When I lived in California I got on a California roll kick. So I stopped into a Sushi restaurant to have said California roll, but when I came time to order, I ordered raw shark. With soy sauce it wasn't half bad, but of course I've never had it again.

I went to Canada for beer again, and this time it was FAR different!

Nexus for the win! You still have to register on ArriveCAN when going into Canada. I get to the border cop and he asks me why I didn't use the Nexus lane. (They had just closed it). 30 seconds tops I spent with him. On the way back, I crossed the Whirlpool Bridge. Nexus cardholders only. Have my Nexus card scanned in Canada, gate opens, cross the bridge, scan again in US, border cop doesn't even ask for my ID. All my info is right in front of her via my Nexus card. Told her I was bringing back some beers received as gifts, she asks me to roll down my back window, takes a peak, and asks if I got any IPA's. I said I don't know. She gives me a hard time for not knowing what I got, so I replied I was only interested in the Rush Golden Ale! I then went and told her that one of the beers I have had Habanero in it, she literally takes out a notepad, writes down Wellington Brewery and says she's going to look it up when her shift was over, and on my way I went! -

I was given the bar mat, a bunch of guitar picks with the Rush Golden Ale logo on one side, and the Henderson Brewery log on the other, the Moving Pitchers coaster, and a Golden Ale sticker along with the beers. Edit: I also got a Golden Ale bottle opener for my key chain. -
I have a good friend who is in the beverage industry in Ontario. When he heard about my dislike for Rush Golden Ale, he reached out to the rep for the brewer, Henderson Brewing. The rep admitted that the very first batch of Rush Golden Ale was flawed and should have never been released. I got the first batch. The rep felt bad that I had the first batch, so she gave my friend Stan (Who is the rep for Wellington Brewery) a 6 pack of the revised Rush Golden Ale and a 6 pack of other Henderson Brews. And of course Stan gives me a nice assortment of Welly Beers. But I went for the revised Rush beer. Just cracked open one, and damn! Is it ever smooth and extremely pleasant to drink! It is a mighty fine beer after all!!! I’ll report back on the weekend when I have the Welly “Raked Over” IPA with Mango, Pineapple, and Habanero!

Definitely the Rush Golden Ale! BTW: The distributor for Henderson Brewery told a good friend of mine who works in the beverage industry that the first batch of that brew was flawed and should have never been released. I have a brand new case waiting for me in Toronto, courtesy of Henderson Brewery. Picking it up on Tuesday.

I had one last night. My wife and I were parking at the new stadium. Of course, no stadium was built, but there was already a parking sign that read, "New Stadium Parking", and in the background was the CN Tower and Mt. Fuji.

Will Hammers Lot be open for the Garth Brooks show?
Draconator replied to Draconator's topic in Off the Wall
Thank you! -
You really want me to drink heavily, don't you...

First off, I'm seriously looking forward to seeing Garth! Me, my wife, and another couple want to tailgate before the show, and me thinks Hammer's Lot would be the perfect place to do so. I messaged Hammer's Lot without a response so far, so thus the question if anyone would know if it will be open for the show, rules for attending, etc. Thanks!

Reminds me of when I registered my wife's work website, and forgot to make it a private registration. Within minutes of it being registered, we received over 50 calls from India asking if we needed a website.

I may have to agree with you that the city limits do have something to be desired. There is the Elmwood Strip which is vibrant. Chippewa which is a young person party spot. (I wouldn't want to be walking down Chippewa at 12:30 am on a Saturday night at 55. Too peoplely.) BUT, the surrounding areas is what makes Buffalo, Buffalo. My band played Music on Main tonight in Williamsville. Great turnout, great vibe! Buffalo is one of those places where you can leave the city limits and be in the suburbs in mere minutes, or in the county within a half an hour. There are a lot of advantages to living in the Buffalo AREA. If I need me some downtown, it's relatively a short drive compared to other cities. If I want the country, same short drive.

Sabres schedule released. They open at home against Ottawa and close out the regular season at home against Ottawa. Can't remember that ever happening before. (1st and last game against the same team in the same building) https://www.nhl.com/sabres/news/sabres-announce-2022-23-regular-season-schedule-nhl/c-334823980

There was one baseball aspect Geddy did get wrong. That year A-Rod was a free agent leaving Seattle. I asked Geddy where he thought A-Rod would sign, and he thought he would sign with the Dodgers.

Not only could he name every World Series winner from the early 1920's, but he knew the nicknames of each and every winning team. He is truly a walking baseball encyclopedia.
