Adrian Peterson..."modern day slavery"
ajzepp replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Okay, that's it...I'm not reading any more of these threads until after this labor issue is settled. The players are major dickfuks and I'm sick and tired of the realization of just how detached and out of touch all of these folks are. When they get back to playing football, I'm ready go to...until then, all these people - players, owners, etc - dont' exist in this dojo. Modern day slavery...give me a break. Peterson just joined Favre on my "players I really used to like, but not anymore cause they're fuktards" list. -
Yeah, the interview was definitely a little odd...I'd be curious to know more about his work ethic. The more I read about how Torrell Troupe is just plain bringin' it in the gym trying to get ready for next year, the more I'm reminded how important solid work ethic is. When it comes down to hitting a few extra reps in the gym or watching cartoons, will Dareus be mature enough to put work first? How badly does he want to succeed? To what degree is he getting by on pure size and talent? We have a lot of dedicated, hard-working players on this team...we need to continue to foster that work ethic, not set off a lazy bomb right in the middle of it. I've seen Dareus play a fair bit, I just don't know much about his character.

Oh yeah, big difference between his American shows and his BBC shows...totally agree. He's almost like a different person, but then again we know that Americans need a bit more sensationalism in their entertainment than the tea-drinking Brits do lol. What I respect about Ramsay is his insistence and expectation of quality. He's all about simplicity and doing things the right way from the beginning, and I love how fast he gets on people who attempt to take shortcuts or go outside of what he considers acceptable production. The guy is clearly more of a showman on his American shows, but I don't mind it so much. I have had indirect experience with his efforts on his Kitchen Nightmare show, and I've been assured that he really does legitimately turn around those failing restaurants. They invest a LOT of money in those restoration efforts and I believe quite a few of the places he's turned around have stayed turned around. That's pretty cool, I think. But at the same time, the show can really scare the crap out of you in terms of choosing restaurants to eat at. I worked as a server/trainer for five years but I was fortunate enough to work with owners who had very high standards. But some of these places Ramsay visits are DISGUSTING!!

Not sure if any of you guys saw it, but the Donald was roasted on comedy central tonight...I missed the first part, but the hour of it I did see was VERY funny! This one guy, Anthony Jeselnik, I have never heard of in my life....but he killed it! If you guys get a chance to see it, check it out...some great Trump humor!!!

Yep, that article bothered me a little...another TBD'er said that they felt Dareus was the Dline equivalent of Big Mike Williams. He's sort of like a big kid who doesn't seem to properly transition to the adult game of the NFL. That has sort of stuck with me for some reason...if we do draft him, I hope he's the real deal...we desperately need our first pick to have a huge impact.
-
We don't need the best Dlineman, we need the best pass rusher. If Dareus can't do that, then screw him. We already have Troupe to be a space filler type. I'd rather go with Bowers if he's still there, otherwise I'd look at Fairly or Quinn.

March Movies: Battle L.A., Sucker Punch, Rango....
ajzepp replied to Mark Vader's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Good point, I definitely agree that if he's always on the screen that it can sort of get overwhelming and lose its novelty. I guess we'll see how he handles things in Arthur...the previews didn't look that good to me, but it's hard for me to imagine that all of a sudden the guy won't be funny. It sometimes doesn't even matter what is written for him...it's his delivery and expressions that can really get you. I also find the guy very sharp and witty, even though his image is the exact opposite. When you watch him during an interview he clearly has a lot going on upstairs. Not as much as someone like Robin Williams, but he's got the synapses firing. I thought the scenes in Sarah Marshall where he was interacting with Jason Segel's character were some of the funniest I'd seen in a long time. Instead of having the typical mano a mano type thing or some sort of confrontation, Brand was trying to bond with the guy and even console him and offer relationship advice lol...that was great. -

March Movies: Battle L.A., Sucker Punch, Rango....
ajzepp replied to Mark Vader's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I'm starting to think I'm the only person who finds Russell Brand HILARIOUS. I was laughing hysterically at almost every scene he was in during that Sarah Marshall film. A lot of people didn't care for Get Him to the Greek, but again, I thought he was hilarious! Can't wait for Fast Five...one of my favorite film franchises of all time and always a lot of fun to revisit at home with the surround sound -
lol, maybe this "show" isn't really meant for entertainment as much as it's meant to be training videos for future reference!

Yes, except the comforter doesn't change sizes

Was that arbitrary or is there a story behind it?

I would like to know, too...they are two of my favorite posters, as well...miss their presence on the board.

Seriously, what is up with this chick? I've been a casual fan of hers all my life....I remember watching her when I was a kid and thinking she was like the sweetest person on earth...she's coming off as a self-serving, mean-spirited JERK. I hate saying that about a woman, but wtf is up with her? She treated Lisa Rinna like absolute garbage and for no apparent reason. I was glad when Trump mentioned how the concept of the book was a big reason why they lost...put that beyotch back in her place. She needs to chill. I was laughing aloud when the guys were watching on tv from the room and trump said how the concept was too mature for 4 and 5 year olds...and then Little John comes out of his seat with food still in his mouth and says, "CAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW WHO THE *BEEP* THEY ARE YET!!!" And what is with Jose's blinking? Busey rules.

Heck yeah, I'd love to see a 2 hr Amazing Race! That show is non-stop action from start to finish each and every week...they could easily make it two hours a pop. And I agree about 'Boss', too. These are nothing more than advertisements for companies anymore...it seems way too set-up and it's lost it's charm. I tell you what I'd like to see instead is more Gordon Ramsay. I think he may have fallen out of favor a bit in the US, but I find this guy one of the most interesting people on TV and I enjoy Kitchen Nightmares and Hell's Kitchen. And I also agree about Mallory...that one red headed cheerleader could learn a LOT from that girl. She loves life, is always in a good mood, is very friendly and respectful, and clearly loves her dad. mmmhmmm....*tapping foot*

True on both counts The fact that she made beds look like that means she took a lot of pride in her job as an RN. Patients really appreciate that, so I respect the fact that she did that for them. One of these days I'll have to try those 1800 tc egyptian cotton sheets to see what the fuss is all about...I've seen some of those things going for like $800 a set! It's like a big pillowcase that you put the comforter into. One one side it buttons up and it helps keep the comforter in good condition. Just like sheets, there are all sorts of different levels of quality. This one from Thomas Lee is worth every penny, IMO...and I would have never considered spending $200 on a comforter, let alone a duvet! But I've seen the light I'll have to keep a close eye on you...

Some of you guys know about and/or have participated in the Sleep Apnea thread we have going on here somewhere...I've had sleep issues all of my life, and a big part of the problem was my apnea issue. I've been using BiPAP (like CPAP) since around last July and it's completely changed my life. Anyway, I've always been a believer in having a good mattress, especially since it's something you'll be using for 1/3 of your life for however many years you have it. I've always tended to go on the cheap when it came to bedding, however, mainly because I really didn't know anything about egyptian this or pima that...and it's really just not something most guys care about typically. Well, that's all changed. I've made some bedding-related purchases lately that have me looking forward to going to sleep for the first time since I took a discus to the head back in the 8th grade. My usual M.O. is to stay up as late as possible until the very brink of when I can get the least amount of sleep possible and still function the next day. And since I've been on the BiPAP, that number is usually about 4.5 hr. Well, since I've upgraded my level of comfort significantly, I'm getting closer to 6.5hr each night and loving it. I didn't get a lot of help from the TBD community last year when I was thinking about getting some better quality sheets, but you guys aren't really to blame since I'm sure most of you didn't know any more about them than I did. But through my research I eventually found a company called Thomas Lee. They had glowing reviews of their stuff all over the place, so I ordered a pair and love them. Recently I wanted to find something else to use as a bed spread other than a blanket, so I hit the web again in research mode and came across the perfect comforter. I tend to get hot when I sleep, so I wanted something that would not trap all the heat in, and something that was light enough to use in all climates. I came across some comforters that were 100% mulberry silk on the inside (i.e. the fill), but light cotton on the outside. I then went back to Thomas Lee and ordered one of their Duvet covers to go on the comforter. The end result? I'm sleeping like a King. I spent far more on bedding than I ever figured I would, but considering how much use I'll get out of it, it's a great investment. This is an area of my life I will never take for granted again. I know some of you guys can pretty much sleep standing up, but I'm the exact opposite. So for all you guys (and gals) who are like me and tend to really not like bed time or the constant struggle to get sleep, consider going with a comfort makeover...you'll love it! Here's some links to the stuff I got in case anyone is interested... Best comforter EVER Never knew what a "duvet" even was! Pima cotton sheets rule!

NFLPA tells players to boycott draft
ajzepp replied to Johnny Hammersticks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really thought when they filed the extension that they'd get this done and we'd all be able to move on. One week later it's devolved into a complete joke. Everyone involved should be embarrassed by this, especially the players for leaving the table. -
well it's certainly not the MASS market...I bet if we did a poll on TBD, it would be less than 10% of respondents that would ever consider paying that much money for a movie that was 1) just in theaters, and 2) about to be on dvd in the next month. Maybe there is some niche market that they've identified who just CAN'T WAIT another month to see the same movie for $4 or $5 instead of $30...but in this economy and with all the available entertainment options out there, it's really hard to believe.
-
I'll tell you what's REALLY stupid, and that's DirecTv's plan to offer premium movies - titles that have been phased out of the theater but not on DVD for another month - through their streaming service for THIRTY BUCKS A POP. Who the heck is going to pay that?
-
I do stupid things all the time, but I don't make a habit of touching "molten" anything lol I grew up around a very Polish extended family, so I was exposed to all sorts of cabbage arrangements growing up. I can see why that would have an impact on how a particular area smelled, for sure.

Ah okay, thanks John....it didn't make sense that this guy was running around stinking up the entire country

Oh, I have no doubt it burned like hell! I wasn't being critical of her reaction to the burn, but to the decision to touch it with her hand to begin with lol. They take it out of the cooker thing right in front of you and the clue had the word "molten" right on it. What is kimchee? Do I want to know? lol
