When I moved to California in 2000, I moved from Buffalo to Walnut Creek, CA via Amtrak. The deciding factor was that at that time, every box I loaded up, no matter the weight and size, was $10 per box. So 11 boxes with all my stuff crammed in for $110, it was a no brainer. I ended up getting a sleeper car on the train, and that was a game changer. No way I could have spent 3 1/2 days sleeping in a chair. The dining car was superb with great food. I was smoking at that time, and they had a dedicated smoking car which made the trip that much more enjoyable. All in all it was a great experience and I definitely want to take another long train trip again. Wife and I have talked about Via Rail in Canada through the Canadian Rockies.

Often my band has a lower set fee, and a tip jar while we are playing. So like if we are being paid $300 by a bar, we'll put out a tip jar. On the gigs we're paid $600, the tip jar stays home.

Most of my and my wife's friends, a start time is merely a suggestion. So if someone says we'll get going around 6, if someone shows up at 8, it's all good. We know there's work, kid, or other commitments that would prevent most people to get there right at the start time. So we just say to start showing up at such in such a time but just get there when you can.

Last years band. The Wingfest staff haven't updated the entertainment portion of the site for this year.

If it was reversed, I would be wearing black pants and thankfully for the rest of the band, we're playing outdoors. But since it's band on Saturday and Hot wings on Sunday, I'll be wearing black pants, and thankfully for the rest of the band, we're playing outdoors.

I was selected to compete in the Atomic Hot Wing Eating Championship at Wingfest this year. Contest is Sunday, Sept 4th. My band will be playing on Saturday, Sept 3rd at Wingfest. I be going to Duffs for their suicide wings, because we're talking about practice.
