No to Gay Marriage, Yes to breast implants
1billsfan replied to BillsWatch's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The name calling isn't called for Dean. I can see you're somewhat torn on the polygamy issue. I can tell that you think it's weird for a person to have multiple spouses but don't have that same problem with same gender marriages. You sounded a little bigoted there for a moment. If you're going to open the marriage rights for one group you should in fact open it up for all groups. I admit I have a hard time with this issue. I see that there are valid points on both sides. But if pressed, I believe that children today are confused enough as it is and that the laws of marriage should remain as is with legal unions rights being granted to same sex couples but not legal marriages. It's a tough issue for me, but if you are going to grant those rights for same sex couples then it should be extended for polygamous couples also. Could I evolve and change my opinion? Perhaps. Other countries have had this blanket right for a long time so I'm curious what the causes and effects were on the institution of marriage in those places. But I've got to tell you, the name calling isn't going to help your cause Dean. In the end, I think that the states should be the ones who should have the final decision on granting the legalities of marriage in this country. -
No to Gay Marriage, Yes to breast implants

Humility? It's called a personnel belief and she has every right to have that belief and not have to be shamed into some politically correct b_ll sh_t answer. Since polygamy has no impact on you whatsoever, they should be able to practice it. Right? As you see this is not some nice and easy issue that fits squarely in a box, there are societal and generational effects to decisions such as these and there is no "right" or "wrong" answer that everyone must believe or feel shameful about if they don't. -
No to Gay Marriage, Yes to breast implants

Exactly how is it "controversial" to be opposed to gay marriage when Obama, both Clintons and the majority of Americans oppose gay marriage? And now a beauty pageant contestant getting breast implants is somehow a controversy? Heated debate? Try stupid debate. -
Dick Jauron is a highly respected "man", not head coach. There's a big difference. I'm confident that the other AFC East head coaches hope Dick stays right where he is and for a long time for reasons which should be fairly obvious. Dick's teams continue to fail whenever they are faced with non-doormat teams. These are his coordinators, these are his antiquated offensive and defensive schemes and philosophies, these are his players. He's been here three years and this team shows no signs of turning things around with him at the helm and a ridiculous 1 winning season out of 8 head coaching record. I happen to think that he's one of the worst coaches, not men, in league history. He himself has said that this is a performance based league, yet somehow this never applies to Dick. The man is living a charmed life considering he stills holds the title of NFL head coach given his past failures. Last year not once did they beat a team in the AFC East, they lost to the lowly Browns and Niners at home. That's pathetic. Sorry, but I do not share your optimism and faith regarding Dick Jauron's abilities to get the job done. Either Dick has a winning season or he's going to be rightfully fired at the end of this year.

I wouldn't be surprised that if one of those big coaching names thinks the Bills are on the verge of a run that they might come here for a shade less than top dollar. However, this team's salary is so low that the Bills shouldn't skimp on the next head coach and should pay the new guy something in the range of 5 million a year. This hiring any old cheap coach, be it a newbie or retread, has cost us a decade of futility already and the Bills fans deserve nothing but a guy who has actually been there and done that. If none of them want the job, then they need to get a guy who's regarded as an up and coming coach who's virtually a can't miss. If they don't want it then I'll take anyone not named Dick Jauron.
-
Sorry, but you're overlooking one HUGE important factor...the head coach. He's the proverbial dragging anchor of the Bills team for this otherwise very promising group of young talented players. He could not even coach them a winning season with the easiest schedule in recent memory, and looking at this years schedule it's easy to see a 5 or 6 win season dead ahead mainly because of Dick Jauron. Young players, even talented ones, can't overcome bad coaching against the good teams. I see 2010 as the season when we return to the playoffs after hiring a REAL head coach.
-
Sorry but I have to give him a big fat F for motivating his players. You and I both saw how motivated they looked against the AFC East, and at home against the Browns and Niners. They looked pathetic in those games and much worse, acted like they could care less in the post game interviews and pressers.
-
I guess they could argue you that it was the players fault that Hank Bullough, Rich Kotite and Ray Handley were such losers. While they weren't the greatest coaches, they weren't actually the ones playing on the field.
-
Looks to be the case, thanks for linking that.
-
Thanks, but why wouldn't the Bills' official site have a piece like that? I find that a bit strange. She was a part of the Bills organization for a very long time.
-
I just went to the team's official site expecting to see an article about her and couldn't find one. Since she was a longtime scout for this team, the only women scout in the NFL, and the owners daughter, I wanted to hear about some of her talent finds and other Bills related stories throughout the years. I'm not angry or upset, just find it odd. Maybe it's too soon for that.

Nobody wanted Denney, Kelsay, Simpson

That's shocking. Next thing you know he'll be reporting that the sky is blue or something crazy like that. -
Now it all makes sense. The only "nice" guy I remember winning the Superbowl was Tony Dungy, and he happen to need one of the all time great QBs and a bad Bears team to even accomplish that. Unfortunately, I don't think Peyton Manning is coming here.
-
His being an outstanding human being says a lot more about his ability to coach than we here can understand or admit???? Sorry, but that statement makes absolutely NO SENSE. I dare you to explain that one to me.
-
So your Chicago "source" gushes over Jauron, no one here gives a f__king sh_t. Why should we care what some source has to say about Dick Jauron? I heard Wayne Fonts was a gem of a guy too. Bill Walsh gushed over Trent Edwards and how exactly has that resulted in Buffalo wins on Sunday? Does that make Edwards a great QB? Are you trying to say Jauron is a good coach or a great guy or both? Please tell us what the f are you talking about because as of now it's 5 pages long and still pointless.

Look, I think you're one of the more well respected members here, but I've got to call you out on this one. That reply was about as milk toast, vanilla and passionless of an answer that someone could ever come up with in regards to his or her feelings regarding Dick Jauron. You are seriously that apathetic towards Jauron's status as the head coach of the Bills? I assume you aren't this noncommittal in your criticisms here of the players during the season. If so, why do you give Dick a pass? Sorry, but as a Bills fan that non-committal answer irked me to no end. The guy has been here three years and the only thing you can say is that the players defend him and that you hope he does well? Did Dick suck the life blood out of you too? Other than hope, what are your true feelings about Dick Jauron as the head coach of your football team? Do you think he's good, bad or average? At least commit to that.

The NFL is considering a 3 day draft(Thu-Sat)
1billsfan replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Goodell is a jerk and an idiot for not given Belichick a suspension, pushing for the Superbowl to be played on foreign soil, pushing for additional regular season games being added onto the already lengthy 16 game season, and now screwing up the draft with that dumb and unnecessary 4:00 pm start and wanting it to become a ridiculous three day event. Does the NFL have to become money whores like ESPN and sap every nickel of profit they can get regardless of how it looks and plays with the fans and public? I can't stand Roger Goodell. He's the worst sports commissioner ever. -
Boy, I'll bet that Dick Jauron is so appreciative that his buddy The Big Cat started this thread.

Dick coaches like he's in the stone-aged times of the NFL pre-merger. While teams like the Dolphins and the Patriots are busy breaking NFL trends, circa 2009. These AFC East teams have the audacity to use their players abilities to their max potential effectiveness. Dick Jauron is simply stuck in another time period. The only way Dick could be an effective coach is if he had the Baltimore Ravens Superbowl team. I think it's safe to say we don't have that here. He's a nice guy and even I feel bad for laying into him at times, but his predictable vanilla offensive and defensive schemes, which opposing NFL teams routinely get the better of, literally sucks my enjoyment out of watching my team play football. It still makes me extremely angry that he was retained and amazingly gets to stick around yet another year. It would take a miracle for Dick to have a winning season ever again. Dick Jauron good guy, horrible head coach.

"The Guy", "The Man", "The Franchise Quarterback", the guy we were hoping was a big steal in the third round... ...and Dick Jauron could just force himself to not be involved in any gameplanning or gameday decision-making, giving Turk and Perry full support in coming up with truly unpredictable, creative and aggressive schemes... this team might actually have a chance. That being said...all I'm thinking is that, man are we going to be darn good in 2010 after Dick Jauron leaves and we get a real head coach in here!
-
No.

I like the #28 pick too! Now let's go get our TE, Cook or Ingram in the second!

I was a Maybin hater till I saw his combine video. The guy is freakishly quick and I think we'll be very happy after he's had a year to fill out his tall frame. I actually like it! Orakpo is the guy who will get eaten alive at the next level. Too short. I'd rather have the tall rangy guy who can make OTs block air.

Top Ten Comments Overheard in the Buffalo Bills War Room 10. "Smell that? That's right, that's the satisfactory smell of mediocrity men." 9. "Those poor AFC East divisional slobs have no idea of the mind blowing picks we are about to unleash upon them." 8. "Oh my God, If I have to listen to Ralph say we should have drafted Ngata instead of Whitner just one more time I will flush his teeth down the toilet!" 7. "Draft board...check! Scouting reports...check! Operational phone...check! College DBs Weekly...check!" 6. "He be shootin' up dat board like a mo fo." - just making sure you're paying attention 5. "Hey Dick!? What are you doing here buddy? We didn't fire you? Oh my God we do suck at this." 4. "Well I'm certainly not going out there to explain what the hell just happened." 3. "Everything's going to be just fine, I just got off the phone with Marv and he came up with a new fight song." 2. "Look Russ, picking players in the NFL draft is hard." 1. "Can you believe Vontae Davis fell to us?" Feel free to come up with your own.

After looking at his combine video I've changed my mind on Maybin. He actually looks extremely quick and rangy, and I could see NFL tackles having a hard time getting their hands on him. Those long arms and quick changes of direction will serve him well at the next level. I'd be happy with him, Ayers or Jackson. The guys I'm down on are the umpalumpas like Orakpo and Brown. I could see those guys being literally eaten up by NFL tackles. Remember, every one of these defensive ends has a huge question mark following them.
