I don't know how many of you are actual scientists and have studied environmental systems. And while I do not claim to be an expert, I have studied these things before, under the tutelage of actual experts, so allow me to put my two cents onto the roller coaster: 1. On whether the Earth is actually warming - The real answer is we don’t know yet. The Earth goes through cycles where we get a bit hotter then cooler. So we really don’t know yet, and we won’t know for a while. Fact is, our records don’t go back far enough (or are accurate enough) to be sure at present. 2. Carbon Dioxide, water vapor, etc, will indeed absorb in the infrared (think HEAT), so putting more of it into the atmosphere cannot be a good thing. Problem is, in the last fifty years there has been an exponential increase in their addition to the atmosphere, and I cannot stress enough to you how brief a timeframe that is to base any conclusions on. We just haven’t been looking at their effect long enough yet. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to limit their production and introduction to the environment. But as someone (I think AD) pointed out, limiting our (the USA) CO2 output does some good, but it does nothing to prevent China and India from more than making up the difference for us. 3. Not ALL scientists are convinced that humans are the driving force behind any type of global warming. Contrary to popular belief, people who study these things for a living (the ones I know) are taking a very cautious approach in determining how much of a factor humans really are. 4. The fear of what melting arctic ice, whether from GW or not, means for the environment is quite possibly as bad as advertised. While not everyone agrees fully on this aspect of climate change either, effects of melting ice on thermohaline circulation can catastrophic. CAN be, not WILL be, or IS. Anyone who cares to discuss this aspect with me can do so if they wish. To summarize, climatology and the factors influencing it are incredibility complex and are not fully understood. Some data suggesting that a possible increase in global mean temperature can have very serious and damaging effects on our planets, and certainly OUR, health has been discussed, as some posters have illustrated. But I want everyone to realize that we do not have all the answers yet. We don’t and are not likely to know for sure for some time. What we need to be doing is to be carefully studying the situation, and doing everything we can to limit our possible contribution to the overall input of greenhouse gases, without imposing stifling economic sanctions.

Christ man, 150W????? There's no way on God's Green Earth you will need anything near that. Any gig you play is going to be miked through the PA anyways. I have a 100W Fender twin Combo that has never even bee past 4 in any gig I've ever played because you can hear it down the block on 3. Save your money and buy less power, it's overkill and you don't need to go to "11" to rock it out. Chances are, you will never use it anyways...

I was fired from my very first job out of school. Not for any real issues, it just came down to the asshat new boss wanting to bring his own staff in after he was hired. Out with those loyal to the old boss, ya dig? Anyways, all three of us middle management got canned in one day. I had a job the next day, but I felt bad for one of the other girls. She was single and just bought a nice big house like a month before. I don't even think she made a payment before getting canned. I think I hated the guy more for that than anything else...

What distresses me most is that the Sabres never win games 1-0 or 2-0. It seems they always have to score 4 or 5 goals to win. That's just not gonna get it done. I don't know if it's defensemen not playing up to par, the injuries or just Miller not concentrating the entire game. Does anyone have stats on the Sabres goals allowed this year? They can't have given less than three goals that often...

The movie was, in my estimation, maybe about 70% accurate. Of course, there were many instances of artistic licence, or Hollywooding it up for the general audience, but for the most part it was entertaining. My biggest gripe is that there was absolutely no mention of the naval component to the battle. A large part of the reason the Spartans were able to hold out as long as they did was that the Greek Navy was able to hold back the Persion fleet. In actuality, it was Xerxes who killed the beast as a rite of passage into manhood, and it was a lion, not a wolf...

What's the deal with Miller anyways? He will make the most incredible saves I have ever seen on one play, and give up a cheeze goal two minutes later. It seems like he loses concentration at times. It's almost like the Sabres need to score at least four goals to win a game...

Since I have been so critical about this show often enough, I must say this episode was pretty good. Isn't heading 305 what Ben told Michael would get him away from the island? Did no one else catch this? Patchy claimed he was at a "listening station" in Vladivostok prior to Dharma. Is that where they monitoring station seen in the season two finale was? Weren't those two guys speaking Russian?
