There's a new sheriff in town. I think there's no way they're drafting Spiller.
-
I really have no prediction. I really don't know who I want in the first. Assuming that LTs like Okung and T. Williams are gone, the guys that I wouldn't freak out about are Morgan, Bulaga, Davis, McClain and even Tebow (if Gailey/Nix think that he's no doubt going to be the Bills' future franchise QB then they should not fool around and pull the trigger on Tebow at #9). I don't like Clausen for the reason that I just don't think he'll make a great leader of an NFL team at the next level. I don't think his arm is all that great either.

Male prostitute.

If they are going to reach on two players like that then they should just go ahead and draft Tim Tebow at #9. Seriously. Williams smells like a bust to me (it tends to happen to one year wonder college DTs with big first round contracts). Jerry Hughes looks to me like a smallish, 2nd round prospect. There will be LBs just as good if not better than him in the second or third.

For the record draft predictions
1billsfan replied to ....lybob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brandon Spikes is the classic "football speed" player. On the football field, his instincts more than make up the speed lost to the rookie LBs that ran faster than him but can't play a lick. He will be selected in the second round. Maybe even by the Buffalo Bills! -
Have a feeling the top 9 goes something like this...
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I read it and what I got is that Florio isn't seeing the forest through the trees. He assumes that the Rams really really want Bradford but their lack of outreach to his agent for a deal indicates to me that they don't really want him and are uncomfortable with drafting him at #1. -

This was posted by Florio three weeks ago. Come on now, don't you think that by now ESPN or NFL network would have done a story about Bradford not being willing to discuss a contract with the Rams? I think it's BS. -

Have not read that, do you have a link? -

My guess is that they'd pick either McCoy or Tebow with their second pick and then trade their fifth for Campbell as a one year stop gap. They know that in 2011 they will probably have their pick of the litter of QBs again. Suh is a Reggie White type of dominating player and I have a hard time believing that they'll pass on him for the risky QB pick in Sam Bradford. QBs are such a crap shoot and this guy ran the spread and almost never took snaps under center. If I were the Rams I'd pick Suh, he's a 99% can't miss guy. -
1. Rams - Suh 2. Browns - Bradford 3. Buccaneers - McCoy 4. Redskins - Okung 5. Eagles - Berry 6. Seahawks - T. Williams 7. Lions - Bulaga 8. Raiders - Clausen 9. Giants - McClain I get the distinct feeling that the Rams do not want Bradford. There's something very strange about them not trying to hash out a deal before the draft. I bet there's a lot of arguing going on with that first pick. My sense is that Spags gets his wish of Suh and the Rams attempt to go after either McCoy or Tebow with the top pick in the second round.
-
Sorry but that's a real crappy mock draft... Davis at 6? McClain at 7? Campbell at 8? Price to the Giants at 15? Dunlap to the Titans at 16? Trent Williams lasts to pick 18? Dan Williams lasts to pick 26?

It's a term based on predictions, not outcomes. Kind of like odds on a craps table. If Whitner was drafted in the second round (where I believe his value was a few weeks before the draft before his stock started to rise to the last first round), then it was because he wasn't rated as high (meaning: not as sure of a bet) as a guy drafted in the first round.
-
Reach is a term that only applies to a projected player's rating and where he was picked during any given draft. The higher the rated player, supposedly the better odds of that player being good or bad. The term has nothing to do with a player's career post draft. It's all conjecture as there are low round players that become good to great, just as there are high round players that are never any good. Reach pick and/or Value pick is all based on a predetermined player rating. Just like the draft itself, terms given out like Reach or Value are far from an exact science. I do buy into the term because of the Bills picking a reach player like Whitner, when Ngata was the obvious choice.
-
Donte Whitner. He was a major reach for the Bills when they should have drafted Ngata who's player rating was much higher and right around where they were picking.

We've been discussing Bulaga's falling draft status for over a week now. In his pre draft press conference, Nix made a comment about (hypothetically speaking) seeing only two OTs as top ten prospects. That if this were the case then they would go with another position. I think this was to soften any Bulaga fan outrage if the Bills pass on him at #9. I've got to believe that Bulaga only gets picked later in round 1 by the Bills if there were a trade down scenario.

What are your surprise draft predictions?
1billsfan replied to Phlegm Alley's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here are my four surprises... Browns trade up to #1 to take Bradford, Rams pick Clausen at #7. Eagles (who have a ton of picks/ammo) trade up to Seahawks' #5 to pick Berry. Ravens trade Gaither to Raiders' for the #8 spot and pick either D. Williams or Haden. Raiders also get the Ravens' 1st round pick. Bills get back into first round ahead of the Vikings to select Tebow. I think this is going to be a trade crazy first round. -
Buyer Beware: The 10 riskiest 2010 draft picks
1billsfan replied to Joaquin1119's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that Bradford's frailty is more of a "risk factor" than Clausen's question marks. The only reason Bradford's going #1 is because he has a much higher ceiling than Clausen does as an NFL QB prospect. Yes, Clausen should be on the risky list, but so to should Bradford and his reconstructed arm. With Clausen at least you know he's tough enough to physically weather an NFL beating. -
I think the Vikings will pick Tebow if he's there so they would have to move ahead of them.
-
In his pre draft press conference Nix talked about having nine players ready to be their pick when their turn came in the first round. That you can't be surprised when a guy you wanted was off the board. He also said that a top ten pick had better be a guy that can step in and play right away. Well here's my guess at what the Bills' draft board looks like... 1. Bradford 2. Suh 3. McCoy 4. Okung 5. Clausen 6. Williams 7. Morgan 8. McClain 9. Spiller As for Dez Bryant, Nix's talk about it being a deep draft at WR leads me to believe that he isn't on their board in the first. Although it would have been beneficial to talk up Bryant as an option so as to get a team to draft ahead and bump another player they wanted back towards the #9 pick. So baring any trades, and looking at the current mock drafts going around, it looks to me that the Bills will select Clausen, Morgan, or McClain in the first.
-
I don't even think that Bulaga is currently on Kiper's top 25 big board. Can anyone with ESPN Insider confirm this? The Bills are not going to select Bulaga. I think after Okung and Williams are both gone, the Bills will either draft a pass rusher or look to move back in the round.
-
I think he goes between #28 and #30. I think that the Vikings (#30) will definitely select Tebow if given the chance. So if there's a team that wants him badly enough, they will jump one or two picks ahead of the Vikings to make sure they don't lose out on him. The teams that I could see trading up would be Cleveland, Buffalo, Denver, Carolina and maybe even San Francisco. One dark horse team that could shock people is Philly. They have a ton of picks and if they are unsuccessful at moving up for a safety I wouldn't be surprised if he's their pick at #24. They will look at it as an investment pick that could pay off for them on the field or through a boat load of draft picks in a few years. They would get ripped but it may actually be a pretty good strategy. I mean they do have a ton of picks this year. They can afford a crazy out there pick at #24.

3rd Annual Reddy Freddy Draft Contest
1billsfan replied to Reddy Freddy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So far there have been 13 different players mentioned as round 1 selections. I don't ever remember there being such a wide margin of players being discussed as possibilities. Draft day is going to be one bumpy ride. Here goes mine...Davis, Tebow, McCluster -
If New England offered a 2nd for Lynch?
1billsfan replied to clearwater cadet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that Lynch is one of the trade baits that will be used to move up into the late first round to select either Tebow, McCoy or Cody. I wouldn't trade him to New England for their second. -
What I don't get is that, to my knowledge, the Bills have not even mentioned or sent out "leaks" of their possible desire for Dez Bryant. Wouldn't you as a GM, do that if you had no intention or desire of picking him? Having Bryant selected ahead of Buffalo by some team (who's fearful of losing him to Buffalo) trading up in front of them pushes another high value player back to #9. The Bills have a big need at WR and I have not heard one thing in all of the predraft stuff that I've read that has him as a possibility. If the Bills don't want him then they should be talking him up this week, right? Since they haven't been talking about him...hmmmm.
