I understand but I don’t understand. We lost in the playoffs. I mean even if we win a Super Bowl we’re going to hopefully go to the playoffs a lot more times. Losing in the playoffs will happen.
The problem I see with Diggs is age. He’s got a solid 1-2 years left in his prime and then the decline happens. So do you get out in front of it or wait?
I think the Bills are forced to wait because they have nothing else. This is not a good draft or free agency for WRs. They’d have to look to trade for someone else.
I also think there’s issues with the cap if we traded him. We’d lose cap space. It’s not happening.
It was kind of like last year with Motor. Started slow then realized he’s better than the other guys. This year Cook started coming on so he lost some touches.
Knox was an issue earlier but they finally found him in the offense.
The problem on offense is the lack of talent pretty much. Not a lot to work with. Not many high draft picks. A bunch of mid round guys surrounding Allen.
I have been thinking about a Diggs trade, similar to what the Chiefs did.
I just don’t know how we would replace Diggs. Chiefs have Kelce. I don’t think it’s possible. I don’t even think it would work cap wise. I think we’d take on cap to trade him. It’s not going to happen.
Under Dorsey? They didn’t really give their rookies much playing time. None of them looked overwhelmed when they did get time, so that says something. I think the overall opinion on this draft class was we wanted more playing time.
Good teams typically don’t have roster space to add from practice squads. Bills released Hodgins for that exact reason.
We’ve lost a lot of draft picks over the last few years due to trying to get them on the practice squad.
We forget the musical chairs on the OL last year. Bates started a few games to end the season and translated that into a nice starting OG contract last offseason. The offense stalled out at times under Daboll as well. I still think Allens worst game since 2019 was home to Atlanta in 2021.
Add in Allen’s injury in 2022 and I think the offense was better. Analytically they were better. DVOA 10th ranked offense in 2021, 2nd ranked in 2022. Says a little bit.
To be fair Hodgins had injuries. This would’ve been his first real opportunity to play. Brandon Beane lost the roster game. Same thing with Wyatt Teller. Lost the roster game. He decided to trade Teller because they were going to cut him.
