All-22 of Bills-Jags from Cover1
Coach Tuesday replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Peterman had as many INTs in four plays as Tyrod did the whole game, against the league’s nastiest secondary. -

Why would you think Dennison was “the NFL’s best chance” to design an offense around Tyrod? Dennison is literally one of the least imaginative, most inflexible, tone deaf OC’s the NFL has ever seen. -
Seahawks may embrace a college style offense

Arizona should bring in Tyrod and do the same thing. With that defense and David Johnson, they’d be really exciting to watch. And good for Carroll thinking outside the box - kinda the opposite of McD hiring Dennison to fit a traditional timing offense to Tyrod... -

I would be ok with that, though I’m still not convinced they’re planning to draft a QB. I could see this regime talking themselves into passing on a QB and focusing on other parts of the roster to build around an Alex Smith. My biggest issue with Alex Smith is that he runs a horizontal offense. He works the 5-7 yard area better than any QB in the league but he also demonstrates a maddening unwillingness to throw it past the sticks on 3rd down. He needs WRs who can separate and get YAC. We have zero of those... I really don’t see the fit. And if Shula is the OC it’s a horrible match. Good luck running “seven-step drop and chuck it” with Alex Smith as your QB. -

Some of that is on Wilson, who became addicted to freelancing. Much of that is on the offensive line, which struggled so badly in pass protection that it dramatically limited the types of plays they could run, and forced Wilson to abandon the playcall time and time again. -

John just take back your statement that Peterman would’ve given us a better chance to win the Jags game and I suspect we’ll all be good. -

When Woods left I said here over and over again that we’d feel his loss most in the running game. I was right. Run blocking is an underrated part of what receivers do but on a run-first team, I find it shocking that McBeane hasn’t prioritized it more. -

Does it bug you at all that multiple coaches have tried to replace him? -

My comment actually was referring to his lackluster run blocking. He just stood there. -
I give him credit for holding his coaches accountable but McD and Beane completely bungled the offense last offseason, from personnel to coaching. The Pegulas give their management folks two chances - as they should. Third prize is you’re fired.

If McD hires Shula, McD will be out of a job by 2020. He won’t survive to hire a third OC.

A dark horse candidate for OC...

His offenses are notoriously uncreative and he can’t design a running game to save his life. This would be an AWFUL hire. -

I'm glad the accountability that McD preaches for his players is applied to coaches as well. I'm also glad that 90% of us proved that we're knowledgable fans, yet again this season. Most of us on this board could tell pretty quickly that Dennison lacked creativity, was unable to tailor his offense to the "talent" on hand, made poor in-game adjustments, and lacked a feel for playcalling. We were right.

John, you've gone too far on this one. Peterman would've "gotten debacled" in Jacksonville, as Emmitt Smith would say. -
I guess the Rams want to preserve their 2017 offense for 2018 and they can probably afford this next year because Goff is on his rookie deal - but they have to pay Donald, and eventually will have to pay Gurley. This kicks the can down the road by one year for them, but then they have decisions to make in 2019. For Watkins, it essentially means another one year "prove it" situation, with a decent chance he's playing elsewhere in 2019.

I thought this was fascinating, not because it's about Tyrod (we have a zillion threads about that) but because it's rare for the GM/CEO of one team to be commenting about the personnel of another team. It also suggests that Tyrod might have a hard time finding a starting gig if the Bills cut ties. http://www.packersnews.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/2018/01/09/fourth-candidate-confirmed-packers-gm-search/1018451001/ “Doug Whaley really did a job with the interview,” Murphy said. “I think it was not confirmed, but he was the fourth interview. I knew him a little bit, so I enjoyed having a chance to spend some time with him. I'm a Bills fan, so I follow the Bills a little more closely than some of the other teams. “But he put together that roster, and it's a playoff team without a great quarterback. It made the playoffs. They have a good roster."

Interesting about that play in particular - looking at it again in those clips, Ty seemed to think O'Leary was going to run a wider route down the seam, but O'Leary ran more of a post and that's why the throw was so far off. I assume the error is Tyrod's because your best chance of success is to lead O'Leary back toward the middle of the field, but it's far from certain whose fault that was. -
