 43 and clearly have a much better handle on Jauron's football history than you do. Dick Jauron inspires his players? Wow, you didn't drink the kool-aid, you chugged it. It's now become a BIG myth that Jauron's teams "play" their hearts out for him. Where the hell was this EFFORT the last three games last year? The games that actually made the DIFFERENCE between the Bills making the playoffs and them sitting at home. They played the most uninspiring football I've ever seen by a Bills team, that's what they did. So there goes that inspiration theory. I'm sorry that you're still clinging to this myth of Jauron being a good head coach, I saw the light early on last season and Bear's fans will be more than happy to tell you the rest of the story. I'm just trying to help you understand how wrong you are, but please be my guest and devote your time elsewhere. I could care less.

You're the moron if you think that Jauron doesn't have a HUGE say in the offensive gameplanning. Because if he was letting Steve Fairchild run our team into the ground last year without changing the vanilla course then Jauron's a bigger idiot than I thought he was. I love you guys, you seriously crack me the f up. You have this opinion that all's Jauron needs to become this great coach is a great QB. Once he gets that QB, the skies the limit baby! Give us all a break please, to believe this is to ignore seven seasons worth of head coaching that tells you the exact opposite. If he were given a great QB, that QB would end up having one lack-luster season after another. Jauron doesn't trust in his players. History is on my side, and you're calling me the moron? You are so delusional, you have no clue.

I truly believe that if Dick Jauron were given the undiscovered Tom Brady or even Brent Favre, that both QBs would have had very NFL average careers. Everything in Jauron's DNA tells him that interceptions are a mortal sin and to never allow his QB throw a pass until it is absolutely necessary (see third and longs), and when he does feel a little crazy and let's him pass on first or second downs it is of the one to five yard variety. Jauron is a horrible head coach because he doesn't trust in his players to make plays and this is the reason his teams always suck against tough competition. No guts no glory, playing not to lose will get you beat more often then get you the victory. I hate, yes HATE, Dick Jauron's coaching style and can't wait till he's long gone from Buffalo.

Dick Jauron is a coach that will only get you so far. He is certainly NOT the second coming of Bill Belichick that someone here laughably suggested. I think he's a nice, classy guy who's a very good coach as a defensive coordinator. However, Dick Jauron happens to be a lousy head football coach if you are judging him on his now very long losing record, his ability to beat winning teams, his ability to coach his teams into the playoffs and then win those playoff games. Jauron will win enough games to be respectable, but that's it. Be honest, do you have any belief that Dick could ever be able to put together enough wins against the good to very good NFL teams when his teams have never been able to in the past? I'm sorry, but I emphatically don't. He just doesn't have what it takes on Sundays to beat the good NFL teams on a regular basis. Why? Who knows why, but his record is crappy against good teams. I don't want to hear about deficiencies. After seven seasons, excuses are for losers. To be fair, Dick Jaroun's future in the league is as an NFL defensive coordinator or possibly as a GM. That looks to be what he is truly good at. I just hope the transition to the next coaching regime will be very smooth with little player turnover because we now have a playoff worthy team in place.

Tom Waddle is a Chicago guy and I would bet a friend of Jauron's. So I wouldn't get to crazy about his endorsement. That being said, I think the Bills are a sleeping Giant if Jauron let's his team play to win the games this year.

Enough draft talk, open letter to Dick Jauron...

First off, I never said our line sucks. Do you have a reading comprehension problem? Secondly, try looking at the yards per carry. That is the stat that matters that will tell you how good your offensive line is at running the football. You're insane if you think our line can grind it out all season long. Ain't gonna happening with our line. Losman's been benched, Fairchild has left the building and now with the drafting of Hardy, there are no more excuses left for Jauron as to why our offense sucks. He hits the road if there are no playoffs, Ralph even has his limits on patience. -

I am extremely high on this Bills team. I see them and the Jaguars as the two wild card teams. Only the Pats, Colts, Chargers, Steelers, Jags will be better teams then them in the AFC. The Browns' schedule and super-high expectations will sink their playoff aspirations. I see the Bills and the Browns becoming the future powerhouses of the AFC, once the Pats and Colts start coming back down the mountain. I think the Bills are only a very good DE, C and Guard away from a bonified Superbowl run. What they need this year is to go into games with the attitude that that they know that they're the better team. The rebuilding process is over, it's playoff time this year. If they don't do get there, Jauron should fire himself with that schedule. -
I think the Bills biggest draft mistake was not drafting Jeremy Zuttah (OL, Rutgers) in the third. I just get bad vibes from what I'm hearing and reading about this guy Ellis. We'll probably have to draft a DE in the first round next year so why bother with a potential problem child with a high probability of falling flat on his face. Maybe a guy like Stroud can straighten out his attitude.

I was fully supportive of Jauron until it was clear as day early on last season he wasn't going to give his starting QB the chance to fail or succeed. He never put the ball in the most important player's hands, but rather he took the air out of the ball and hoped the opposing team would make the mistake that would give the Bills the win. He never gave Lynch and Parrish the proper amount of chances to catch the ball and make plays. He gets a pass on defense, I fully understand how the injury situation effected our defense. But with the Bills humming along in the second half of 2006, to then draft Lynch and completely turn the offense into the most vanilla version ever trotted out onto an NFL field, it made my toleration of Dick Jauron and his "style" lower than low. I have never hated a Bills offensive system and approach more than I did last year. It's not even about Fairchild anymore, it is clear to me that Jauron is too fearful of a head coach to ever have a playoff caliber offense. For Trent Edwards sake, I hope he can change his ways. If he doesn't then the Bills may be looking for yet another QB to go along with their head coaching search. Jauron ran a neutered offense in 2007 and if he plans on going that route again he might as well submit his resignation because he won't survive the justifiably angry mob after we miss the playoffs yet again. -

Dick Jauron has had a very long history of being a losing NFL head coach. 7 seasons worth in fact. Do you really believe that Jauron is some great football mind that simply has had a ridiculously long run of bad luck? How fast was JP run out of here and he got what, 3 seasons? Dick Jauron will be head coaching his eighth NFL team in 2008 and I see no reason why the Buffalo Bills or it's fans should be extending him any benefit of the doubt. Dick Jauron HIMSELF said that the NFL is a performance based business, when describing the starting QB situation...well, the same standard applies to the head coach. Just because you are a nice and classy guy does not mean you get to coach the Bills year after year, if in the end you fail to get your team to a playoff birth. I'm sorry, but that is how it is plain and simple. -

Please exaggerate a little bit more. BTW, they got that record by beating the NFL's little sisters of the poor. -
Plus I look at the other teams around the NFL and I don't see many that are as talented as we are (of the non playoff teams). We have a lot of good players now and should be able to beat some playoff quality teams also. This team is young and hungry and should be making some major waves this coming season. I seriously can't wait.
-
Hey, not that it matters much but I see we can finally agree on something.
-
Let me say this again...our defense now has Stroud, Poz, Mitchell and McKelvin. Our defense is very solid. Our special teams are solid. Edwards, Evans, Parrish, Lynch, Jackson and Hardy are a solid group of players to score touchdowns in their sleep if our coach has the balls to actually let them play. Our team is chock full of very talented NFL players and the only reason they tank is because of the head coach. If JP can run out of excuses after only three seasons, then Jauron doesn't get a ninth season to prove himself as a head coach if number eight proves to be another B word.

It's no wonder why you're such a big fan of Dick Jauron.

This being your last chance to prove yourself as an NFL head coach, here's what you need to do: The offensive team you currently have is not of the "three yards and a cloud of dust, grind it out" mold. You currently do NOT have the offensive line to do this. Only teams that have the top notch run blockers up front can get away with this plan of attack. This team doesn't have that. What this team WILL excel at is being a "pass first to set up the run" type of offense. You need to trust in your offensive playmakers...Edwards, Evans, Hardy, Parrish, Lynch, Jackson and Royal. Give Turk enough leash to throw the ball around to everyone early in games, get them all involved, score touchdowns. Keep defenses off balance, be unpredictable, throw the damn ball to Marshawn. Once you establish the passing game, Lynch will no doubt become the pro bowl runningback we all know he can be once the defenses stop stacking the line. Our offensive line will have a chance blocking seven, not eight guys in the box. The defensive team you currently have is now ready to take that big step into the top ten of the league. I have faith that with you being a defense coach, you'll be able to make it happen barring injuries. That was a legit excuse last year. If all stay healthy, your Bills should be a top ten defensive unit. I trust that you can accomplish this. The special teams have been one of the best in the league. I expect this trend to continue. So there you have it, now go and get er done Dick or step aside. Time for this team to finally get back into the playoffs where they belong. This team has been an embarrassment for the last time, for a long time. We Bills fans are expecting the next great era of the Buffalo Bills to begin in 2008, and we can't wait for the fun ride to begin.
-
I'm just relieved that Dick Jauron's been fired, man we've had an unlucky streak with bad coaches. So who do we go with here? Since the right side of the offensive line never really gelled in 2008, I say we take one of the tackles, kick Walker inside and try Butler at center. http://www.gbnreport.com/2009projection.html

The Bills have an easy schedule this year. The Bills now have Stroud, Poz, Mitchell, and McKelvin added to their defense. The Bills now have a true #2 wide receiving threat opposite Lee Evans with the addition of James Hardy. The Bills should easily get a total of 9 wins with their current roster. I know that you're a huge supporter of Dick Jauron, but I think it's outlandish for you to say that this team only gets 6-8 wins. If this Bills team gets 6-8 wins Dick Jauron's time is up! Buh bye, see ya, wouldn't want to be ya. This Bills team is now loaded for bear and the only way they screw it up is with coaching, which is why we would end up with 6-8 wins. Sorry, but that's how it is from where I see things.

I'm very wary of DE's drafted by our Bills team. These guys almost always are never what they're advertised to be. This Ellis pick is a "show me" pick with a whole lot of skepticism for me. Not going to get excited about this guy. -
I thinks it's going to be the supersized TE, Brad Cottam. The Bills are clearly supersizing this offseason.
-
He's athletic in a tight end kind of way. He looks much too lumbering to make a serious impact as a starting outside NFL reciever. Just because a guy excels at the college level doesn't automatically mean that will translate on the pro level. Nelson looks like a great college receiver that will make a good slot and backup NFL receiver. He is in no way shape or form, the answer to the Bills #2 receiver problems.

FWIW, Devin Thomas on Rome tomorrow
1billsfan replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thomas will not be as good as Kelly, Sweed or Hardy, yet many are expecting the Bills to take him anyways because of his "measurables". That is a recipe for disaster. This guy only had one good season in college and a lot of that was of the short passing play, run after the catch variety. He's superfast, but where the heck were the down the field break the back TD catches that Kelly, Sweed and Hardy have had and for a lot longer carreers in college???? Thomas has first round bust written all over him as far as I'm concerned. I'm hoping the Bills get one of the big three Kelly, Sweed or Hardy. These guys are ready made from day one and can make the back breaking TD catches that Thomas never has really shown. With that speed he should be the next Lee Evans, but he looks more like the next Josh Reed only faster. Please Buffalo, do NOT take this guy. -
I disagree. I think he'll wind up a decent slot receiver in the NFL, certainly not a starting #2 receiver. He just is not athletic enough to translate that college success to the pro wide out level. Slot receiver is his role in the NFL. To me he looks like the offensive version of a Chris Kelsay, he's good but he's not a good enough athletically to be anything of real worth in a starting role. He's the receiver version of the "high motor" guy who'll be a serviceable player but not excel. He most definitely is not the answer to our #2 WR problem. Because won't ever scare off NFL defenses from double teaming Lee Evans.
