If Frazier returns, how much will your enthusism die?
Buffalo_Stampede replied to The Red King's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not firing a guy doesn’t mean coaches are absolved. I’m not confident replacing Frazier is the key to stopping Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow. For one, those guys are hard to stop. It’ll take more than just a good scheme to beat them. -
At least we have something that can improve the pass rush immediately in Von Miller. We know the injury and age aren’t ideal but this is the position Brandon Beane has put us in. We also have young players that can improve. OL must be the priority this offseason. Trust me there is accountability. You just don’t fire coaches for being out coached by the Chiefs and Bengals in the playoffs. It will eventually catch up and cost jobs but when you’re 1-2 games away from the Super Bowl every year you don’t make drastic changes to the coaching staff.

A theory about Allen and (some) red zone turnovers

Let’s focus. How have teams beat Mahomes and Burrow in the playoffs? It’s not from blitzing. It’s front 4 pressure. Got to have it. All these general statements about the defense are pointless. How do you beat possible future GOATs at QB? You need sharks on the DL that taste blood. -
Title sums it up. I don’t care about anything else. The OL nearly ended the career of Josh Allen in 2022. Edmunds and Poyer? Don’t care. Protect Josh Allen over everything else. Leslie Frazier and the coaches? Don’t care. Our QB takes too many hits. Fix it.

He’s angry. But I do think we have to look at the DL investments over the Beane/McDermott/Frazier era and ask ourselves are we getting value? A lot of draft picks and cap space. Someone has to be responsible for that. It’s not good enough to beat top offenses when it matters most. It’s great vs everyone else. -
I think the exact opposite. You make your future cap projections and ask yourself is it better to save cap this year vs future years? Spreading out Von’s base salary over a few more seasons just makes sense because the cap is projected to rise considerably over the next few seasons. Yes, the Bills are likely to have dead cap but you’d only be adding a small amount of dead cap to the future. Take that cap savings now, when you really need it. You can save about $11 million this year while losing about $2.5 million a year for 4-5 seasons. It’s a no brainer. That $2.5 million can be easily dealt with in the future. And who knows, maybe Von plays until he’s 40 like he says he wants to.

Gregory Rousseau is becoming elite

We have no choice but to do this. -
Favorite season of the Allen era?
Buffalo_Stampede replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
2023 and 2024 are hard to choose between because he was Super Bowl MVP in both. I’m going with his first Super Bowl season. -

He had trouble adjusting to being the guy. He did have an ankle injury though. -
Jessie Pegula reveals more about Kim

Yeah she basically says it. -
They’re getting 2-3 starters every draft on a championship caliber team. Not many top level players. A lot of average to below average starters. They find players that fit into the system. We do need some top level players eventually.

It’s gotten insane. We have lost to the Chiefs and Bengals the last 3 years. No one else. 13 seconds is the type of coaching blunder that will carry over year after year. So criticism is fair. We have to be realistic though.
-
The Bills were so much better when they didn’t make the playoffs. It’s amazing they win so much with all the bad coaching and bad drafting. I want the drought Bills back when they actually knew what they were doing.
-
They figured out redzone. They remembered about Knox. They were back to being a top redzone offense. Basically the same talking points as the last 2 offseasons for me. DL needs to be more stout. They were with Jones healthy. Need another like Jones. DL needs more finishers in the pass rush. Von never got to show it in the playoffs. He’s all we got and he’s old and injured. DBs need more man talent. We need DBs that can matchup physically and put pressure on WRs. WRs need speed and players that can make a play for Josh besides Diggs. OL needs better interior OL play. Brown is a problem but talented. Coach him up.

Poyer wasn’t healthy. White isn’t near himself. I don’t think it’s a talented defense. I think we have a defense that plays a system good. Ask them to win man vs man and they can’t do it. That’s even when fully healthy. You need players that can win matchups in the playoffs. Obviously. Name me one defensive player under McDermott that you were always confident they’d win their matchups? Tre White before injury? Maybe. Poyer, Hyde, and White are all zone players. They play well in the system, at least when healthy. We can’t ask a single DB on this roster to man cover. Maybe Elam, but that’s a lot to ask of a rookie. Now let’s talk DL? Who is winning on the DL? Who do you trust to make a play? Who has actually made plays in the playoffs? The one thing I can criticize coaches over is developing defensive linemen. It’s just not happening. It’s hard for me to believe that Beane missed on all those DL. -
I mean we won’t get that but we need to hit on a rookie contract WR that can develop into a top 2 WR. I don’t think we can expect a late 1 or 2 round WR to impact much next year. We might have to sign a WR with talent that has upside. Someone in the $8-10 million range who has upside as a WR2 this upcoming season. A DJ Chark possibly. Make the 1st year cap hit low.

What does that tell you? Miami B team OL also. The defensive line was terrible in the playoffs. You’re blaming Leslie Frazier for that? -

The defense they put on the field vs Cincinnati is by far the worst defensive talent they’ve put on the field in all of McDermott’s seasons. How can we expect Frazier to be better when the players were worse? It doesn’t make any sense. Injuries played a role in the lack of talent vs Cincinnati but your energy needs to be pointed at Brandon Beane, not Leslie Frazier. -

I think it’s amazing how much we’re criticizing Frazier for the playoff performances when we all know that was the least talented defense the Bills have put on the field in the playoffs. -

It’s funny there is an essay here on how bad the Bills are at adjusting during halftime. They were the number 1 3rd quarter scoring offense in the NFL. Imagine firing an offensive coordinator and telling him the offense isn’t good enough coming out of halftime when they’re literally the best offense in the NFL coming out of halftime. I don’t think fans on this board know what to be upset about, they’re just upset. The problem with sports is only one team wins the championship. So the majority of coaches and players lose in the playoffs. If you go to the playoffs every season you’re going to lose a lot in the playoffs. Probably be closer to a .500 team in the playoffs.
