Somebody's been a bit more grumpy than usual lately...
-
I believe Russell himself established the basis for why you don't get rid of a guy like that so early on. He was a master at using people for his own gain, whenever the opportunity presented itself, and then moving on to the next person when the situation called for it. They should have done the exact same thing. They should have milked every benefit they could out of russell, and THEN get rid of the guy after their situation had improved and they had established themselves in a position of strength. There are plenty of examples in survivor history of how, when the tribe wants one person out, there is very little the one person can do to stop it. Instead, they all peed down their legs and lost sight of their brains. Now they are weak, they are positioned to be exterminated systematically by Rob and Co., and it serves their dumbasses right

Okay, that was much, much better... This was a really good show and a few of these folks could really end up being successful in music. My favorite of the night was easily James. This kid is turning into a great singer right before our eyes. He's growing and maturing more from the involvement of these professional producers than anyone else in the group. They have already taught him to reign things in and control his voice, and it's paid off big time. Nice job. Pia may be the most talented in the bunch, but I agree with J-Lo that she needs to work on her presence. But wow, she can really belt it out and I really enjoy ballad-type music where the vocals are center stage. She has a very nice timbre in her voice and I could listen to it a lot longer than 2.5 min, for sure. Casey is sort of falling off my radar...I'm starting to think he's more of a gimmick than he is a talented singer. Lauren did really well, but I don't know how much she's connecting with the audience. She's fallen from grace a bit, but still entertaining and talented. Paul I thought did better with the guitar...he didn't come off as "special" and he did a good job with the track. Naima really brought it...I enjoyed everything about her performance. Thia was okay, but forgettable. Stefano did okay, but again, forgettable. Haley sounded better than people realize, I think. The background vocals and music was a bit loud compared to her vocals, but if you really listen she did damn good. Jacob did well too, although I wasn't really all that into it. I still like the kid, though. All-in-all, SOOOO much better than that crap fest last week. No idea what the problem was, but they are back on track. I thought it was funny how Gordon Ramsay threw Stefano's mom's food under the bus...lmao. I think he thought it was Stefano who made it, cause he said "it's a good thing he can sing". If he knew it was the mom's, Ramsay would have thought better lol.

That's where you lost me, man...I think this is the dumbest tribe in the history of survivor. They make Phillip "Gorilla-Lion" Shephard look like Barack Obama. It was dumb to throw a challenge...dumb to vote off one of your strongest players that early...dumb to vote off stephanie...they're just plain dumb. I'm sorry, but after the merge, players tend to stick with their original tribal loyalties. You have GOT to go into the merge with numbers or you're dead. These people shot themselves in the foot and now they're paying for it, just like Probst said at tribal tonight. They are all dead men and women walking. Rob's tribe will completely dominate from this point forward, and not a single member of the crap tribe will even get a sniff of the last week of the game. I think so, too.

She is, but not as often now that she's been on Stern

I've mentioned battlecam.com a few times on here, mainly because the billionaire creator of the site is someone I find very entertaining. There is a ton of stuff that goes on there that would probably qualify as "something you don't see every day", but this latest episode has quite a bit of back story. Jimmy Derzko is the top rated broadcaster on the site, mainly because he's a drunkard who has a real piece of work for a mom. Most nights they can be seen getting smashed in the general vicinity of each other, with some very heated exchanges taking place between them. Typically Jimmy just takes the verbal abuse...and takes, and takes, and takes. After all, it IS his mother... ...but apparently he finally hit the end of his rope. Forget About a QB this draft and STACK the D
ajzepp replied to LoveTheBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I actually think it's pretty clear that SB winning teams have solid defenses. Just listing their rank doesn't tell the whole story. NE in 2001 may have had the 24th ranked Defense, but they had a defensive genius who knew how to strategize and exploit an offense. The game plan was to protect the ball and play solid D, using a scheme that confused Warner and the Rams, and it worked. You list N.O. as having the 25th ranked D in the league, but it's pretty clear that it wasn't until Greggo was brought in and they started playing better on that side of the ball that they won it all. There aren't a lot of examples, especially over the last twenty or thirty years, where a team with a great offense and crap defense won the SB. Teams that win the SB typically are very solid on that side of the ball. To a lesser extent, IMO, SB winning teams typically have a franchise caliber QB. So there we have it...to win the SB, you need a franchise QB and a dominant defense. Git'r'done. -
March Movies: Battle L.A., Sucker Punch, Rango....

It seems to be holding up well in terms of the critics...has a 71% on rottentomaoes.com as I'm writing this...that's not bad at all. -

haha, well it was around the time when my brother first started working in the theater. One night I was about to watch Unforgiven and he asked if I wanted some popcorn. I said, "sure, that would be great". A few minutes later he came back with some popcorn that tasted almost identical to what you get in the theater. I asked him where he got it and he proceeded to take me over to kitchen where this giant hefty bag was sitting on the counter. He said that when they finish up for the night, they take all the extra popcorn left in the bin thing, stick it in a garbage bag, and then someone gets to take it home. On top of that, the theater "butter" came in this giant plastic industrial-looking container that could have held anything from anti-freeze to vegetable oil, for all I knew. It was very concentrated and just looked nasty. My brother is one of the most picky eaters ever, so why he was ok with this I'll never know...but every time I see popcorn at the movie theater sitting in that glass bin, it makes me nauseous. -

Yeah, I know...my brother is a GM at a Regal Theater...a significant part of his bonus is based on concessions. I know they don't make squat off the tickets, but that's still ridiculous for a coke lol. The least they could do is use a plastic cup so that I could re-use it at home -

Aikman: Cowlboys had one of top ranked Ds in league Young: Didn't get to and win SB until they revamped Defense and it became a top ranked D in the league Elway: 0-3 in SBs until the Defense became...anyone?...a top ranked unit in the league. Brees: Got to the SB when Greg Williams came in and built one of the top ranked defenses in the league. Rodgers: GB had one of the top ranked Ds in the league this year. Warner: one of the very few examples of a QB who won a SB with an average to below average D...but then they lost in their 2nd SB against a team that had a hall of fame D coordinator BigBen: Steelers one of best defenses in the league Peyton Manning: Didn't make SB until Tony Dungy improved defense Jim Kelly: (as much as it hurts) Came close in first SB when Bills had strongest D of their four teams...lost to a team with better D Dan Marino: No D, no SB Dan Fouts: No D, no SB Drew Bledsoe: No D, no SB Philip Rivers: no idea what's wrong here Obviously a strong QB results in wins, but I still feel the D is the more important factor. I'd rather have a great defense + Fitzy than a crap defense with Peyton Manning. It seems to me there are more examples of teams with avg QBs and strong defenses winning SBs than there are teams with great QBs and crap defenses. Brad Johnson, Mark Rypien, Jeff Hostettler, Trent Dilfer, Jim McMahon (sorry, he wasn't that great) -

Hell, Im usually still in bed at 11am. I don't mind the ticket prices as much as I do the concessions. I was traumatized by movie popcorn back in 1992, so I never buy that anyway...but $5.75 for a damn coke is nuts man. -
It was more the outspoken one I didn't like. I'm just a big believer in treating people you don't know with respect, and they really rubbed me the wrong way during their first season so it's stuck with me. The dinosaur skeleton was awesome, I agree. I would have liked to see the ginger goth girl try to put that thing together...that would have triggered another meltdown in record time!

Maybin called out by Gailey yet again
ajzepp replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"We tell him all the time how to get there. He's got to do it." If this dumbass isn't putting in the work, then I hope Eric Wood takes him out back and has a "come to Jesus" meeting, as they say here in the south. That quote is a huge red flag, and it's basically Gailey stating that Maybin doesn't have any sort of work ethic. That's very disappointing. -

ajzepp replied to LoveTheBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree...stack the D with talent from the lines backward and we will start to win games. Defense wins championships. Period. -
Damn right! BTW, just as a side note...the movie Unstoppable was awesome. That is all.
-
I hope so...not only because it's fun to watch them squirm, but also because it's sort of a mental test for myself, because I know that would absolutely be the hardest challenge for me to get through. I'm not really much for the world's delicacies lol
-
that line got me, too....Marlee has a great sense of humor! I think the best line for me was from that Jeselnik dude...looking over at the other roasters, he goes, "just LOOK at this dais...you've got an accused rapist, a bank robber, a pot smoker, a murderer...and eight white people." Then the joke kicks in and you realize there are only eight white folks and snoop sitting there
-
Speaking of facing their fears, it's about time for them to have to eat some nasty animal parts...fear factor style!

Was there ever any doubt? Nikki Taylor may not be the most assertive woman on earth, but she sure is purdy I still can't believe how much of a old bag Dionne has turned out to be. If dust shot out of my cooter every time I sneezed, though, I'd probably be a bit grumpy too... I didn't know who that Hope girl was before the show started, but wow is she beautiful
-
Yep,that was definitely me, and I was glad to see those ungrateful, disrespectful, stuck-up beyotches get booted from the race. I laughed when Phil said how things just didn't go their way and the one chick said, "things never go our way"....serves ya right! You treat people like crap, karma is a B word. I love how they said, "we're trying to win a race and our cab driver just decides it's time to stop for gas." Really? So it was just the cab driver deciding on a whim to stop and get gas? Had nothing to do with the car actually NEEDING gas? Maybe cars just run on air in their snooty-ass princess world, I dunno...but sooner or later cabbies need to actually put gas in the vehicle for it to move. Although I have to admit, getting out of the car in huff while the guy was pumping the gas and making condescending hand gestures was worth a shot...that may have made the gas flow a little faster in other countries. I agree with you and Rico...that challenge at the end was a bear!

Those are the Zooperstars...they were on Americas Got Talent a few years ago...they made me piss myself
-
Wow, the moon here in north Georgia is bright as hell. It almost looks like I could reach up and grab it. Very cool.
-
The whole locker thing has been really interesting for me. I have only seen the guy play twice, and that was this past season. Last year, he was all the rage and everyone was hoping the guy would come out in the draft, etc. What a fall from grace! He's gone from being potentially one of the top prospects in the draft to some lunk head who can't hit the side of a barn lol.
-
Right, but my point is this: What exactly do you expect to be impressed by when a guy is just out there playing catch? Even against lesser competition, what he can do in the face of a living, breathing defense is far more indicative of ability than throwing routes by himself to uncovered receivers. It's not so much that they have pro days that I take issue with. I'm sure they're a great way to spend time with the prospect and get to know him better. What I take issue with is the absurd stock that so many place in these things. It's laughable when there are reports about how so and so was impressive during their pro day...how can they possibly screw that up??
