  1. fitzpatrick. i'm praying to the football gods that his crappy play the 2nd half of the season was truly due to injuries and not lack of abilities.
  2. here's a legit reason for the OP. The reigning super bowl champs had their best CB go down in pre-season. their rookie 1st round CB was hurt early on and barely made an impact last year. did it matter? hardly. because their pass rush is so damn good, that it can make average DBs look incredible. I'm cool with the group of Williams, Florence, McGee, McLovin, Rogers. it's not an awful unit by any stretch. not to mention the fact that our starting safeties are a top 3 pair. our WR's are worse IMO. Fitz has that shiny new contract. give him another weapon.
  3. yea, that's just false. he's got a ridiculous amount of natural ability.
  4. cool story. note the words in bold. if anything, they say just as much about floyd's character as the boozing incidents. kid was on the ropes, and made the necessary life adjustments to get his crap together and have a great year.
  5. i'd sacrifice a 3rd to lock up kalil. in a !@#$ing heartbeat.
  6. hope so. just increases the odds someone good will drop to us.
  7. not sure if you're trying to be a dick, or if it just comes natural. here's a link to Hill's 49 career catches. took me 2 seconds to find. http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/_/id/483021/stephen-hill and here's a link to floyd's 4.42 combine time. took me 4 seconds to find. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-combine/09000d5d82736c7b/Michael-Floyd-40-yard-dash
  8. i think this is why teams !@#$ up drafts IMO - this logic right here. Floyd was dominant for 4 years, while Hill has 49 career catches. Yet because you've deemed Floyd as someone who "can't get separation", you'd rather take a player who hasn't really show much at all and is a huge gamble. Not to go at you man, but I obviously couldn't disagree more. Floyd ran in the low 4.4s. His 3700 receiving yards and 37 TDs show his separation is okay.
  9. disagree. it's been beaten to death already, but the mario signing did a ton for our organization in regards to maintaining credibility within the league. it's already a win.
  10. yup. and before someone comes in and says "hindsight is 20/20 blah blah blah", these moves were as obvious as the dareus pick this year. we just tried to outsmart everyone.
  11. whitner over ngata was unspeakable. i just stared blankly at the tv for the next hour. funny how the two most obvious rage-inducing picks on draft day have ending up proving the fanbase correct. ngata has gone on to become one of the NFL's elite, and orakpo has close to 30 sacks in 3 years. if only..
  12. don't blame him for Charles Rogers. That guy should have been a stud.
  13. weird thread. why is everyone available at #10? 1st choice: Luck in our world: Floyd or Kuechly
  14. agree with the OP. Floyd would change the entire dynamic of our offense.
  15. Wilson is excellent. Top 5 for sure. Was playing like top 1 before he got hurt.
  16. Dareus and Aaron Williams are starters for sure - so that's 2. 95% chance Sheppard starts unless we draft the BC LB and he kills it in camp - so that's 3. And Hairston is in line to start as well. Where are you getting "1 starter" from? I don't know why people make such a fuzz about the Merriman signing. It was/is a low risk/high reward move, and so far it hasn't worked out. It's nothing like a low 2nd round pick. And who's Wilson? George Wilson? Ralph Wilson? because they've both been here a while.
  17. Troup over Gronk was awful, but only revisionist history says Gronk would be the player he is now. I'm pretty sure he failed a bunch of physicals given by other teams. But yea, i'm still pissed about that too. Why are you leaving out the 2011 draft in your assessment? The first 4 picks might all be starters as sophomores. that's !@#$ing good. Your point about Jauron's last draft sucks. He took Maybin. That in itself is unforgivable. Last edit: Whitner was a f-up, big time. Our DT starters in 2005 were Tim Anderson, Justin Bannan, and Sam Adams. How we didn't take Ngata is beyond me.
  18. why take Fletcher Cox to "anchor the DT for years to come"? did you sleep through last year?
  19. i'm not at all sure what your point is. that jauron was better in the draft than nix because more guys started last year? jauron had 4 drafts with the bills, while as of opening day last year, nix had one group of sophomores and one group on rookies. how is that a fair point? not to mention - jauron had two colossal f'ups - whitner over ngata and maybin over orakpo. sure, the 2010 class wasn't very good. however, the 1st 4 picks from last year are all potential starters. and i'd be okay with having spiller as our starting RB - we just have the luxury of having freddy.
  20. i agree with the dissenters, but only a little. this quote from earlier in the thread.. ..unfortunately is true. under nix, not so much - but over the past 10 years, if we had any knowledgeable fan drafting, we'd probably have 3-4 more starters, 2 or 3 of which could have been all-pros (Ngata comes to mind specifically). it sucks that we had so many busts with OBVIOUS studs staring us in the face, and you can't blame some fans for still being a little hesitant to trust the organization 100%. it's almost a slap in the face when you have guys like ngata and orakpo RIGHT THERE and you take little dipsh!ts like Whitner and Maybin instead. it's insulting. however, the 2011 looks spectacular and i trust Nix all the way. hope he knocks this one out of the park.
