  1. If Detroit is as desperate for a CB as this guy says, I'd almost prefer to see us trade back and pick up some extra picks. There are a lot of front 7 D players with first round grades, and we need more than one.
  2. I always forget about Travis...lol
  3. c'mere, buddy....hug it out
  4. He may be the most proficient penetrator since Willis left.
  5. Wow, what an article...thanks for posting that, Beerball
  6. I'm not putting all the emphasis on wins. My assessment of Mallett is based primarly on his tendency to choke in pressure situations and his level of football retardation.
  7. Exactly. I don't care who your MLB is/are, if you don't have big bodies on the line tying up blockers and keeping them off the LBs, you won't be able to stop the opponents running game.
  8. He did make an effort to sign him...cowart and/or his agent never got it worked out. There were better sources than this, but this is what I found on short notice while at work: http://www.billsdaily.com/news/archives/2001/week10.html
  9. Well said, Promo...that's exactly how I feel. I am a meat eater and I enjoy every minute of it. But I do not believe in making animals suffer unneccesarily. I will not eat veal for this very reason. I feel animals should be slaughtered humanely. I learned a while back that this is also one of the tenets of kosher preparation, so I tend to look for meats that are kosher because of that. This doesn't really apply to chickens, though...I don't care what happens to those things (j/k )
  10. Oh yeah, I don't like a player who has the "dropsies" any more than I do one who has "fumble-itis" lol. I'm just sick of sloppy football in general. Been too long since we had a team that could move the ball down the field without feeling the urge to kick themselves in the nuts every other down.
  11. Doc, TD very much wanted Cowart back. He was on record as saying as much on a few occasions, and he wasn't happy when he left for the Jets. I'm not trying to say I don't like this signing...I love it!
  12. Well, I guess we'll see how he turns out, man...But some of those arguments you're making are the same ones we heard about JP and Trent coming out of college. I remember Kiper talkign about how good Trent was, it was just that his receivers sucked, or his offensive line sucked, etc. Same with JP. I don't want another college QB we have to make excuses for as to why he fails in clutch situations. I want someone who can overcome that crap and get the job done.
  13. lol, as soon as our first pick is made, I won't give two craps about Mallett....but until then, I can't help my crusade lol
  14. It's stupid for a few reasons. First of all, he can't do any better than #1, which is where he would be drafted this year. All he can do is the same or worse by staying in school. Second, we have no idea what is going to happen with the new CBA. He could end up earning a fraction of what he would have made this year by coming out. Third, as much as I agree with Tolstoy about education, there is no age limit on when you can complete it. Fourth, life happens. There is no guarantee that he will not be injured on or off the field, in some unforseen or unfortunate manner. And lastly, the simple fact is that when you have the opportunity to become a multi-millionaire, you TAKE IT!!!
  15. See, that's just it. He plays well at times, obviously. If he didn't make a great throw from time to time, or pass for a lot of yards from time to time, he wouldn't be considered one of the top QBs in college. But when he has it there for the taking, he can't get it done. He sucks on 3rd down, he's not clutch at all, and he tends to throw picks at the worst possible time. I just don't consider that playing well enough to win...
  16. I see it totally differently, man. He had the chance to play well enough to win. He had the game served up to him on a silver platter, and he choked it away.
  17. Now we know that Ryan Mallett isn't the dumbest QB in college football.
  18. I don't remember "almost TDs" counting in the actual score. You guys are funny.
  19. I have attempted and failed to get back into the gym several times over the past few years (due to back injury), but I used to be very much into working out and building my strength. I don't recommend doing this right away, but as youre in the beginning phase of getting your body used to lifting again, read up on supersets. I am a firm beleiver in this technique and I achieved excellent results with it. There are different variations on this concept, but the one I liked the best was antagonistic supersets. I also believe in tiering-down your weight as you work a particular body part. For example, say you're doing a bench press. What I would do was start with a weight I could do about 8-10 reps with. I'd complete that set, then cut the weight by half and do additional reps until I hit fatigue (with a spotter). Sometimes I even did a third tier-down and would maybe just use the bar for as many additional reps as I could. I would end up with a pump like you wouldn't believe. Just make sure that you get plenty of recovery time in between the days you work each body part. Recovery is key. I was working each body part intensely only once every 6-7 days, and that was a good amt of rest for me. I hope you'll keep this thread updated with your progress. I really miss having a muscular physique...really hoping to be able to tolerate gym workouts again soon.
  20. Yeah, possibly so. A friend of mine did mention that the church had allowed access to exorcism documents previously for some book that came out on the subject, but I have never seen or read it. Either way, it'll be interesting to see how this show pans out.
  21. I wasn't going to see Toy Story 3, but when I read the description of the plot I thought it was brilliant. Now I cant wait to see it. Have it next on my netflix, so just need to get a few movies watched and sent back. I heard it's a pretty amazing film.
