  1. Well, I thought it was Austin Powers, but maybe Jim knows something I don't? lol
  2. "Allow myself to introduce...myself" What movie is that from? Anyone?
  3. Oh, and his number is available and waiting for him, too
  4. Heck yeah! Now that you're a professional writer, that would be a great piece! I helped get a new planar forum started over at the audio circle, so we could get your story pinned over there, and I'm sure the magnepan users group at audio asylum would love to read it, too
  5. I really didn't know much about the kid, cause I'm far more familiar with the SEC teams and players than I am the ACC ones, save for Ga Tech (since I live in ATL). But a while back on local radio, they were talking about this kid's stats so I wanted to know more about him. Based on what I can tell so far, the guy would be a great fit for our team. He's a dominant presence, he has a crapload of tackles for loss, and he can get after the QB. He's got good size for a pass rushing end at 6'4", 280, and I don't THINK he's got any character issues or off the field problems. What's not to like?
  6. Well, I use the term "heroes" loosely, obviously...there's only one person I "worship", but I understand the point you're making. I am old school when it comes to how we view our sports heroes, though, and I don't really have any desire to take such a cynical stance as you apparently espouse yourself...not that there's anything wrong with that. There are a lot of factors that ruin sports these days, but my first "hero" in pro sports is someone who actually DID live up to the hype and expectation, and continues to do so today - Dale Murphy. Jimbo made mistakes when he was younger...I know all about them. My ex girlfriend used to attend many of the parties he had at his Orchard Park residence back in the 80s, and they weren't exactly the sort of event that would be condoned by someone like, say, Nancy Reagan lol. But Jim fessed up to his issues and appears to have grown up a lot since those days. Favre is a 41 year old man with a family...he should have known better.
  7. Didn't you have a friend who was looking at Maggies a while back? Did he/she ever pull the trigger? I don't know how much interest you have in this, but my understanding is that they give factory tours at the Magnepan headquarters. Since you live so close you should check em out sometime and put that camera of yours to use I've spoken to several of the folks at the office, including the director of marketing, Wendell Diller. They are good people...very cordial and professional.
  8. Amen...I still can't believe how much of a let down V was...I was really excited when I first heard about the reboot, so hopefully you're exactly right about this being a more fulfilling version of an alien/sci-fi series. Using Noah Wylie in the lead has a good feel about it, so I like that casting decision...should be interesting!
  9. I wanted to resurrect this thread to let you guys know that the greatest speaker company on earth - Magnepan - has just come out with another fantastic speaker. This new model, the 3.7, is the successor to the speaker I own, the 3.6r. The 3.6 has been around for 12 years and, along with the speakers mentioned earlier in this thread, has been considered among the best speakers at and above its price point. I purchased my 3.6's about two years ago and have loved every minute I've spent with them. I don't have any desire to upgrade just yet, but at least now I have an upgrade path to focus on when the time comes. The 3.7 is already receiving rave reviews, and I expect many more to follow. And while these speakers are not inexpensive by any means, Magnepan has models starting as low as $300 (I also own a pair of those, which I use as surrounds). One of the best things about this company is that it's based in the good ol' US of A, so you can be proud to spend money with one of the great American companies. If any of you guys are in the market for new speakers, I highly suggest you take a trip to your local Maggie dealer and give a listen http://news.cnet.com/8301-13645_3-20026702-47.html http://www.theaudiobeat.com/news/magnepan_mg37.htm http://www.avguide.com/article/magnepan-announces-the-new-magneplanar-37-big-brother-the-17
  10. I'm glad ur not running the team, man, cause you probably would discard any rookie who didn't produce in his first year. Chan has said multiple times that while CJ has all the talent in the world, he just hasn't hit stride with his learning curve yet. Some rookies take a little time to adjust to the NFL before they become playmakers. We already had Freddie and Marshawn when we drafted the kid, so as Dean pointed out, it obviously wasn't some immediate need to give him 200 carries his first year...he'll come along and he'll blossom in years to come with the proper guidance from Gailey and co. CJ got his feet wet this year, so now he'll grow in the offseason and hit camp next year with a bigger role, most likely. He'll be fine man, just have some patience and let Chan do his thing.
  11. He's also the same size as one of my fvorite RBs in the league, 1000-yd rusher LeSean McCoy.
  12. The more I read about and watch Bowers, the more I want this kid lining up for our defense. The guy is a frickin monster! As much as I love it when we have a productive offense, I like it even more when we have a stout, dominating defense.
  13. I'll see your "balderdash" and raise you a HORSEHOCKEY!!!!
  14. Brett really disappointed me with this. He has been my favorite player in the NFL since our boy Jimbo retired, and I always held him up on a bit of a pedestal. The guy had a great career, a beautiful wife, healthy kids, and a legion of adoring fans. But I'm sorry, the guy is just a pig. No excuse for this. I would have never even THOUGHT about disrespecting my wife and family that way, let alone Jen Sterger. I've been one of his biggest supporters for extending his career and staying in the game, but now I'm glad to see him go. Just another one of the long list of heroes who fail to live up to the basic expectations of a loyal fan. *sigh*
  15. I'll pretty much watch anything with aliens in it, so I'm pretty psyched about this show. This should help fill the latter part of the gap before the next season of Walking Dead, since I know a lot of us are in major withdrawal. Check it out... Falling Skies
  16. Exactly. First pick needs to be a front-7 difference maker, preferably someone on the Dline.
  17. That's exactly why I wouldn't want to spend our first pick and billions of dollars on the kid.
  18. I wouldn't be upset about that at all. I don't want him at #3, but would love to see him in round 2.
  19. Right on, brother It's hard for me to not see the benefit in a loss, cause I'm a huge believer in building through the draft. I wanted to see effort and growth this season more than I wanted to see wins. Next season I will have different goals and hopes for this team, but for right now it's all about this upcoming offseason and the draft. We gotta find some PLAYERS, BABY!!!
  20. I definitely don't want the team to lose, and I also feel that a higher draft slot doesn't necessarily assure us a better player, but I DO like the fact that we would have just a little more control and flexibility with the draft the higher we pick. There are so many potential defensive studs with first round grades that I would really like to see us keep our first pick and then put some sort of package together to get back into the first round. Sort of like what they did to get McCargo, but this time hopefully making a smarter pick. It also may be smart to try to move back a few spots and pick up another top 30 player that way. I'll be happy as a pig in slop if we hear a name like Dareus or Bowers when the Bills are on the clock. I'm pretty much just rambling now....that is all
  21. Any of you guys who own a Foreman, you really should get the griddle plate. I was in the mood for a ham and cheese omelette, so I wanted to see how well it worked with that. I bought some Black Forrest ham and some sharp cheddar, mixed up my eggs, put a little butter on the griddle, and out came one of the best non-omelettes I've ever had lol. I couldn't keep it formed in the proper shape, but didn't matter....it sort of came out like two egg islands....but DANG was it tasty. I have used this grill every night since I bought it...this is the perfect item for a single guy who can't cook worth a damn lol.
  22. I refuse to acknowledge this place until Weird Al is inducted!!!
  23. Very cool, thanks! That sounds like a pretty interesting forum.
  24. Me too. I don't know why, but I have had a good feeling about this kid since we drafted him.
  25. I love that site...been learning from that guy for almost ten years
