Shawne Merriman tweets "exciting news for bills fans"

Yep, let's hope this isn't Marcus Jones pt II -
Was going to go to a movie, but ended up watching the Back to the Future trilogy on cable, lol. I was surprised how much of it I didn't remember. We flipped over to Dick Clark's special around 1130, but as soon as I heard the phrase "New Kids on the Block performing with the Backstreet Boys", that pretty much ended that. Actually, that's not true...we did watch a few more minutes and saw Jenny McCarthy slutting herself out to the highest bidder in Times Square...then we changed it. What has this show come to, anyway?

We all know darn well you were talking about chef!

Ordinarily I would be really pissed if we blew a top 5 pick on a WR, and I really do feel we need to go front 7 on D with that pick, but having seen most of AJ Green's games I know this kid is a legit difference maker. He makes amazing catches and he's a clutch performer. He's got a strong work ethic and this GA team would absolutely suck if he had not been here this season. I wouldn't be upset if we traded Lee and picked up AJ.

If we were on the verge of competing for a superbowl, I'd be all for it. I'd rather keep going with the younger guys in our case, though

I agree with is list for the most part, but putting The Expendables on his 5 worst list is a chick move. This guy is a pansy ass little girl. Stallone, Crews, Statham, Lundgren, Li, and co could sit around holding hands and singing campfire songs, and I'd watch it and like it.

"Falling Skies"...New Show from S.Spielberg.

Good point...hadn't thought it through that far lol You're exactly right about Fishing with John...I thought for sure Jarmusch directed that, but guess not! I felt as you did...I have pretty much liked all his films, so aside from "Law" being clearly in the top spot for me, the rest of them could easily have been shifted around. I used to rank Mystery Train a bit lower, but saw it again recently and really enjoyed it. I love that you just never have any idea what's going to happen next in a Jarmusch film. You can call him lots of things, but "predictable" isn't one of them -
Yeah,I didn't want to take any chances of being assaulted by the neighbors lol. It sounds really good, though. I rented theLast Airbender b/c of the reviews of the audio quality, and it was very impressive! I didn't watch the movie, just a few choice scenes...it pretty much convinced me that I can live w/out a sub for the time being running my mains as "large" and letting them play lower than they're accustomed to playing.

Amen! Amen again!

The smaller Maggies absolutely need a subwoofer to get much below 45hz, but the larger ones (3.6, 20.1) can hit into the 30s. I sold my subwoofer before moving into my apartment a few months ago, and I was fearful that my HT experience was going to suffer. While it's not the same as having my beloved SVS subwoofer, I'm getting plenty of usable bass to where it's more than satisfactory. It also depends a lot on the amp you use. I have 400wpc of nice, clean Butler power feeding my 3.6s in a true biamp configuration. I have some tracks I could put on (eminem and 50 cent, in particular) that have thumping that you can feel in your chest, even without a sub. Maggies used to be more for the folks who prefer jazz and similar styles, and less for people who like to rock out. That's not so much a concern anymore. These speakers give up very little in terms of dynamics to traditional box speakers anymore, except for in the low end, which you mentioned. If someone is after top level dynamics and max SPLs, then Maggies are NOT for them lol. But for the rest of us, they are the perfect speaker. That's also a great point about set-up. Maggies are typically less expensive in terms of their price:performance ratio, but they need a capable amp (receivers need not apply), at least 2.5-3' from the front wall, and some room to breathe. One of their most inexpensive models, the MMG, is a great starter Maggie...it is very light and easy to move, and it gives people a great chance to play around with placement in their room in order to find the best location. I lived with them for 2 years and loved every minute. Pair them with a subwoofer and you have a fantastic 2-channel system that will blow away just about anything else you could get for the same money, IMO.

"Falling Skies"...New Show from S.Spielberg.

Dang, I keep forgetting to rent that one....thanks for the reminder! I LOVE Jarmusch's style of direction...the only time I started to wonder if he was screwing with me was during a (seemingly) twenty minute stretch in "Stranger than Paradise" where he filmed John Lurie lying around on his bed lol. Aside from that one scene, I've loved everything else he's done. Where would you put Limits of Control on your "best of Jarmusch" list? So far mine would rank as follows: 1) Down by Law (one of my favorite films of all time...Roberto rules!!!!) 2) Night on Earth (Roberto rules even more!!!) 3) Mystery Train 4) Dead Man 5) Fishing with John (this series is hilarious at times!!) 6) Ghost Dog 7) Broken Flowers 8) Stranger than Paradise Still need to see Limits of Control, Coffee and Cigarettes, and probably a couple of others I missed. -
As much as I liked the steak version, I just had the chicken one tonight. I applied it a bit liberally, and may tone it down a bit next time, but that was DELICIOUS. I melted some shredded monterey jack over the top...very satisfying meal

IIRC, Scott (SDS) had some Mirage omnis that he was pretty happy with. And yeah, the Totem guy (Vincent something or other) is a pretty unique fella. I've always been fond of those little Totem arros, though. Very small footprint, precise imaging, decent soundstage, etc. Definitely on my short list of best speakers at or under the $1k mark. That's awesome...I loved my few years with the studio 100s (v.2) a while back. Great for both HT and music.

Hey man, compared to Jim Jarmusch, my favorite director, Peter Jackson is hasty and impatient! lol -

LMAO....how much more you got in there? What about Cloverfield? Exorcise those demons, dude!!! Actually, I tell you what, War of the Worlds was one of the top ten most intense experiences I've ever had in my home theater. The sound effects in that film scared the BEJEEEEEEZURS outta me. I know a lot of people didn't care for it, but I geeked out to it big time...same with Cloverfield. If you have the chance to watch either of those in a home theater with a big, bad subwoofer and a projector, it's tough to beat. Grab a beer, kick off your shoes, and crank up the volume....good times! Tom mentioned District 9 earlier in the thread...that film is easily one of my favorites of all time. I'm really looking forward to seeing it for the third time in the near future. I heard there was talk about making a sequel to it, so if they do then I hope Peter Jackson is on board....if not, it may be crap. -
PSBs are fantastic. The big canadian speaker companies - Paradigm, PSB, Energy, Totem - are all excellent, IMO. Fez and I both started out with Paradigm products, and I think Fez still has his...they are very, very good. I have never heard the Ascend speakers, but they have a very good reputation among those who participate on the various audio forums. This is really a great time to be into home audio and HT....lots of amazing products, especially for the money. Another company you guys may want to check out if planars aren't your bag, is DeVore Fidelity. I know the owner (friend of a friend), and he's a great guy. He is based in NYC and although a few of the drivers are European, the cabinets, crossovers, and manufacturing are all from the US.

Get it all out, my brother...we're here for you -
Did the bus swerve over into the other lane to take out the snowman? I don't understand why the driver resigned either.

"Falling Skies"...New Show from S.Spielberg.
ajzepp replied to ajzepp's topic in Off the Wall Archives
If that ends up beign the plot for Falling Skies I know for sure I'll be tuning in! I never even made it to the damn finale, lol...I ended up moving right around the time it started up again, and by then I was just like, "scrwe it..." I sort of feel like I'm falling for the same thing with The Event. I had just enough interest at first to give it a chance, and then just BARELY enough to get through the last episode before the break, so it wouldn't surprise me if I end up bailing on this one, too. For some reason it takes a lot for me to stick with a scripted show on tv...I really WANTED to love "V", but as you pointed out, the minute I saw what they did to lovely Morena's beautiful hair, it just didn't look promising at all lol. She was so amazingly hot on Firefly/Serenity... I think what it is that I don't like is a show that gives the impression they are figuring out stuff as they go. That's why I tend to respect a guy like Josh-what's-his-name who wrote Firefly and Buffy and all that. He seems to have things pretty well worked out in his head, and then he goes and puts strong dialogue in the hands of good actors, and there you have it - entertainment. With Spielberg on board for this new show, I'm pretty psyched...I think it'll be of quality Oh, I almost forgot...the interesting thing for this next season of V is that Jane Badler is back on the show. She was the Morena Baccarin of my youth...I used to have a HUGE crush on her. When I found out she was a lizard, I was thoroughly heartbroken -
So what you're really saying is you have a raging foot fetish and you appreciate and furry beaver? (I'm just kidding, Bob!!! I swear!!! lol )
