  1. Using the franchise tag on TO? Let's not get ahead of ourselves, but geez... what's the likelihood that he wouldn't complain about that?
  2. I'm sorry to hear that your friend will be out of a job, but I stand behind my previous statement. Their political bias makes the NYT look non-partisan. I could cite numerous examples of this over the years, but since this isn't PPP, I'll leave it at that.
  3. Actually Crayonz, I do have a question. Can the NFL institute a rule that in odd-numbered years, the Earth spins counter-clockwise, and in even-numbered years, the earth spins clockwise? That way, all teams get a chance every other year to get first crack? I'm sure the Googlebot has a device that would be capable of changing the Earth's rotation. This would also have the side effect of our time occuring before the Russians, which would allow us to bomb them before they could respond, since they'd be 10 hours behind us.
  4. The P-I is a piece of trash. They've been in the back pocket of Ron Sims for ages. OTOH, The Seattle Times is a solid paper and while I don't always agree with them, they lack the clear liberal slant that the P-I has. I would be sad to see them go. I can't speak for the sports reporting of either of the two dailies here because I just don't care about Seattle sports.
  5. I just got FiOS internet installed on Thursday. Let me echo this advice - dump the supplied router (in my case I got a Westell) and get a Buffalo or Linksys and flash it with dd-wrt. Verizon's internet service is simply second to none. Last year I actually switched from Comcast to slower Verizon DSL, because Comcast is so subpar in my area. Verizon's only achilles heel is billing. I'd love to jump on the TV bandwagon as well, but DirecTV does offer three distinct advantages to me - Sunday Ticket, east coast locals (I "moved"), and the Buffalo feed of MSG in HD. I could live without the east coast locals if they somehow acquired the other two.
  6. $40 for a T-shirt?!? http://www.buffalobillsproshop.com/main_de...ro%20Navy%20Tee Do they take us for fools?
  7. Does anyone even watch ESPN anymore other than for live sporting events?
  8. That is very true . Though I would say it's iPhones that are more prevalent that the notebooks.
  9. It's funny this topic came up because I just sat through a presentation from one of our VPs on our OEM/ODM partners within the last month. I'm limited in what I can say since much of the info was proprietary but what I can say is that if you walk around our corporate campus (it's largely public, btw) you'll find more people carrying a Lenovo or Sony than any other laptop brand. Dell is great for certain things, for example their monitors are excellent. But take a guess on who the repair tech I spoke with said was their most called-about manufacturer for repairs of desktops and laptops?
  10. I work for a very large O/S and office productivity software company. Let me put it this way. When I am in the market for a PC, I look to Lenovo. My warranty turnaround time from them is 4 business days TOTAL, from me getting on the phone with them to me getting the box back with my laptop in it. From what I gather Sony is also a very good partner, though their stuff is expensive. I do not buy from Dell. I won't go further than that, but that's basically all you need to know.
  11. Well watch for Mr. Boston to be getting a CC assignment this week... likely in the NFC game with Walt Anderson.
  12. The back judge was not Freeman, it was Bob Lawing #17. He is the back judge on McAulay's crew this year. Freeman was an alternate, having served on Jeff Triplette's crew this year.
  13. Yep, it's utterly ridiculous. I just pray that my flight tomorrow gets off for JFK so that I can avoid the hippies.
  14. This is easily the worst event in terms of snow since I moved out here in 2006 - we've had at least one every year. WNYers take pride in their snowy winters, but at least NYSDOT and local towns/cities plows the roads for you. Here in the PNW, they don't. Instead, they just let it sit there until the sun or rain melts it (which ain't happening soon... our temps are colder than Buffalo right now). Add to that equation lots of hilly terrain and hurricane-force wind gusts and you have a recipe for disaster. Like this bus that almost fell onto I-5 in Downtown Seattle: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/loca...924_bus20m.html. Or this bus that got stuck on SR 520, a couple miles from my place: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/ABPub/200.../2008535869.jpg Here in Redmond we got 11" on Thursday and about another 2" tonight. Unless you have chains, you can't go anywhere. Luckily, my old ones fit my new car, and I've been able to get out and about. Yeah - you need chains, it's that bad.
  15. Will wear #79. Yawn.
  16. I still maintain that our greatest need is TE. The franchise should get a restraining order against Robert Royal.
  17. Given the number of NY transplants that live in that state, it's surprising to me. I visited FL for the first time earlier this year and the dialect of a good chunk of the "natives" made it sound like I was in NYC.
  18. Word, XL, and PPT are usually pretty good about auto-saving files. What version of Word? 12 tends to be better at this than 11 (2003) or 10 (XP). Did you search through hidden files/folders and also search for files that include the ~ in the name? Temporary objects created by Office (from tables in Access to temporary bits in Word) are saved with tildes. The auto-recover location is by default at C:\Users\[userName]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\ on Vista (this is a hidden folder). You should be able to check the location in Word Options. Is this a work machine or one joined to a domain? It's possible that there's group policy set on the machine preventing the creation of backup files, though that's kind of doubtful.
  19. Hmm, I feel stingy now. I don't feel bad tipping 15% when a $2 "delivery fee" is tacked on. There are few decent local pizzerias out here (none of which deliver to my place) so I'm stuck with the chains.
  20. But he went to Jared!
  21. I still long for Wegmans subs. If the definition of "sandwich" is wider though, I'd probably give the honor to a Lupo's chicken spiedie.
  22. I'm sticking by my 7-9 prediction from here. We beat one of SF or MIA. We lose to one of SF or MIA, plus NYJ, DEN, and NE. I haven't been sold on this team yet.
  23. Did anyone else notice that Schonert was in the press box today? I wonder if he was better equipped to make in-game adjustments up there. Jauron gets credit for going for it on 4th and goal at the 1 on our first (was it our first?) drive. That's a marked departure from what I would have expected him to do. If he keeps doing that I won't blame him if we don't come away with points. Trent was a completely different quarterback. I don't know if it was the play action passing, Josh Reed, or the side of the bed he got up on, but he somehow turned it back on. Everyone has bad stretches. If he can play consistently across the next 3-4 games I think we can call what we saw a slump and move on. Otherwise, Bills Nation has serious reasons to be worried.
  24. It's a possibility but I don't think it's the likely outcome. Likely losses: @NYJ @DEN NE 50/50: MIA in Toronto @KC SF I have as little confidence as anyone of this team's ability to pull it together and win, but unless they completely bottom out I don't see a 5-11 future. I think 7-9 is a lot more likely.
