  1. Yes I feel crazy for saying this but, I'm a little intrigued by Tebow becoming a Bill. First, the Bills franchise is in a weird "one year left for Nix/Gailey" situation, also... http://www.pro-football-reference.com/play-index/comeback.cgi?player=TeboTi00 Let's face it. This franchise is in limbo until there's new ownership. Nix and Gailey have one year left to do something special and I think they will do this by either signing Vick or Tebow and hope for some serious playoff magic to happen. I see Nix's plan as probably picking the best defensive player in rd 1and picking a "QB of the future" type in rd 2 who will not see the field in 2013. Nix may select a rd 1 QB, but I think he'll have in place either Vick or Tebow as "Plan A" for 2013. What Tebow does seems to be instinctual which may not translate well in practice situations. Gailey is a coach who could come up with a successful plan using the spread option with Tebow, Spiller, SJ, Nelson (former Gator), and Graham. As I said before, this team is in limbo right now and I would not be that upset if they tried to think of an out of the box way to find their franchise (unconventional of course) QB. 2013 is an "all in" "playoffs or bust" situation for Nix/Gailey and the they have very few conventional options open to them.
  2. Why do I get the feeling that Michael Vick will probably be on his way here very soon? If Nix and Chan do stay, then it stands to reason they will be going "all in" for the playoffs in 2013 with the obvious solution of pairing Vick with Gailey's spread system. Add to the mix a 2nd rd QB to quell the fans desire for a young guy of the future, I think this is what "continuity" means going forward.
  3. The Bills might do well to have the continuity for 2013, take their medicine of a two to three win season, and thus be in prime position to draft a true franchise QB in the 2014 draft. Hopefully that will be a great QB draft. Maybe draft for defense and depth this coming draft. I know it sucks to think of it this way, but it may be the best way to go if they want a decade long run at a championship like the Colts and Skins will have. That 2013 schedule doesn't look so promising without a real franchise QB anyways.
  4. I think Jay Gruden is the perfect coach to go after. He's ready to be an NFL head coach, I think he'll be one of the best in the league when he does get his shot, and lastly I think the Bills would have a decent shot at landing him.
  5. There's nothing "quick" about it. We've waiting through the Fitzpatrick years and it turns out he is not the answer. You don't deny this? Do you? So it's clear to everyone the Bills must to get a new QB for 2013. That's the desperation part. But you know what? The Saints were desperate for Drew Brees and how did that plan turn out? Washington was desperate for a QB and how did giving a ton of picks for RGIII turn out? Accept that your team is desperate. Embrace it in fact. Because the Bills are at the point where they must do something desperate. You may find that unsettling, but I find it exciting. Somebody will be coming here as the "next great franchise QB" hope. That's cool to me.
  6. Trading our first for Cousins would not be an idiotic move. This team must roll the dice on a "QB of the future" and he's looking like the best bet IMO. If he doesn't pan out then at least they tried. What would be idiotic is putting a busted up "Vick" band-aid on the problem.
  7. That, and also it seemed the majority of the players clearly no longer cared about the 2012 season. Obviously this does not include Spiller or SJ, but there were a lot of players who weren't putting out much effort at all. It happens. They see other team mates doing it and it spreads. This film should be the first one to look at when the GM is determining who stays and who goes.
  8. If Cousins looks good today then count me on board with the Bills giving away their 2013 first round pick for him. Yeah I said it. For the "Two words - Rob Johnson" crowd, I don't care. The Bills should have giving away what they needed to, to get RGIII last year. They didn't even try, they were too afraid to do so. So giving away ONE first round (#10 overall probably) pick on a solid rookie QB who has an outside shot at being a franchise guy is nothing to me. If Cousins turns out horrible it was worth the shot because this year's QB crop sucks really bad and I would rather the Bills use it on Cousins than one of the jokers in this year's draft.
  9. I was listening to a Philly sports station last night and someone mentioned Mark Richt (head coach at Georgia) as being a possible candidate for the Eagles job. Now granted the ending of that SEC Championship game was brutal, but he seems like he'd be a very good candidate for the Buffalo Bills HC job. We all know Nix loves him some SEC, so it'd be a good match there. The guy's younger, obviously talented as a head coach and has a lot of fire.
  10. I've always been a Perry Fewell supporter. I wanted him hired as HC the last go 'round. If not him, then possibly Jay Gruden? Gailey has proven he needs to be replaced as HC. If no one wants the job, I'd begrudgingly even consider Brian Billick...lol
  11. Andy Reid lost his mind by having Vick averaging about 38 passing attempts a game this season. I think it's obvious the Bills will be looking for a playoff experienced, seasoned QB like Vick who has a real NFL arm. If they limit his passing attempts then he may be a viable option for a couple of years if Gailey would run the darn ball 40 times a game.
  12. 2012 Buffalo Bills: 16th in points scored and 4th in points scored against. Do you see the trouble here? The piling on Ryan Fitzpatrick has gone waaaay overboard. The putrid defense and Gailey's inexplicable refusal to use Spiller a lot were the main cause for our poor record. Fitzpatrick is never going to be Jim Kelley, but he's not as bad as you guys have been carrying on about. He's literally a middle-of-the-pack quality level of starting NFL QB. No one is saying he's great, but having three consecutive season's of 20 plus TDs blows away many notions here that he is only a backup level QB. The numbers simply don't support that argument.
  13. Exactly. We ALL know that the Bills are going to bring someone in here through FA, or a trade or by the draft this coming offseason. That is, unless Fitzpatrick looks unreal in these last four games.
  14. I'm getting more than a little tired of the constant Fitzpatrick bashing here. 12 games have been played. The Bills are 16th in points scored and 4th in points scored against.
  15. People are obsessed with Fitzpatrick's effect on this team as if he alone is the reason the Bills have a bad record. No one mentions the defense's effect on our record. The first half of the year the defense gave up a crazy amount of yards and points. I don't ever remember a Bills defense being as bad as this one was earlier in the year. But it's somehow all Fitzpatrick's fault...LOL I think he's right square-in-the-middle average. For me, he deserves a final evaluation after these last four games and seeing him playing with a much improved defense.
  16. What people don't realize is that having the Bills wait to take a QB around pick 15-20 is actually a good thing. There's a huge difference using a top five pick on a QB and using one many selections lower. The risk factor decreases greatly if a mid first round is a swing and a miss. Not so with a top five QB pick. http://profootballta...t-overall-pick/ "even though the Chiefs, Jaguars, Raiders and Eagles all might consider drafting a quarterback — this year’s draft doesn’t appear to have a quarterback worthy of the first overall pick. The two quarterbacks most often mentioned as the best prospects for 2013, West Virginia’s Geno Smith and USC’s Matt Barkley, both saw their stock decline with inconsistent play down the stretch this season."
  17. Are you going to watch the Rams/Bills game?
  18. The NFL is a weird and wacky league. A team can go on a winning streak at any time. Our schedule says to me that beating the Rams, Seahawks, Dolphins and Jets is a doable proposition. Maybe it's 20-25%, but at least it's something to still hold on to. They still might not make the wildcard, but I'm hoping they do it anyways so we can have a positive outlook for the 2013 season.
  19. Stop with that, as silly as it sounds, why not enjoy the potential of a miracle "run" to a wildcard playoff birth and root for the Chargers to beat the Bengals and the Ravens to beat the Steelers. The QB class this year is horrid and the offseason is long enough as it is. If the Bills continue to play like they did today they will be hard to beat.
  20. Then maybe his observational skills are wrong? Is that better?...LOL Fitzpatrick is an average QB. While that's not saying much in today's NFL, it's worlds away from the diaper wearing Edwards and Losman. Is average what any of us want these last five games and next year? No. Unless Fitzpatrick takes this team on a roll into the playoffs this year, I'm fully on board with taking a QB in rd 1 of the next draft, and every draft going forward till they finally find their franchise QB who can get the Bills a Superbowl win.
  21. Just stating the facts that Trent and JP were not NFL material and Fitzpatrick is NFL material. I really don't see how you got a ringing endorsement of Fitzpatrick from what I said. The Bills will beat the Jaguars and probably get on a roll from there. I think Fitzpatrick and the Bills can go on a five game winning streak and make the playoffs for the first time in forever. That doesn't mean that I think they will do it. Fitzpatrick MUST do something extraordinary like that to sell the team and the fans that the Bills don't have to draft a QB in round 1. That's not a ringing endorsement, just laying out what the deal is for him.
  22. Sorry, but you're very wrong. Fitzpatrick is a different breed altogether than both of those jokers. Those two guys were scared to play football in the NFL. They were both deer in headlights. Fitz is a bonafide starting caliber NFL quarterback. Right now at this very moment, he's 9th in TD passes. What you're seeing is a man who wishes his coach hadn't given him 33 passing attempts to Spiller's 14 rushes. Especially when said rusher got 107 yards in those limited number of carries. We all know Fitzpatrick is never going to be elite, and time is definitely running out on him showing he is the QB who will be good enough to get this team a Superbowl win. What Fitzpatrick has to do is close very strong these last five games. If he looks good and has the Bills going on a 4-1 or 5-0 stretch then I think we here may have a whole different outlook on the QB situation. I actually believe the Bills could still make the playoffs given the state of the AFC wildcard and their schedule.
  23. The Bills could very well end up running the table, have a 9-7 record with a possible (dare I say) wildcard playoff birth. Look at the AFC and look at the remaining schedule. If they give the ball to Spiller and their defense plays well then they should win all of the remaining games. NFL teams can get on a roll and this one is no different. I know people think this is crazy, but we do have very talented players here that can do something like this. So of course GM Buddy Nix sees this possible scenario and he would be an idiot to jump the gun on the Gailey, Fitzpatrick and the rest of the team...LOL If he did hint at changes then that would be a reason he should be fired!
  24. If this is all true, then he will in no way last until pick 42 and beyond (Bills probable 2nd round slot). The Bills would have to "reach" and burn a #1 pick on him and if he does have the talent you suggest, at this point I'd be completely ok with it. I think that burning picks on QBs in the 1st isn't as costly as it was in the old days, when the contracts for rookie 1st rd QBs were outrageous. I think the Bills should pick a QB in rd 1 of this class and if they have doubts after a year in their system, then do it again in 2014. The Bills, Jets and Dolphins haven't been anything since Kelly, Namath and Marino left their respective buildings. Finding a QB is #1 priority and if they have to crack a few high pick eggs to do it then so be it.
  25. He has 9 interceptions in 328 passing attempts. How's that too many interceptions? Also, he's played in 12 games this season. How's that being often injured? The Bills MUST draft a QB who at least has the building blocks (arm, size, mobility) and potential to be an NFL franchise QB. They will be picking in no man's land and any QB still there at around pick 10 will be a "roll of the dice". Who cares if he's rated a second rounder, just do it.
