Carucci: Bills / Cowher meeting was not substantive
1billsfan replied to ThreeBillsDrive's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Vic "Bills should keep Dick Jauron for continuity" Carucci is an overrated blowhard who's best days are way behind him. I used to respect his opinion and reporting but not since the Dick Jauron era. Every year on Sirius NFL Radio he'd always gave excuses for Dick Jauron's piss poor coaching and put the blame on the players. Always with the "Bills need continuity" montra. I would laugh at his analysis. Vic Carucci has no freaking clue what is going on. The news was out about Cowher and whoever he talked to during the game had to say something, so whoever it was downplayed it to placate him and protect the organization. -
Schefter & Mort say Bills and Cowher met this week
1billsfan replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just saw that report too. Here it is on twitter... http://twitter.com/Adam_Schefter "@mortreport just reported that Bill Cowher and the Bills had a "stealth" meeting last week." OMG, it just could happen. -
Because of the weather I'm not as ticked off

If that's the case, they just may end up cheering for Drew Willy again. -
Grimm looks every bit an ex-O lineman who's taken way too many hits in a ten year career in one of the most brutal divisions and conferences in NFL history. I seriously worry about how many marbles the guy has left. I'd pass on Grimm.

...by first laying down to the Jets and today's no mas game. I was mad because the Bills should be drafting with a 5-11 record. I see them slipping one spot in the draft with Chicago beating the Lions and the Ravens beating the Raiders (however the Raiders do have a legit shot at winning and keeping the Bills where they are in the 8th pick drafting slot). Even if they did beat the Jets, Manning and the other starters would not have played in these conditions. Of course Manning will start the first series to continue his starting streak, but after that it should be Buffalo's day today.

Bills press conference @2:30-Nix confirmed as new GM
1billsfan replied to zdro22's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We all know that our line sucks too. But Bills fans should be able to remember countless times in which Edwards had enough time and held the ball long enough to checkdown to the runningback. The guy simply does not have the gonads or arm to throw the ball into tight spaces down the field. The playoff QBs do have the arms and guts to throw those passes. Trent was always waiting for a guy to be wide open because he knows that his noodle arm couldn't hit the guys who were in tight coverage. I can't even believe that there are still fans who believe in Trent Edwards. I was laughing at his down the field lollipop passes even when he was winning games. -

Ding, we have a winner! The Bills need to find a QB...Brohm, Bradford, Clauson, Kolb. Running the ball well is secondary to the passing game in today's NFL. -

Dude, Trent Edwards is a horrible quarterback. He's not even good enough to be a backup in this league. Once the league figured out that the only throws he had were the checkdowns and dumpoffs, his NFL career was over. One final note, a noodle arm and Western NY weather just do not mix. -
Thanks to the Colts not playing their starters, the game will be a total sham. I made a comment in a post regarding who would be mad if we win, saying pretty much that a win against the Colts scrubs is hollow and bogus. Our team is going to get screwed out of another top player in next years draft because of this Sunday's "exhibition" game that we'll win and push us to the 10th slot. THAT'S what I am mad about. This is every bit a 5-11 team and we are going to get screwed again with a middle of the pack 6-10 record.

Am I the only one that will be mad if we win?
1billsfan replied to McBeane's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Am I the only one who thinks that a win against the Colts backup players is a hollow and bogus win to begin with? This Bills team SHOULD be slotted in the draft as a 5-11 team, but because of the Colts treating this like an exhibition game the Bills are going to quite possibly just miss out on a franchise player. This is what I am angry about. If they win on Sunday it will be a complete joke win. -
Never going to happen. Like Hasselback and Shaub, Kolb is ready to be a starting QB. So Kolb isn't going to sign a new contract with the Eagles, unless they cut ties with McNabb (which they clearly aren't going to do). If he isn't traded and given a new contract by his new team, Kolb will just wait until he turns a free agent and the Eagles will have nothing to show for it. Plus, the Eagles will not be offering Kolb a starting QB's contract even if he was willing to be a backup.
-
Kolb's contract runs out after next season. If McNabb is given an extension then it makes perfect sense to trade Kolb before he's gone. If they can add a solid starter at a position of need through a 2nd rd draft pick or a swap of firsts then why wouldn't you do it. They could then sign a decent #2 QB in the free agent market.
-
Actually the reporting is bad because they don't mention Kevin Kolb. He's a guy that the Bills should consider targeting for a trade. But the dopes over at ESPN can't see past a name like Michael Vick to observe an even better option on the Eagles roster.

I gave a passing glance at a few of the Colt message boards today and Bill Polian is getting absolutely skewered by the Colt fans. They are calling him every name in the book because of his granting Rex Ryan's Christmas wishes, handing the game to the Jets on a silver platter, upsetting the locker room and blowing a run at NFL history. That "white flag" decision by Polian may well have ruined their season. I think Colt fans would happily give him to us for a roll of tape right about now.

The guy has no experience in evaluating college talent. His personality is much too jovial also. Sorry, but this is a serious position which calls for long term experience and the Bills should not be going down the Matt Millen road of finding a GM.

Bills currently drafting at #8 spot... http://www.gbnreport.com/weeklydraftorder.html

I'm intrigued by Kolb also, but not at the cost of a #1 pick. Kolb is signed until the 2010 season so this is his last year under contract. If McNabb signs an extension then the Eagles have little leverage regarding the trade value of Kolb. The Bills should use the Matt Hasselback Green Bay to Seattle trade model. Offer to switch #1 picks with Philly (throw in a mid round pick if needed to close the deal). Other that the Bills should just tell them that this is their final offer and they would go in another direction if they weren't willing to accept the offer. I see no other team that would have a better deal than this for the Eagles' Kolb. They would almost have to pull the trigger given that they would get nothing in return for Kolb next year since he's a free agent in 2011.

Shanahan removes name from Bills consideration
1billsfan replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He did???? Do you have a link for that? I'm very surprised that a guy like Billick, who wants to come back into the league and who literally has no one knocking at his door, would say such a thing. If he did say that then I officially withdraw my lukewarm interest in him. If you don't have a link please provide the media outlet and circumstances of the comments by Billick. -
FAA throws a 5 million dollar party
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/brad-wilmouth...istmas-vacation "Imagine the outrage if any Republican President went on vacation during a recession and spent $4,000 a night on accommodations." "The ABC correspondent also recounted that the estate house overlooks a beach popular with royalty: "But it's the master bedroom and its breathtaking view that is the crown jewel. Kailua Beach has been ranked the island's best, a favorite of Hawaiian royalty." Any Democrat who can justify President Obama's disgustingly lavish vacation when there are millions of Americans currently out of work is an insanely hypocritical loony tune. -
I hate that word "continuity". Continuity was the reason Dick Jauron lasted as long as he did as the Bills head coach. The media gave Ralph cover for way too long of a time using that word "continuity" over and over again, when it was clear to the fans that Jauron was a clueless loser on par with a Rich Kotite. Why did the media do this? Because they were wimps who were more afraid of drawing fire by offending the nicest man in football, rather than do their jobs. It's about finding a new GM, head coach and QB to begin the major reconstruction process. Continuity is a word for losers who need to find an excuse to keep their jobs 2 years longer than they should.

He's a total fraud. He can't be all angry and upset at wall street salaries and insurance companies profits, vowing to set limits and restriction when the government that he actually does have control over is literally throwing our money down the drain. Sorry but there's no getting around it. Your buddy was about hope and change and a year later America has found out that he's the biggest phony in the history of this country. In Obama's world we prosecute Navy Seals who are defending our country, yet protect corrupt tax-evading politicians like Charlie Rangel. Try guessing where the buck stops?
