  1. I’m still waiting to hear a single person say, “I totally support and agree with the message, I just hate mixing sports and politics so I’m going to boycott it.” What an amazing coincidence that the “separate sports and politics” crowd uniformly disagrees with the politics. Crazy how life works!
  2. He says he doesn’t think the Pats will be able to overcome losing four linebackers. But then ends with kind of a “we’ll see.” He always overrates the ex-Pats players and coaches - does it every single year. He’s a huge homer.
  3. If you read the rest of my post... And he picks Brady and the Bucs to go to the Super Bowl.
  4. What “triggered” me Bill was that we’ve had about 100 threads in the past year about how athletes speaking up for social causes is inappropriate, ruining the game, and causing folks to tune out. We did not need another one. This has been discussed ad nauseum. We are now one week away from what should be a very exciting season of Bills football and we did not and do not need yet another thread saying the exact same thing, which by the way are always started by posters who just happen to disagree with the political message at issue. We get it - some of you cannot stand the message and will tune out. Just do it already and let the rest of us enjoy the season.
  5. King worships the Patriots. He always picks the former Patriots coaches to win in their new gigs, until they faceplant which they nearly always do. King also admitted last year that he finds the Bills boring in response to a question about why he doesn’t give them more coverage. I’m not a big media bias guy but in this case, it’s basically admitted.
  6. Big hitter, The Lama.
  7. Never have I seen someone brag so much about so little.
  8. Gailey gets his waterbug.
  9. Turns out he lacks speed.
  10. Guess they decided he’s worth the $40 million.
  11. Believe it or not I think Herndon their TE is going to be the focal point of their offense.
  12. Maybe wait for dessert to spring that one on him?
  13. Probably @BillfromNYC I think he's still mad at me. I probably owe him a burger and beer.
  14. Thanks for doing it!
  15. Um, don’t hold your breath brah, the world has had “issues” since, like, the Snake and the Apple...
  16. Thank you for your service and courage (seriously). TBH, if I had fought for this country I’d be even more dismayed with the current state of affairs. This country is a MESS. It’s a mess on all sides. The cities and infrastructure are crumbling. The national debt is skyrocketing. We have under-educated our population for decades, resulting in tens of millions of adult-aged morons who lack meaningful job skills, let alone critical thinking skills. We chose pensions over progress in the 70s and many parts of the country (Buffalo is a prime example) are still suffering the consequences. We no longer create wealth at the rate we once did. Something as simple as fixing a school or a subway requires greasing so many politicians and unions that it’s financially impossible. We reject science on all sides of the political spectrum. We are obese as hell, we subsidize corn products to fatten people up and then subsidize fixing the resulting health problems. And we have an unqualified morally and financially bankrupt leadership class that cannot respond productively to the challenges of our times. We are third-world. Honestly at this rate we are a decade or two away from being Lebanon. This country is TRASH right now and it’s a damn shame because we should be the best country in the world. We got fat and lazy and stupid and we paid into pension plans for government employees instead of investing in our kids’ future. Yeah I’d be damned furious if I fought for this crap.
  17. And part of the reason for this is that we are OBSESSED with race in this country. It dominates other things (on both ends of the political spectrum). There are millions of folks - some in this thread - who work crappy jobs with no prospect of advancement, are routinely lied to by the politicians they support, and are utterly laughed at and disposed of by corporate America - and yet they cannot get their minds off of anything other than racial grievances and the idea that somehow, in some way, they are being held back because of someone with different-color skin. And in the case of the far right, no matter how much their politicians lie, steal and cheat, at least it’s better than a brown-skinned person getting to do and say what they want, take their jobs, compete for their women, etc. These thoughts dominate the American mind.
  18. I’m anti-union (I view unions as the single biggest impediment to progress as a society and believe unions for govt employees should be outlawed), pro-corporate, and completely against economic safety nets. But yet according to some of the zombies in this thread I’m a left-wing zealot. Go figure!
  19. The problem is that they DON'T talk to each other online. They talk AT each other online, and TO like-minded sub-communities.
  20. And yet you joined this thread specifically to respond to me ?
  21. It’s not idleness, it’s lack of personal connection. What liberal professors and right-wing internet tough guys like Joe have in common is that neither group lives in the real world, neither group interacts with real people from diverse backgrounds. Instead, they congregate virtually and/or in self-selected groups of like-minded thinkers. And the lack of connectivity has been exacerbated by COVID, which has made it that much harder to connect. There are few things worse than the tyranny of a closed mind.
  22. So long as Canada and your mom’s basement have internet access, we will still be in touch, though.
  23. And there’s our resident fascist, on cue! Don’t worry Joe, I may indeed be moving abroad.
  24. Oh I believe you’re the majority. I have little doubt that The Great Divider will win again. He’s the President this country deserves. That’s because this country is trash. As for you - you don’t seem like someone who is disengaged. For someone who claims to be phasing out football, you spend a lot of time here. For someone who claims to be against mixing politics and football, we sure hear a lot about your politics.
