Two days out, after all of my draft analysis,

Look buddy, I'm smarter than you. The same can't be said for DRC, don't even think about challenging me on this. -
Excellent Bills Pre-Draft Analysis

Did Kelsay and Denny suddenly beef up on steroids this offseason???? Put in Merling in the search box... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/...aft/2008/video/ Sorry, but I see no comparison with our two "high-motor" do nothing DEs. Kelsay and Denny are certainly not in the beefy brutish mold of this guy Merling. Body-wise, this guy looks like he's more in the mold of Reggie White. -

For anyone who missed this little nugget, the Bills were present at Phillip Merling's workout yesterday... http://www.gbnreport.com/ He just might be this year's version of the Whitner WTF pick. -

Funny, your smiley icons are exactly what Bills fans will be doing watching the 2008 season if they pass on DRC and draft Devin Thomas. -

What the heck are you reading???? It sounds like you're reading an inferior draft publication. I got this from NFL.com and it says nothing of him getting beaten badly his whole career, in fact quite the opposite... http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/dominiqu...romartie?id=306 As for being a ferocious tackler, I'd rather have a corner that has the ability to cover, recover and go the distance after interceptions than the guy that is a linebacker in DB clothing. If you really think this guy can't tackle please take a look at this textbook tackle... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFAc3Puo68k This guy is the best CB to come into the league since Deion, Champ and DRC's cousin. I truly believe this. -

Maybe teams weren't throwing his way after his 6 interceptions in the 2006 season. This kid is the quickest, most fluid athlete I've seen in a long time. His feet are amazingly quick. I know we're all about stats and previous production here, but those NFL combine and Senior Bowl performances are all I need to see that this guy is going to be a great NFL corner. When he laid out Adarius Bowman after he caught a pass in the flat, I was sold. This kid looks awesome and I'll officially be bummed out if he's taken before us. BTW, I'm a guy who's a huge fan of Greer. Sorry, but I'm not going to worry about 5 or 6 years down the road. As for the NFL talent evaluator's comment, if he's currently employed by a team picking after the Bills in the first round then he's a damn liar who's only hoping his team gets a chance to select him. -
Last year I was all over the Bills drafting Marshawn Lynch, this year I've been changing a whole lot on what's best for this team. Two days out, this is what I'm rolling with... Plan A: Pick DRC at #11 if he's still there, then use our 4th (and maybe more lower round picks) to trade ahead of SF in the second round to grab Malcolm Kelly, then take Zuttah OL or Pollak C in the third. Plan B: Trade our #11 and #41 picks for Dallas' #22 and #28. Use #22 on Thomas, Sweed or Hardy and #28 on Cason, then take Zuttah OL or Pollak C in the third. First, let me say that I am a huge Greer supporter who was very negative on going CB first round. Well I have changed my mind. I just re-watched the Senior Bowl and the DB's NFL combine and I was just blown away at what DRC would mean to this team. This guy looks like he has off the charts ability and looked so much better than the rest of the DBs that I could not believe it. He would move Greer to the nickel and give us one of the best (if not the best) secondaries in the whole league with the added insurance if a starter were to go down we'd still be ok. DRC is quick, fast, fluid, tall who has all of the confidence in the world. I think that our team would have found the answer to Randy Moss. There is no way Moss can out run this guy and with him being tall it makes Brady's margin of error suddenly very narrow. If he's there, the Bills should (and I think will) take DRC, then work on trading back up to grab Kelly somewhere. If DRC, Albert and Rivers (the only other guys worthy of #11 that would help us) are gone, I want the Bills to trade back (see Plan B).

Would drafting Keith Rivers be a much smarter move
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is see Malcolm Kelly as our guy. All we'd need to do is to jump ahead of SF in the second round which will only take a 4th (we have 2 picks in that round anyways). Throw out the forty times, the guy can play and would be a steal in the second round. -
Would drafting Keith Rivers be a much smarter move
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My point is that he's become the highest rated receiver in this class by default when in reality he really should be the fourth best WR if you base your decisions on what these players have done on the field of play. He's a one year wonder, former JUCO player. The other WRs have been players at a high level for a much longer period of time and have much better size. Their games will translate much better in the NFL than Thomas' run after the catch game. Wasn't that Josh Reed's biggest asset???? Yet THAT never materialized because NFL DBs are just as fast if not faster than NFL WRs. I really hope the Bills don't take the bait on this guy Devin Thomas, he's not the WR we are looking for. The WRs the Bills should really be aiming for is Kelly, Sweed or Hardy (and only in a trade up from their second rd pick)! -

Dude, no one even heard of Devin Thomas when the draft evaluation process started once the 2007 season was in the books. Devin is only on top because of default from bad times, lagging injuries and character issues. Thomas' biggest plus is his speed yet when I see video on him he looks way more like a Josh Reed kind of receiver. He's certainly wasn't a deep threat. It looks like the bulk of his work came after the catch. That's fine and dandy for a second or third round WR, but NOT when you are looking for a game breaking first round WR! The more I look at him, the more I see first round bust that will struggle to even be a starting NFL receiver. He has slot receiver written all over him, which is BAD news if you picked the guy in the first freaking round. I'll say it now...40 times be damned...Kelly, Hardy and Sweed will ALL be better pro receivers than Thomas. Mark it down...Keith Rivers will be a pro bowler, he's has that kind of game changing talent. Devin Thomas will be a bust for whoever picks him, he just doesn't play up to his timed speed or have the game changing attributes you expect from a WR picked in the first round. -

Now that crazy!! True, there's a very good chance Rivers gets picked before us. -

1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's what I think... Probability of Rivers being an very good player (possible pro bowler) on the next level should be around 90%. (given the high success rate at the LB position) Probability of Devin Thomas (not pro bowl material) being a very good player on the next level should be around 40-50%. (given the high bust rate at the WR position) There's a big risk in taking Devin Thomas at #11 and passing over players that are almost guaranteed high impact like Rivers. I'd much rather finish off the defensive rebuild and get a WR with a much longer track record. -
I have this nagging feeling that Keith Rivers is going to be a monster defensive player on the next level. Should the Bills really take the need over much greater value with that first pick? I mean, think about how strong our front seven would be having Rivers in there. I think he's going to be a much better player than either Crowell or Mitchell and the Bills wouldn't have to worry about injury as much. Having Rivers, Poz, Mitchell, Stroud added to our 2008 defense would be sick I tell ya. In regards to the WR position, I think that the Bills should go value with the first pick, then trade back into the later part of the first round to get Sweed, Hardy or Kelly. Three WRs who actually have production more than one season, something that is Thomas' biggest concern. I don't think he's worth risking that #11 pick to find out if he isn't just a one year wonder. Give up a 4th and 5th to jump ahead of SF in the second and draft Hardy or Kelly (whichever one is hopefully still there).

I've been a fan since the OJ Simpson years, so I don't know what you're talking about as far as the "young board" comment. I've seen plenty of bad players and plenty of good players too. I like to think I can be fair-minded about present and former Bills players. So let's talk about the RJ years... RJ had MUCH better offensive players and coaches around him during his years here, than Losman has had. Compare rosters of their best seasons here and it's not even a close argument. Plus Wade wasn't afraid to lose, they threw the ball back then. RJ was only two inches taller than Losman, yet he was far more fragile. I think Trent is more like RJ in the fragile department. Losman had a 300 pound defensive tackle land on his knee, nothing fragile about that injury last year. RJ had far better touch than Losman? Both QBs lacked "touch" on short and intermediate passes. I never viewed RJ as "accurate", not sure where you are getting that from. As for both players' passing ability overall, Losman wins that hands down. When you can throw 19 touchdowns with the offensive talent or lack there of on that 2006 team, that should tell you all you need to know. RJ would have landed in the infirmary in the first quarter of the first game with Peters, Gandy, Fowler, Preston and Pennington as his pass blockers. Losman is deadly accurate on his bombs, RJ was supposed to have this talent but it just never materialized. I know that you only want to compare these guys and not take into account the players and coaches surrounding them, but I can't let you get away with that. RJ's career is in the books. Losman will eventually get another shot to prove the doubters wrong. I see a guy with a ton of ability that is being coached by a bunch of pansy-assed morons who couldn't put a winning gameplan together if their lives depended on it. Is Losman still a work in progress? Yes. Are the Bills pulling the plug too early? Absolutely. That's how I feel and I won't apologize. I will be rooting for Trent to do great things as long as he remains the starting QB on this team. That's a given. I'm just seeing some warning flags in his game that having a smart brain won't be able to fix. His deep passes look weak, he's injury prone and he checks down way too much. I think that the NFL defenses were catching up to his game and that's why he struggled so badly at the end of last year. He has a great release and is very quick to make a decision, but he will have to overcome his deficiencies in his game that I can see. Yes, Trent took to the pro game much quicker than JP, but that doesn't mean that JP won't end up being the better QB. Some guys just take longer to develop. Let's see what happens. See Bill, we still can disagree! We'll come together for the draft though, right?

Pick the Bills first 3 selections
1billsfan replied to Reddy Freddy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Quentin Groves Malcolm Kelly Martellus Bennett Bills make a bunch of moves to get these three guys within the first two rounds. Hey, this contest is fun! -
Funny how a simple two sentence post can turn into an 11 page thread. It's become the thread that wouldn't die! The NFL draft will no doubt put this baby to rest.
-
Did you take a look at his video? As far as size, he's two inches taller and only 10 pounds lighter than Dwight Freeney. I question Harvey's motor, not Groves, after watching both videos. I think a lot of teams are going to be sorry they passed on this guy, especially those that take Harvey and Merling before him.
-
Speaking of heart, it look like his heart is in playing football. Nothing meek or mild about the way he plays the game. Like I said before, Groves looks like so much better of a football player than Harvey.
-
It's not even close. After looking at those two films, Groves looks to be the much better pass rusher and NFL player than Harvey. That guy looks like pro bowl material. Grove's name is never mentioned here, yet we still get twenty "draft Harvey" posts a day. Open your eyes people, Harvey's not even close to being as good as Groves.
-
Anyone check out that film on Quentin Groves???? Holy crap, that guy looks like the best defensive player available in this draft. Why is this guy getting no respect? Look at Harvey's reel, then check out Groves'. Harvey looks like a rather pedestrian pass rusher, while Groves looks like a ferocious beast chasing down the QB. Why do we want Harvey and not Groves again???? Bills should do themselves a big favor and trade down, grab Groves then pick up Kelly WR and Bennett TE with their two second rounders. Why is no one talking about this guy?
-
You're complaining to me how long this thread is? Sorry, but that's a little bizarre to me. As for the "non-story" comment, I thought it was interesting that Brandon made public that Losman would have a chance to earn the starting spot in 2008. If you don't want me to pass this stuff along anymore, that's fine with me.
-
Well see Bill. This should be a fun week here at TSW!
-
Also, don't forget that Greer and McGee have been somehow vastly underrated by so many Bills fans that it's reached crazy level. Other than maybe McKelvin, there are no CBs in this years draft that could unseat either Greer or McGee. I think it's funny that fans here want them to draft a freaking cornerback with so many holes to fill on this team, like the ones that you mentioned.
-
Maybe it's because the JP haters tend to lump the Losman supporters all together. I don't know. I remember a couple of post where some fan(s) were saying things like that and I thought they were idiots for doing so. During the searing QB debate last season I most certainly did "cut down" Edwards in terms of his ability, or lack there of, in throwing touchdown passes, putting points on the board, his performance in the last three games, and leaving Buffalo for three months after his rookie season in which he was named the starter. What, I can only defend Losman as long as I don't knock Trent? This doesn't make any sense, isn't that the point of an argument? As for personal attacks, yes I did attack others that attacked me. Not proud of it, but if you remember it was awfully nasty here while the whole transfer of power was going on, especially if you still thought JP was better than Trent. Some of the Trent supporters were nothing less than ruthless in their enthusiasm towards their hatred for anything positive said of Losman. It's all water under the bridge now. None of which has anything to do with me wanting him to do badly or wanting JP to come back and whip the Bills ass playing for someone else. Look, I hope Trent throws 30 TD passes this season, I hope he is half the QB some here think he is. I want the Bills to win regardless of who is playing what position. Period, end of story. Go Trent!!! Go Bills!!! Jeez, it's become the freaking spanish inquisition around here.

You say that you're giving me the benefit of the doubt, yet call it my M.O.???? Save it assh*le. I'm done with both of you. I refuse to carry on a conversation with a couple of jerks who are spreading outright lies about what I've said about my team. Neither of you morons are worth my time.
