  1. Perhaps to stop many of Euron's ships from arriving from Essos? Also, thinking ahead to the show's end point, Yara is the only ruler of the Iron Islands that makes sense.
  2. My consideration was if he stayed behind to get his moment with his brother. He has always been practical, and not prone to take on a suicide mission, but the show seems to be increasingly ham handedly queuing up the resolution points we have been anticipating. As an aside, this feels like regression from a well-thought-out web of circumstance and motivation (Martin), to typical high-budget pop culture entertainment. I loved the moment between Brienne and the Hound, talking about Arya. Did I imagine him grinning like a proud pappa? Re Bronn: Cersei's deception doesn't work if the Lannister forces don't act like they are joining the Great War. Bronn will be intermixed with the combined armies when (if) Cersei brings the Golden Company to attack their rear. I have no doubt how Bronn would react, but I think there is also no way any of that happens before Jaimie gets to him... unless of course he is eaten by a large pack of wolves mid-continent. Again bitching about expedience, why on earth would Cersei tell Jaimie her plan and let him ride away? Is Jaimie, and her love of family her fatal weakness? I strongly suspect the books will be completely different at this point and moving forward. And restating a guess I made up-thread: I think Daario shows up next season with the Essos sell-swords.
  3. Doc Brown, I agree, much better than last week. I think Tyrion argued if Cersei cooperated, her child would be allowed to live. It is the only believable way she would support them. We often have not heard the end of Tyrion's conversations, just seen the results. In this case, we are left to fill in the blanks between Tyrion's look saying Cersei being pregnant changes everything, and him not being surprised she is having the Lannister forces join them. Doc, why would he be conflicted? I doubt he told Cersei her child might be heir because Dany is infertile. (If so, count that as her betrayal for love.) And yet I agree. I am not sure what his look meant outside their cabin door. I agree Harrington and Clark seem to lack some of the range of the other actors, though their chemistry is passable on the show. For John, bring uncomplicated is a part of his appeal. Where do you think the Hound ended up? He hasn't pledged himself to anyone that we have seen, and we didn't see the group return to the Targaryen ship. Tormund is still alive. I rewatched, and it's clear the ice dragon melted the wall from where he started, to the left, toward the sea. He and Dondarrion made it to the first bit of wall that remained, and had a perfect view of the dead passing through the void.
  4. Wow! I was impressed before I read that. http://www.tvguide.com/news/game-thrones-maisie-williams-1033874/ "I'm right-handed, and when Mom was reading the first book, she told me about Arya being left-handed," she says. "From then on, I was like, 'Alright, I'm going to try to do everything left-handed.' When I was practicing out in the garden and things I would do left-handed just to feel that rhythm. Unfortunately, when it came to filming, sometimes I have to do things right-handed because of the camera angle and things like that. So some people are a bit annoyed that Arya hasn't done everything left-handed. I wanted to. I really did. But sometimes it was just too tricky and we couldn't do it."
  5. The Arya / Brienne training session scene was my favorite of the series so far. It was very well choreographed and executed, and did a great job carrying everyone's emotions through the scene as the technical aspects played out. (It sure looked like Maisie Williams was performing all of the moves and having a great time!) Crazy thought part one So, do we know any sell swords in Essos? Oh wait. . . what if Daario Naharis can't resist, and comes to Westeros with the others mercenaries as a long shot to win Daenerys back? Crazy thought part two Assuming the above, Daario would of course try to kill Cersie if he got the chance. I could image "Second Son" being translated in prophecy to "Valonquar" (little brother in Valyrian). I assume no one a has bet on Daario being the one to kill Cersei.
  6. Thank you so much. It was great how you help all of us "be there!"

  8. I am thrilled with the draft so far. In general I'd be concerned to see the Bills draft positions of need (or fitting a specific scheme) at the top of a draft, but this year the specific picks have proven talent. If we get significant talent that also matches our needs, all the better.
  9. The reports are that he barricaded the door from within to slow any guards from getting to him. As far as the timing goes, the Pats are visiting the White House today, but really, sometimes people have just had enough; the timing does not have to make sense. I do not suspect foul play.
  10. Thanks for the transcription, 26CB! How depressing is it that I saw this tread title and immediately thought 4-12 was a reference to the Bills' record?
  11. Game of Thrones The Wire The Sopranos M*A*S*H* Battlestar Galactica - the original (just kidding) Honorable mentions: Cheers Fringe Taxi Maybe top 5 if they had fulfilled their mythology/arc: Lost, Firefly, X-Files The Americans Downton Abbey Doesn't qualify as a show really, but it is close, and certainly is high enough quality to warrant an honorable mention: The Night Manager
  12. * The Godfather * Star Wars (A New Hope) * Alien * The Thin Red Line * The Sound of Music - I don't usually think of this movie as one of my favorites, but I have no problem defending it as one of the best. And I have watched it several times. ...I guess it is a favorite! I go back and forth in my mind about this. Ultimately I give a bonus to an original (initial) story. It has a higher burden to establish a world. I know that is heady for something as subjective as a favorite. I have a built-in almost nostalgic feeling for the original Godfather, Star Wars, Alien etc. that give them a boost in my ratings.
  13. You can't count on late round picks, but you'd expect a few to come through. Our track record has not been good the last decade. We certainly could use some help this year! I would love to see Dez Lewis or Listenbee step up. If not, what is Namaan Roosevelt up to? On a parallel track, do you think Marcus Easley will get picked anywhere? He was one of our top special teams players, a very talented gunner on kick coverages.
  14. Wow, big news!
  15. Richie Incognito = Heroic icing on it -or- Hi Erotic Coining -I thought there might be something there about a thin corgi, but not quite.... Sean McDermott = Command Street -or- Transected Mom -or- Rated Comments -or- Mr. Totem Dances - I think there are a ton more hiding in there Shane Conlan = Leash Cannon Steve Tasker = Sea Trek Vest
  16. So totally random memory here: Do you guys remember a game (3 years ago?) where the opposing team tried to block Kyle with a fullback? Kyle destroyed the FB and blew up the play for something like a 3-4 yard loss. On the broadcast they showed it at least a couple times and the announcers were incredulous that was really the plan. I replayed it a dozen time, as well as other plays from Kyle that came; he was on fire. My memory sucks, so that's all I have. When healthy, Kyle is a monster, often looking like a man amongst boys. He is my favorite Bill right now and I hope he returns, if his body can take it. I would love to see him up on the wall of fame some day.
  17. Yes! Please start a new thread though; don't bury the X and O talk here with the gossip and general griping. I'd be interested in a general take on McDermott's Ds with our personnel and how that might impact our FA decisions (i.e. let Gilmore walk). Also, I am curious how well it might work, or how it might adjust without a stellar MLB.
  18. Note you must be a resident of New York to win. I know many (most?) of the people who post here live elsewhere.
  19. Good luck with your championship games!
  20. > Late night / early morning tweets telling smack-talking opposing players they are losers > Every time Brady takes the field, chants of "lock him up!" rise from the stands > When asked about the team, the answer invariably wanders back to his hotels and bad trade deals
  21. Yes, I would pick up Miami's defense. Don't worry about Matt Moore filling in for Tannehill!
  22. QB: I would start Carr playing in beautiful 63 degree San Diego, with low/no wind, over Ben in a 20 degree Cincinnati with a chance of precip. BRoth has only thrown for 300 yards on the road once this year, week 1 when he threw exactly 300 against Washington. TE = Graham D = Texans - - I tried and failed to land them on the waiver this week. I think the Bills and Seahawks are the only better defenses this week. WR/Flex: I like Cooper, Hilton, Watkins, in that order. I would watch the weather in Buffalo though. 20 mph winds have me worried about Watkins. I have very little faith in Tyrod throwing downfield in wind. M Thomas has been solid, but I am a bit concerned about his foot, and Patrick Peterson. Do you think Peterson lines up against Cooks or Thomas? If Cooks, Thomas could be a really good play. The Arizona secondary is banged up, so that is a factor as well.
  23. Thanks. Gore is my hardest choice. I have gone with him all year and he has rewarded me. He is the best #3 RB I ever remember having on my FF team. And yet, MIN really has been tough on RBs. I might need to look at the injuries on each team to see if that points one way or another. M Thomas is my best WR, but i need to see he is really healthy before I give him a spot. Also, how do I find out if Peterson will be on him all day? That is likely a deal-breaker with my other options.
  24. I would appreciate your help thinking through who to start in the playoff. (Yes you, if you are reading this.) My league is .5 PPR My locks QB: Matt Ryan RB: David Johnson, LeSean McCoy TE: Kelce K:Gostkowski I need two WRs and a WR/RB Flex Frank Gore - @MIN Sammy Watkins - vs. CLE - I thnik he is one of the stronger plays, but am worried about having too much riding on the Bills after such a flat game last week. Steve Smith - vs. PHI Michael Thomas - Very likely returning from a foot injury to play @ARI. Will they put Patrick Peterson on Thomas? Dontrelle Inman - vs. OAK Brandon Marshall - vs. Miami Gilislee Defense - pick one Miami @ Jets Broncos @ NE
