I agree, Bills franchise rescuing approach... Plan A: hire Shanahan (all the other big name ex-coaches who would be trusted with GM duties have opted out) Plan B: hire best GM prospect available
-
I wouldn't mind them looking at Casserly...but David Gettleman, who is the current Director of Pro Personnel for the NY Giants (who happen to be one of the top four scouting departments in the NFL) and who was recommended by the Accorsi, and who got his start with Polian and stayed with the Bills for the glory years, looks like a much better candidate than Casserly. It's not just about name recognition, it's about a logical Bills GM prospect that for some strange reason has not been discussed as far as I can tell. I want the Bills to be like the Giants, Steelers, Ravens and Patriots. Successful franchises that were built by the scouting departments, just like that once great franchise from Buffalo a couple of decades ago. Could Casserly do it? Sure, but I think this guy looks like a much better choice given the two of them.

Before I found Gettleman, I was thinking Casserly and then I came across this... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/294883-...harlie-casserly "So, though Casserly has made some good decisions as a GM in the NFL (2006 Texans draft class), he has also made some bone headed decisions that have hurt the teams he was running (Heath Shuler and Buchanon come to mind). The Browns do not need someone that is so hot and cold running their franchise. They need someone who is a proven winner that knows how to make changes and adjustments to a roster that has a long way to go before it can be competitive." Reading that soured me on Casserly.

Who's David Gettleman? He's the current Director of Pro Personnel for the NY Giants. He was man Ernie Accorsi recommended for the Browns GM position before they went ahead and hired someone from Baltimore... http://www.footballrumormill.com/tag/david-gettleman/ Why would he be such a good fit here? He got his start in the NFL when he was hired by Bill Polian and was employed with the Buffalo Bills from 1986-1992 (remember those years?)... http://www.giants.com/news/headlines/story...?story_id=27014 "At about the same time, he read an item in The Sporting News that said Polian was the new director of pro personnel for the Buffalo Bills. He wrote Polian a letter, asking for an internship. Polian invited him to Buffalo for an interview. At the same time, his hometown Patriots had internships available in both personnel and public relations. The personnel position was quickly filled and Gettleman interviewed for the public relations internship. But he was far more interested in personnel, so he pursued the Buffalo position. The Patriots' personnel internship went, ironically, to Sternfeld, who stayed with New England in a variety of capacities until joining the Giants in 2002. Gettleman enrolled at St. Thomas University in Miami, where he attended Dolphins games and sent information back to Polian. After earning his degree, Gettleman moved to Buffalo, where he spent the 1986 season scouting college games as an intern. "I was making $150 a week and I was married," Gettleman said. "Joanne had, for us, a pretty good job so we were making ends meet. They asked me to stay after the season ended and I was making $4 an hour. "After the draft Bill calls me in his office and he says, 'How would you like a job?' I said, 'Where do I sign up?' Then I asked, 'How much?' and he said, 'Eighteen thousand dollars and that's it.' I said, 'Well, let me talk to Joanne.' I went home and said, 'I have good news and I have bad news, the good news is they offered me a job, the bad news is it is for eighteen thousand.' The kicker is that Joanne was pregnant. So I went back and they gave me a company car so I took the job." Gettleman was the Bills' scout for the BLESTO scouting combine for most of his tenure in Buffalo, which ended in 1992. He then went to work for BLESTO but disliked having no team affiliation." So you have the recommendation of one of the best GMs in NFL history, you have the ties to the Bills glory years. It seems to me that this is the guy that the Bills should be targeting to right the ship. Who's the coach going to be? My guess is that he'd hire a guy like Jim Harbaugh. Tough as nails, knows the pro game, knows the QB position. I think that Harbaugh has a good chance to be the next Jeff Fisher or Bill Cowher. A former player turned head coach who has a real passion for winning. I think this approach might be even better than hiring Mike Shanahan who was a real dope when it came to hand picking players for his roster which turned out to blow up in the Bronco's faces more often than not. Remember Maurice Clarrett? Plus, do you really want someone that you have to bribe and is only coming here for the money? So there you have it. Hope someone from the Bills heeds my advice and takes a look at this guy for the Bills GM.

Good, I never wanted Holmgren for the Bills job.

Bleacher report??

This is the number that stood out to me... "The plan is opposed by 83% of Republicans and 70% of unaffiliated voters." It will be interesting to see how many democrats from moderate to conservative areas will be willing to fall on their swords for Obamacare. After Virginia and New Jersey, it should be clear to them that the choice is to either vote the way their constituents want or start looking for a new job.

I never liked Bush, the guy was a complete joke plain and simple. However at least you always felt like he was on our (America's) side. Obama is a flat out embarrassment as the President of the United States. He acts and governs like he's the leader of the entire world. America's security and interests take a back seat to what's in the best interests of the global nations. He needs constant attention and praise. He's infantile. He's an embarrassment. Just ask Japan. Seriously, how many trips and speaking functions has he gone on while the country is going through it's worst economy since the depression? The independents who stupidly bought into his bs were forewarned about him. After seeing the seismic shift of independents bolting from the democrats in the Virginia and New Jersey Governor races, it's clear that there is serious buyers remorse going on. Let's hope he does as little damage as possible before 2012.

Len P Throws the Wet Blanket on the Shanahan Rumors
1billsfan replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jim Haslett was fired because his Saints quit on him just like the Bills did on Jauron this year. Total disaster if Haslett becomes the head coach of the Bills. -
2003 called and said it wants it's PPP thread back.

Please Ralph, so NO to Jim Haslett!!
1billsfan replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Huh???? What idiot thinks Jim Haslett has a shot at becoming the next head coach of the Buffalo Bills? There's no chance of that happening especially how his Saints team quit on him just like the Bills quit on Jauron this year. Don't believe it, I have no doubts loser Haslett will not be coming to Buffalo to be a head coach. -
I don't see Ralph paying up the money for a Cowher or Dungy big name type especially since he'll be on the hook for the remainder of Jauron's contract. Nor do I see any big name type taking the Buffalo job with the current dire situation at QB. The only big name guy I see that would possibly come here at a bargain price is Marty Schottenhiemer. So working within a realist set of circumstances, I see the Bills finding a real GM (Casserly? Wolf?) and ending up with a rookie head coach like one of these guys... Leslie Frazier - Vikings (Dungy student) Russ Grimm - Cardinals (Cowher student) Mike Zimmer - Bengals (Parcells student) What Ralph should do is get Ernie Accorsi in here as a consultant for this overhaul process.

Holy ....YIPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never thought this day would ever come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now lets all hope the front office is next...

Hurt my feelings? It bothers me that Bills fans can be so thick as to mock a guy when their team is so painfully inept in the exact same department. Bills fans are supposed to be smarter than that. Please act like you know what the heck the score is and aren't completely clueless. Ok?
-
So if you don't agree with something being said on a message board you should just ignore it? Got it. Then by your logic, the same thing goes to replies you don't like.
-
Actually he was wrong. According to reddogblitz, Losman came back to play very well in the second half and lead his team to a win. So the point was clearly to laugh at a former Bill playing badly. But his team came back to win. Did you happen to see yesterday's Bills game? Yet you guys can still laugh at Losman? Who's the loser here.
-
If the OP did that then I wouldn't have had as much of a problem. Considering how painfully inept we are at scoring touchdowns, the ridiculousness of getting kicks out of trashing Losman needed to be called out.
-
Since it was completely lost on you, here you go... http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/people_who_l...;t_throw_stones Laughing at Losman's suckitude is moronic when you're a Bills fan who's team has a measly 10 touchdown passes. It makes a Bills fan look not only petty, but completely ridiculous. BTW, only a crackhead would think that the "Lostman" putdown is something funny and original. It's time to retire the hatred for the guy.
-
Whoa, time to back off the crystal meth buddy. I can understand why you're incapable of understanding the sheer stupidity of this thread.
-
If someone wants to look like a jackass by creating a thread mocking JP while the Bills QB situation has worsen then by all means have at it. I personally think that's like a guy who's living in a run down trailer, laughing at a guy living in a flea bag motel.

Someone Please Explain the Palin Hatred!
1billsfan replied to PearlHowardman's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Palin should thank Newsweek for this one. It's like a recruitment poster for the 18-29 year old MILF lovers vote. The funny thing is that they were no doubt trying to diminish her with this cover. -
Not the "standard" by any means, just pointing out the failures of the current guy.
-
Ever hear the term "people in glass houses..." you freaking moron? Considering who our starter is, threads about how much Losman sucks are stupid. Have I cleared things up for you jackass? Now go back to sniffing glue.
-
I seriously don't get these laugh at Losman posts. Edwards has been here three years has hasn't come close to the 19 touchdown passes Losman threw in ''06. Not saying JP is NFL starting material, but don't act like our team's QBs woes are way behind us. The sad truth of the matter is I'd rather have Losman starting today than Edwards or Fitzy. This is how far things have fallen. But go ahead and yuck it up boys.

Scenes from the Tucson Tea Party
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Americans are smelling the stench of bull**** coming from Washington. Obama has proven himself to be the biggest and best bull****er in chief, Pelosi is a train wreck and wet noodle Reid isn't much better. Americans have completely tuned out to what their politicians are saying. That's what happens when you make these grand speeches about "hope" and "change", only to govern by becoming the most partisan, most special interest favoring, biggest tax and spend party in charge this country has ever seen in history.
