You obviously underestimate the ferocity of Sir Purr. Little children are terrified of him... http://www.panthers.com/Fanzone/Default.aspx?id=1552 Terrifying...

I'd vote for Sir Purr...

Not anymore. The gubmint will bail you out if you spend irresponsibly. Damn, I wish I was less financially responsible! -
Exactly. I'll believe it when I see it...

Are we winning the War in Iraq?
TheMadCap replied to SD Jarhead's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
In case we were still discussing the topic of the thread, I saw on some crappy news show today that roadside bombing deaths in Iraq are down 90% since this time last year. FWIW... -
The longer it goes, the more I am convinced this album will NEVER see the light of day. He's been !@#$ing around with this album for what, 12 years now?

I just bought one. Spend what you can afford, not what any BS diamond industry "rule" says you should spend. THere are lots of family owned places out there that will treat you right. Remember, most of those places get customers through word of mouth, so ripping you off is not in thier long-term best interest. In my search, I met MANY pushy salesmen, until I finally found someone who I felt was genuine and honest. Another word of advice: DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Do some research and learn about the four "c's" and what they mean to prices and appearance. Don't go for the biggest caret size and sacrifice the cut or you will have a big ring that looks like sh--. You should also take into account the finger size of the lady for which the ring is intended. My wife's hands are very, very tiny, so getting a 2caret ring would look gaudy and Fred Flinstone ridiculous. Sacrifice the size and get a high quality cut. I also do not put great stock in the clarity value. Most people are not going to bust out a 10x glass to look at the flaws in a ring. If you stay at VVS included, then you should save $$$ and cannot really tell between that and a flawless stone. My wife is highly allergic to metals, so we had to bite the bullet for platinum band, which was expensive, but worth it. It was unique and pretty, and kept it simple. She LOVED it, so that's what counts. Get it added to your homeowner's insurance policy immediately after purchase. If you do some footwork you can get something you will love at a fair price. Good luck... -

Other than what MrInfo has, I am not sure there is ANYTHING in Richmond to be had, if you wanted to come here. I have a MS in Chemistry and it took me 8 months to find a job here in VA. If I remember correctly, didn't you just graduate not too long ago? Or was that someone else?

Yes, I admit I am a bit torn, one one hand I hate getting ass-raped at the pump. OTOH, until fuel prices get ridiculously high, no one will change thier behavior. It will be a step-wise process, like everything. Remember back in the day when recycling was just getting started? No one ever thought willfull recycling of aluminum, plastic and paper would become the norm, but now just about everyone recycles stuff. I believe it will be the same for this situation too. For now, what we can do is try and maximize the amount of alternative sources of energy to meet non-transportation related demand. My personal theory is that oil prices cannot stay as high as they are right now, and will stabilize relatively soon (~1 year) to the previously unheard of price of ~75 bucks a barrel. Gas prices will be high, but stable, especially as we bring out national resources to bear.

Ever seen the movie se7en? He should get the SLOTH treatment... -
Bastard! I've always wanted to go see one, and looks like I'm not going to get to do it now that the baby is coming. Everyone here knows what a space nut I am, and it sucks I won't get to see it happen live. I live too far away and the chances of them launching on schedule if I happen to go is slight...

The Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author Unknown -
NFL Sunday Ticket / Directv / Hi Def?
TheMadCap replied to DPR4444's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely true. It is extrememly difficult to get anything out of them these days. I have been a suscriber for four years, and it was like pulling teeth to get the HD-DVR discounted, I ended up paying $39.99 for it. In fact, they were going to let me cancel my Sunday Ticket before giving me any more. But when they were having trouble actually sending the HD signal to my dish, they wouldn't even budge on removeing that paltry <$40 fee, and allowed me to cancel my NHL Center Ice package. Good luck getting Super Fan for free, it's going to be hard... -
Thanks for trying Jack. I was able to get three tickets for me, my sister and brother in the lower section, about the ten yard line. The cost was about the same for three tickets as it would have been for four, but what can you do? It's not like my family was going to pay me back anyways! LOL! So I will be there, unless there is a problem with my wife, as in, she goes into labor or has difficulties that require me to be at home. At the very least, if there is no tailgate I will still park at Hammer's Lot, so maybe we'll see you guys there! Sid, you need to "buy" me a shot of Crown to celebrate the new Bills fan!

Ok, I admit I'm a little slow, but WHY are we only at ~85% when we were close to 95% in the mid 1990's? Can anyone explain in english for the slow types like me...

Well, I wouldn't go THAT far, dude, but certainly folks round here are being a bit more "understanding" regarding Lyncy's situation than if this were Lawrence Maroney we were talking about...
