  1. NES for me as well. Got it for Christmas when I was 7, way back in 1991.
  2. It's not even just about the speed. See a red light ahead? Take your foot off the gas and coast to a stop. At a red light? Don't gun it, just gradually increase your speed. Just avoiding the "jackrabbit" starts, which save 15 seconds on an average trip, can increase your gas mileage by 10-15%. I've sort of made a game of it... I'm only a few miles from work so I'm mostly driving around town. I used to have to fill up roughly every week and half to two weeks. Now I have to fill up every three weeks. That adds up during the year.
  3. Driving slower helps. Did a roundtrip to Portland from the Seattle area yesterday. Insetad of driving the limit (70), I kept it at 60 the whole way and drove conservatively. Got 38.6 MPG in my Honda Accord (filled up at the same pump, let it go to the click). On highway trips like that I usually get around 32. Nice bump for getting there just a few minutes later.
  4. Choices out in the NW are actually pretty few. Fred Meyer is owned by Kroger. Probably the best of the bunch. Safeway is expensive and has average selection. QFC is owned by Kroger and more expensive than Fred Meyer, with less of a selection. There are a few Top stores (not to be confused with Tops) and Albertson's. People avoid these like the plague if they can. I've been out here for two years and still haven't gone to the Trader Joe's out on 156th in Bellevue. I guess I should go.
  5. mmm... Every time I've gone down Stevens Pass heading east on US 2, there's been a state patrol cop clocking people on the way down. I guess the People's Republic of the Puget Sound needs additional funds to continue its socialist browbeating.
  6. We had better be trading up to get a TE.
  7. This pick is taking awhile...
  8. PLEASE draft a TE... PLEASE
  9. Going to the browns.
  10. I'm fine with the CB in the first round now that we actually have a receiver with size...
  11. I'm not one of the draft gurus but I 100% agree. There are very few competent offenses in the NFL that lack a decent pass-catching TE, and that is something we haven't had here since Jay Riemersma. It just might open up play sequences other than run-run-pass-punt.
  12. Correct. He was going to do it before Christmas until the whole illegals and driver license issue blew up in his face. He abandoned the issue as an early Christmas gift.
  13. http://wcbstv.com/technology/ny.internet.tax.2.707820.html So let's see... NYSers pay income tax, sales tax, gas taxes, use tax on interstate commerce purchases over the internet, property taxes, and now sales tax on previously exempt purchases. And in each of those categories, they come close to leading the nation. WA might have high taxes overall but at least we don't have an income tax. Saves me thousands each year. And NYS wonders why they keep losing congressional seats in reapportionment...

  15. Wow, who pissed in your cornflakes this morning? I dunno, I think their chances this year are slightly better than last. They lost practically no one, and they've got a ton of young players gaining experience. Take it one step at a time... I think it is realistic to see this team in serious contention for a playoff spot in 2008. Winning a playoff game is a different story, but rather than say the next 10 years are a waste of time, let's just see what happens.
  16. Putting a Bass Pro in Buffalo isn't going to solve anything. All it does is bring low-paying service jobs to a town that already has a lot of those. Until Buffalo gets a major employer with high-paying jobs (high tech, pharmaceuticals, etc)... nothing is going to change. Graduates of upstate universities won't be staying in Buffalo because there's now a Bass Pro shop.
  17. Yeah, I'm having issues here as well... stuck with Comcast. EDIT: Looks like access is back.
  18. It's a start. There's a reason why I keep the $13 basic cable package - HNIC coverage is vastly superior to any national feed here in the US.
  19. WE GET THE FRIGGIN PATS AFTER THEIR BYE AGAIN!!!! BAH!!!!!
  20. The way the NHL does TV during the first two rounds is similar to what MLB does with Wednesday night baseball. If you're in the local market, you have to view the game on your RSN (except NBC games). Otherwise, you get the national broadcast on Versus. As an example, do a search for the Campbell hit during the Philly series on YouTube and you'll find a couple that use the MSG feed, and most use the Versus feed.
  21. 22. Through furniture sowing seeds race restless seed
  23. Wow. This is one of those things that gets funnier after you watch it a couple times. Canada Day? PM Mulroney? Awesome.
