Want to know what could be the real truth? American's who oppose same-sex marriage do not want the institution turned into a joke, eventually defined as any relationship under the sun, ultimately becoming a relic and nonexistent, nonpracticed institution. You can't have same-sex marriage legal and it not eventually lead to letting polygamy become legal. Saying you can is being very nieve. Hollywood has already been setting the stage for this next fight. A 2006 NRO article on the subject… http://old.nationalreview.com/kurtz/kurtz.asp Polygamous marriages are now recognized in the Netherlands which was the first country to legalize same-sex marriage. These are incremental changes which many American's have an deep seeded instinctual sense in wondering what comes next. They fear that the far left's goal is to destroy the moral fabric of society. Is it? I have no idea. I'm just throwing this out there as a reason why many American's are opposed to same-sex marriages. Right now, I favor keeping these decisions at the state level. Keeping it at the state level will help prevent the "devolution" of an institution many American's feel is the bedrock that keeps society itself intact. It's a tough issue either way and there are valid arguments on both sides. Demonizing people and their religious beliefs are not the way to go on this.

How do those on the Right explain this?

That's the biggest lie that uninformed democrats and independents continue to believe.,, http://www.amazon.com/Reckless-Endangerment-Outsized-Corruption-Armageddon/dp/0805091203/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1336649015&sr=1-1 "Morgenson and Rosner draw back the curtain on Fannie Mae, the mortgage-finance giant that grew, with the support of the Clinton administration, through the 1990s, becoming a major opponent of government oversight even as it was benefiting from public subsidies. They expose the role played not only by Fannie Mae executives but also by enablers at Countrywide Financial, Goldman Sachs, the Federal Reserve, HUD, Congress, the FDIC, and the biggest players on Wall Street, to show how greed, aggression, and fear led countless officials to ignore warning signs of an imminent disaster." -

Seeing is bill-ieving - reality check
1billsfan replied to SouthernMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Definitely not any in the AFC. This conference is ripe for the Bills to make a push for not only the playoffs but the Superbowl. I won't go through the reasons why for each team, but I see the AFC as being the weakest it's been since the Bills glory days. Side comment: they need to do their due diligence and at least bring TO in for a look see. Fitz and TO had a great connection going and it wouldn't hurt to have a transitional player at the #2 spot at the beginning of the year. I get the sense he doesn't care about the spotlight anymore. -
Understood, that's why I didn't highlight the "austerity" remarks. Just having a little fun by making a jab. Though France electing that guy does remind me a lot of California electing Jerry Brown.

BILLS @ JETS Early Predictions
1billsfan replied to Frostbelt City's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The 24/7 Tebow coverage in training camp and preseason will severely wear on a Jets team who's starting QB happens to be named Mark Sanchez. It will be Tebow time ALL of the time. Tebow, Tebow, Tebow, Tebow, Tebow, Tebow, Tebow, Tebow, Tebow, Tebow, Tebow, Tebow...and one more thing, Tebow! This will be of great benefit to an "on the rise" Bills team with the singular focus of getting off to a good start by winning the game. This game will have a ton of national buildup and other than the midweek kickoff game, will beat all ratings. -

Would you trade Fitz for ....
1billsfan replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fitzpatrick was tearing it up until after the Washington game in which he broke his ribs. That plus the injuries to key personnel leaves me with the impression that there's still hope he can still be our version of a little less accurate Drew Brees or Eli Manning type of QB. The classic late bloomer. I was hoping the Bills could trade up for RGIII, but since that didn't happen I see no reason to want any other team's starting QB for the Bills. This includes older HOF guys like Tom Brady, Peyton Manning. They aren't Bills. I wouldn't want them as Bills. We tried that with Drew Bledsoe and you see now that he has no allegiance with this team. It's as if he has wiped it from his memory bank. I don't care that he feels that way, I'm just pointing it out as a real reason not to want another team's established QB. The only QBs that I'd like over Fitz are Newton, Luck or RGIII. That's it. Since that isn't happening, I'm excited to watch Fitzpatrick try to prove that the first part of 2011 was no fluke and that he has what it takes to lead this team to a Superbowl win. -

I think that 10-15 percent of democrats are flat out lying to the pollsters. They have an irrational fear of branding themselves as racists if they admit to someone that that they have no intention of voting for Obama in the voting booth. A portion of people lie in surveys because they fear embarrassment and I think it's happening in these polls. I have nothing to back this up, it's just the reason why I think the polls are so close given the abysmal economic conditions of this country. Everyone with a brain knows that he's a far left ideologist who's policies are severely hurting the middle class of this country. This includes moderate democrats. -

"Landslide" as in the electoral vote. Obama will win maybe one or two supposed "toss up" states, Romney will win the rest including the big ones. The stench of the economy will be the reason for the "landslide" victory. -

A 2012 Obama supporter is the very definition of someone who is delusional. It's going to be a landslide victory for Romney. We're taking our country back. The lazy bum Obama supporters can move to Cuba if they don't want to work. -

SO glad Shanahan said no to Ralph...

We as Bills fans know all too well what happens to teams that have two potential star starting QBs. The Jets and the Redskins just dialed themselves up the classic Flutie/Johnson drama for the 2012 season. Ryan and Shanahan must have some real personality issues to go out and ask for what's about to come down on them. It's like when a parent tells a child not to touch the stove because it'll burn them and they do it anyway. The Jets are toast. We all know the movie, we saw it and thankfully it won't end well for the Jets. It will be so much fun to watch the destruction from the outside this time. As for Shanahan, he seriously "blanked" over RGIII by adding serious rookie competition for the star rookie QB in the form of Kirk Cousins. If I'm RGIII I would no longer trust my head coach ever again with that move. Ryan and Shanahan need to get their heads examined. -
RD 3, Pick #69: WR TJ Graham - NC State
1billsfan replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he's Don Beebe, it's a "fail" grade as a pick. The Bills drafted TJ Graham to be a great #2 receiver opposite Stevie Johnson. The only reason we're all have the great "was TJ Graham worth a 3rd" debate is because Glenn was there at #41. If Glenn wasn't there then they would have drafted Hill. I think fans are way overreacting to the pick. It was only a 3rd and we should have a little faith that Nix knows what he's doing considering the upswell of real optimism surrounding the team. -
from BIG REDZONE TARGET to SMALL DEEP THREAT
1billsfan replied to loserlovers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that Nix felt comfortable enough with what he's done so far with this roster, that he could take a flyer on a WR with a big upside. He was given the choice between picking Glenn or Hill in the second, choose Glenn and clearly had Graham as the last WR with the speed and passible measurables to fill the role opposite Stevie. If Graham doesn't pan out, he doesn't pan out. Gambling on a third round pick is not the end of the world. I'm excited about the Graham pick, especially given the fact we addressed so many areas of need with high quality prospects. -
Maybe it's just me, but I'd add Terrell Owens to the roster. This playoff calibre (yeah I said it) team needs to fill that hole opposite Stevie. Perfect transitional veteran to get us to Easley, Jones or Graham as our full time #2.
-
Because he heard of Kellen Moore!...LOL I think Corp will be given a real shot at making this roster considering the severe lack of QB talent after Fitzpatrick. He has the size, decent arm and the footwork looks pretty good. The footwork helped Tom Brady make the big leap from long shot 7th rounder to star NFL QB so here's hoping the Bills have maybe found themselves a hidden QB gem. You never know about QBs. It's the one position that's the hardest to figure out who can make it and who can't. Just look at what Fitzpatrick's done as a former 7th rounder. One thing for sure is that Moore's physical limitations are just too much to overcome. He seems like a great kid, but he's way too small to play with NFL giants. Maybe as a backup for a game or two, but he will never be a full time starting QB.

So What are the Weakest Links, post-draft
1billsfan replied to Geno Smith's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills should bring back TO as the transitional #2 WR for Easley and/or Graham. He and Fitzpatrick had a great connection going before he left Buffalo and his "diva" days look to be long over. This team is ready for a real run and TO is my choice for the #2 guy to at least start the season in that spot... http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/eye-on-football/18431803/terrell-owens-on-nfl-return-definitely-that-is-the-plan “As far as health, I'm fine. I'm just looking for an opportunity." Owens said. "The Indoor League is quicker…it's faster than the outdoor game. It has enhanced my route running ability. If anything, I've benefited from, and noticed how quick coming in and out of my breaks I've become.” Former Buccaneers linebacker Derrick Brooks, who now serves as the president and general manager of the AFL's Tampa Bay Storm, has scouted Owens and came away impressed. “I see humility and I see hunger. A lot of guys would not step back and play indoor football to prove to teams that they can still play," he said. "The hunger is still there. You can see it when he plays.” Bring him back Buddy! -
The Bengals drafted a DB who by all accounts had to be baby sat to be kept out of trouble, a guard who's neither athletic or strong, and a lazy DT. This is what you're pining away for? Really? Seriously?

Bills defensive changes since 2010...WOW
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's been so long since we've had a defense, I seriously have forgotten what it's like. Not only does it look like we have a defense, but it looks like it's been modeled following the Giants' blueprint!
