+1 on the short shorts...those are some amazing legs!!

I totally agree with you guys about Matt. This is the one season where it really won't matter, assuming they play out this M v W thing for a while before the merge. So far I'm enjoying this season...and I haven't missed Redemption Island like I thought I would.

I honestly totally missed the game, but Italy was without a few of their top players, but we were as well, from what I understand. I did read that Jozy Altidore has grown a TON under Herr Klinsmann so far, and his game is becoming more complete. He had the assist to Dempsey for the game winner, I believe. Even without Italy's top guys, though, this is a statement win for us. We've never beat them from what I understand...EVER. So while we can't make more of it than it was, it's without question a sign that our approach is already evolving under Klinsi. I have no doubt that this team will become a solid contender on the world stage within the next 2-4 years. I know not everyone is behind Klinsmann, but give me a break...the guy brings more credibility to the position than we've ever had, save for maybe Bruce Arena. But I'd take Klinsmann over Arena any day. There will be some growing pains, but I love that we pulled this off. Kudos to the USMNT!!!

My problem with the puzzle challenge tonight was that it had the exact same pieces in the exact same positions, and each team's puzzle was visible to the other team. The girls were clearly looking over at the men's puzzle, and that appeared to account for how they got caught up so fast. This relates to an issue I have with Amazing Race, except on that show it pertains to a willingness to share info. I just don't feel it's right when you can copy of another's work. The men should have found a way to create a visual barrier to their puzzle or something...a human wall, I dunno. There was a rope they were seemingly asked to stay behind, though, which may have made that impossible. But there were like three or four shots where you saw the women looking at the men's work and saying, "the long skinny ones go in the bottom left, and the round one goes toward the top on the right". As for the men's tribe. I thought they were more cohesive than that, but wow, what a mess. Somehow Colton has become the rooster of the walk.

lol, I wouldn't have it any other way

You guys are awesome...seriously. For not having met any of you in person, you're the best friends a guy could ever have Thanks for the PMs you guys have sent, as well. Today has been a better day, for sure.

Heck yeah it does...great little device I can totally see why someone could be perfectly happy that way. The amount of programming on Roku is staggering and they are adding new (free) channels all the time. Just a great product.

I would have to agree that shes' overrated when you consider how much people have gone gaga over her. I think it's just that she's physically my type, if there is such a thing. My last two serious relationships were with blondes, but the whole dark-haired Latin/Italian/Mediterranean beauty thing just does it for me. And I would love to see the Hillbillies win. I love watching those guys work together and support one another...it's fun when you have these teams who are train wrecks, and whose relationships seem on the brink of destruction every single leg of the race, but I also like when you have the team that is always positive and appreciative of the opportunity. I loved it when one of them enthusiastically yelled out, "oh man, we might be number ONE!!" I hope next time they do finish team number one

Thank you guys (and gals) for all the support. As much as it hurts, it's comforting to know that there are others who understand and have been through it. It's also so amazing to me that so many people love their pets as they do. Thanks for helping me to not go through this alone.

I know some people don't like it when others start threads like this, but I could really use some support right now since I know a lot of you can relate to this sort of pain. One of my dogs, a little Bichon named Fozzie, passed away today about an hour ago. He was 16 years old, but up until a week or two ago you'd never guess it. He's been my little buddy for the past 16 years and making the decision to let him move on from this world was literally the hardest thing I've ever had to do. He really had a rough week, and then this weekend he really took a turn for the worse. I took him over to the vet today and he was found to be a pretty sick little guy. He was in renal failure, had a severe bout of pancreatitis, and most likely prostate cancer. The vet was going to start him on fluids and antibiotics and then call met later in the day to let me know how he responded. I got a call around 430pm that his temperature had dropped another two degrees and he was really in bad shape. When the vet told me she didn't think he'd make it through the night, I couldn't handle the thought of him being there alone by himself should he pass away. I went back over to see him, spoke with the vet there and also a good friend of mine who is a vet in Chicago, and then decided to let him go. I got down close to him, held his head next to mine while I petted him, and he very peacefully went to sleep. Right now I feel at peace with the decision and I truly do feel that he's in a better place now, but at the same time I feel as if part of me is gone. I haven't been able to hold it together all day and my stomach feels like it's one huge knot. I truly loved my dog and this is honestly breaking my heart to type this right now. If anyone feels like offering some support, it would really mean a lot to me. Even if you don't want to say anything here in the thread, a PM would be great. I know that I'll be okay with time, but right now I'm broken and hurting pretty bad. He had a really good 16 years and I'm proud of the way I took care of him. It's just killing me to have to say good-bye.

Well...I can't really argue that, cause you're right about being in the same place. I dunno, I guess I just get sick of not having enough Zombies...I felt a little more satisfied in that regard over the last two weeks. I feel like it's moving in the right direction, I guess. When the cop guy was on his back with the zombies on top of him and couldn't get an angle on the top-most walker, I loved how he put the gun in the mouth of the nearest one and blew away the third through the back of his head...just like last week when the zombie pressed his face through the broken windshield to get at the girl, even though the glass was tearing away his face in the process. That's the stuff that makes the show cool to me and I like to see it
-
Yeah he did lol...I thought it was funny how his (female) co-host considered it a badge of honor and was jealous SBC chose him! Ryan is such a nancy....
-
I'm a huge SBC fan, too...I had no idea he was in it. Can't wait to see it now! By the way, anyone else see SBC as "The Dictator" punk Seacrest on the red carpet?

The Hillbillies are awesome! I still wish they would implement a rule where you cannot cooperate with another team, but I'm glad Brenchel is still in the race. Sooner or later they'll really clash with someone and it'll provide some entertainment. Anyone else think the lady on Team Divorce is super hot? I think her name is Vanessa...she looks a little like a poor man's Eva Longoria to me.
-
Really? Tonight felt fresher to me than it had been...of course, that may just be relative. I liked that the two bulls finally got around to mixing it up a bit. Also was glad to see more zombie action...could have done without the mini-drama with the wrist cutting, but oh well. Anyone know why Darabont is still listed as a producer of the show?
-
I didn't watch it straight through but saw most of it...I figured the Artist would win a lot, even though I haven't seen it yet. I wanted to see Gary Oldman win best actor, cause the guy routinely turns in fantastic performances year and and year out. I'm not much of a Clooney fan either, but I recently saw him on Inside the Actors Studio with James Lipton and I have more respect for him now than I did. Seemed like a bit of a hypocritical douche in the past, but he's matured a bit. I do tend to like his films for the most part now.

Wow James Lipton as a guest judge tonight...how cool was that! Tonight I was bummed that Corolla wasn't around, and I hope Dee's finger doesn't force him to leave the show, but MAN was there a lot of infighting and drama lol. I love how passionate Lampinelli is, and it's great seeing her call out people when they are slacking. I was hoping one of the scrubs on the womens team would have gone home tonight, but I can live with the decision. That Dayana Mendoza woman is AMAZINGLY hot...seeing her on that horse leaning back like that...wowza! As for the guys, Ferrigno was doing great until Penn had to say who he would theoretically bring back to the boardroom if they lost, and then Lou came off like a major dbag...Penn handled it well, but I'm glad that we have some potential for the rest of the team to not like Bruce Banner when he's angry Loved that chopper that Paul brought to the show...never seen a bike like that in my life. George Takai is money. Need more Corolla, so hopefully next week picks up where tonight's show left off...whoever put this cast together was very smart...these aren't just recycled celebs makign the rounds on reality shows...these are celebs who bring some game and some attitude...I dig it

I thought the babies at home/mid-wife thing was nuts too until one of my closest friends out of college becaame one. Now she's a midwife nurse practitioner (I think that's the correct title) and she impresses the hell out of me. As for the alams, I know in some of the ATL hospitals they have some pretty new technology in place but I don't recall what it was exactly. If I were in the situation with the Kennedy, my role would be to block his path as best I could without becoming physically aggressive, stay close to him, and calling security on my phone to report position.

The doctors creds? You mean his degree, his license, and the laws that define and govern his (or her) scope of practice? Nurses have the exact same set of things. My scope of practice is very clearly defined by the Nurse Practice Act and the board of nursing for my state. That's the basis for why I feel as I do about this issue. A lot of RNs and LPNs (Lower Paid Nurses) go to schools where the education is task oriented. One of the (very few) advantages of going to one of the best schools in the country was that we had a focus on management and leadership. I used to believe as you did, that docs were my superiors. It's simply not the case, and many RNs have no idea how broad their scope of practice truly is. I'm sure the DOCS often think they are our superiors, but unless they are in my direct chain of command, they simply aren't. Hospitals have CNOs, Chief Nursing Officers, who report directly to the CEO. Typically beneath him or her would be the Director of Nursing. Then you have the assistant DON, followed by the unit managers, and then after that it's typically the assistant managers and/or the charge nurses. That's my chain of command. Do they have a higher level of status? Of course they do. They have more education and they (usually) work longer hours, and of course they earn more. They deserve their status, without question. But my practice is not defined by them. Nursing and Medicine are separate, but complementary, practices. In the scenario at hand, if there was a doc with Kennedy, it would be the rules of the hospital (and the state) that would rule...not the docs directives. I remember one year we had a drill called a "code pink", which meant that a baby was missing. When that happens, staff are to block all stairwells, elevators, and exits. NOBODY is allowed to leave their location until the code was clear, and anyone who had a bag, suitcase, etc was searched. Well, during the drill, the CEO himself pretended as if he were leaving for the day. He walked right out the front door with his briefcase and whoever was watching that location allowed him to walk right by since, well, that was the CEO! After he was allowed to leave, he turned around and came back to the door, opened up his briefcase, and inside was a doll representing the missing baby. (They would usually do that until the doll was found, indicating a successful drill.) The point being, it doesn't matter who you are....when a baby is missing, you are not above the law/rules.

I agree with almost all of this. Having worked in hospitals for ten years, I can tell you that there is no bigger issue than infant safety. Protocols for the movement of newborns in and around the hospital are VERY strict. That is typically made very clear to parents before, during, and after the birth of their baby. As for RNs deferring to docs due to a hierarchy, HELL NO. Docs are not my bosses, they are my colleagues. If they are administrators then that may be a different situation, but generally speaking RNs are independently licensed just like docs are. In fact, it's often times the opposite. It's the RNs who have to keep the docs in line, particularly with things like gowning/gloving up when entering the rooms of pts with resistant bacteria, washing hands, signing off orders, and even the manner in which they treat staff. When I was a supervisor, I had a situation where a doc was mistreating one of my nurses by mocking her accent. She was from Romania and a very sharp, experienced nurse. But the MD had been called in the evening and wasn't in the mood for the call, so he lashed out. It affected her the rest of the 12 hr shift and I was pretty pissed. I let the doc vent on the phone, wrote down multiple quotes, and then threw his asss under the bus to administration. The next day when I came on shift, I was told that the doc had come up to the floor and sincerely apologized for his actions. So heck no docs aren't my superiors. I base my care on what is appropriate for the patient(s)...a professional RN doesn't just follows docs orders "because". If youre worth your credentials, you are an independent thinker and keep things in proper context. Nothing is more embarrassing to me than some old school nurse who bows down to docs and treats them as if they crap golden rainbows. People who think the same way I do are a big reason why the RN profession has become as independent as it has, and why we have been given more responsibility than ever before in terms of patient care. It's also partly why we earn significantly more than we did twenty years ago, IMO. I respect the fact that this idiot wanted to "go for a walk" with his son, but if you don't follow the rules in the hospital then you will be asked to gtfo. There's way too many liability issues nowadays to tolerate cavalier behavior. By the way, where the hell am I?

Nerds rule the world, brother...I figured that much out

Ohh, okay...lol

I'm just not sure what "one episode" you were talking about. I'm not a fan of the show, but wasn't that a montage?
