  1. That's a really good offer from Beane's standpoint. McCaffrey was never going to be on this team beyond this season. Even if he agreed to rip up his deal, there's no way CMC would have agreed to a new contract that would fall in line with what we'd have been willing to pay a RB especially given his wear and tear, reliability, and the amount of key players coming up who would take priority while other contract numbers go up. Surprised to see he'd go as high as a 2nd for a one year rental. Shows he really tried.
  2. Motor is NOT going anywhere this season. I don't care if he's in the plans next season or not. McCaffrey is only coming in as an addition to Motor. Not to take his place. Beyond the fact that McCaffrey cannot be trusted to stay healthy and as such, would leave us with Moss and Cook (who could be good eventually, but is not taking to the game as quickly as expected) - Motor is a BELOVED member of the locker room. To remove him right now en route to the Playoffs would make players unhappy. We'd be looking at CMC to add to our room and replace Moss. Taking away Motor to add McCaffrey would still leave us with only 1 trusted RB (which is where we are now anyways) and one that we could lose at a moments notice.
  3. I don't know what he's looking for but he was insulted by LA's offer which implies to me that money is, if not the most important thing, definitely up there. And I can't see Beane paying much for the length of time he'd be here either.
  4. Skip Bayless brings up a point that I've thought about this from the beginning - Von Miller is just trying to create a market for his friend by threatening the league that OBJ will be added to our already stacked team and keeping his name out there. I personally hope it's real and that he will be coming here. But given his talk of the money not being good enough in KC, I find it hard to believe he'd come here for what we'd be offering.
  5. You're not giving up on a guy you spent a 2nd Round pick on and have under a cost controlled rookie contract after 6 games. That's insanity.
  6. Between the different reports earlier this week and the report released today, it's pretty clear he already picked up the phone. The problem is not what it would cost us cap wise this season. The problem is what Carolina is asking in compensation and what it would cost us beyond this season if we wanted to keep him. Given his injury history and lack of reliability, we'd only be interested in him for this season to try and get over the hump, if he can stay healthy (and that's a BIG if). If they're looking for "significant compensation" - it doesn't make sense for us and won't get done.
  7. If they're looking for "something significant" as in a 1st Round Pick - they aren't going to be able to deal him. No one's going to give that up for a RB with his wear and tear and the fact that they'd have to pick up a massive contract if it goes well beyond this season. I have little doubt that we were one of the teams referenced that were "rebuffed" because the offer wasn't what they're looking for. If it's anything more than Moss, a 3rd next year, and a 5th in 24 for CMC and a 6th in 24 - it's not going to get done. Beane's not dumb. And he's not going to spend more than that for a guy who is more likely than not viewed as a 1 year rental.
  8. Save for an injury or injuries coming at the exact time he's ready to come back - probably not. He was brought in to come off the bench and maybe work his way up the depth chart when we were down Dane Jackson and Christian Benford with Tre White on PUP. But now by the time he's ready to return, we'll have Tre White, Christian Benford, Dane Jackson, Kaiir Elam, and Taron Johnson on the field. No place for him. Maybe he sticks around on the Practice Squad - but he missed his best opportunity to see the field.
  9. Totally. Singletary being involved in a trade is a no go. Beyond the fact that he's one of the most beloved guys in the locker room and you don't want to mess with locker room chemistry right now - CMC is not going to be an every down back. And he's quite possibly the most injury prone RB (or even player) in the NFL. If we made a move for CMC with Singletary on the roster and Christian were to go down, no harm no foul. But if he were to go down and we moved Singletary as part of the deal, we'd be left with Zack Moss, James Cook, and Duke Johnson down the stretch. Woof.
  10. That's just it. Even if we make a move for CMC - it's for this season only. A one year rental to help us get a ring. Much like LA did with OBJ and Von last season. We can't afford to keep him beyond this season even if he delivers. It's not in Beane's DNA to pay big money to a RB. Especially one with the wear and tear of CMC. And doubly so with the contracts we have coming up after this season juxtaposed with the raise in cap costs for some of our core players. So given those facts, we're not giving up anything more than a 3rd and a late rounder next year - tops. Preferably less.
  11. A 2nd and Devin Singletary? Ha! Get the hell outta here. I'm not giving up a 2nd alone for McCaffrey. Let alone give up our best RB and a beloved locker room player. Singletary needs to be here this season if we have McCaffrey. If CMC gets hurt, and the odds of that are VERY high, we're left with Moss and Cook. And neither have been very good this season. The offer is Moss and a 4th. Or a 3rd or a 4th this year, late rounder next year. Maybe you could talk me into Moss and a 3rd, but that's the most I'm doing. Anything beyond that and they can go kick rocks.
  12. If they want Moss and a 4th, deal. Otherwise, I'm not giving up more than that for a one year rental that we'd have to pay big time to keep beyond this season.
  13. You can't be serious. Trading a 2nd Round pick with all the tread left on the tires after only 5 games in the league and could develop into a great RB for a guy with an absolutely INSANE injury history, almost completely worn tires, and will decline quickly? Absolute insanity.
  14. No f'n way are we giving up a 1st Round pick for a guy who can't stay on the field that we'll be renting for a season.
  15. Queen's 'Don't Stop Me Now' was the perfect choice of song to cut to commercial on after that James Cook TD. "Don't stop me now - 'cause I'm having a good time, having a good time!"
  16. No way he's moving a 1st for a veteran RB with worn tires on a high priced contract. He won't even use a 1st on a young one with a cost controlled deal. Could I see him making a deal for Barkley? Sure. But in no way does it involve a 1st.
  17. Von Miller. Greg has been very good. But watch the blocking. Von is doubled up pretty much every play. This allows Greg to eat.
  18. Have a feeling that's exactly what happened. Watching him play for the Bucs confirmed to me what I already suspected watching him last season and seeing no one want to give him a spot on their 53 this offseason - he was done.
  19. I think people were wrongly reading into how ready and impressive Christian Benford was as a 7th Round pick and translating it into Kaiir Elam being unimpressive instead of thinking we drafted not one, but two good CB's.
  20. It's time for Cook to not fumble or drop his first possession EVERY single game.
  21. Falls in line with exactly what I said in the post above. Reads like they won't even activate him off PUP this week. Most likely next week. Get a week of practice in, then the study work and light early week practice of the Bye, and then another week of Practice leading up to the game after the bye - back on Week 8. I know we're all itching to get him back, but it's really the safe and smart strategy. We need him at its best and healthy throughout the year. So be smart about it.
  22. I would be surprised if we saw him before Week 8. They're not going to put him out there without some practice time with the team coming fresh off being cleared and having no Training Camp with the team. There's no way they'd play him this week. And with the Bye coming up Week 7, why rush him back Week 6? I don't expect them to activate him this week. I see them activating him next week. Give him that week of practice and then the light work of study and practice during the Bye, another week of Practice leading up to Week 8 and then he's in.
  23. Honestly, if you'd have told me with no injuries that we'd walk out of the first 4 games against the Rams, Titans, Dolphins, and Ravens with a 3-1 record - I'd have been pleased with that. Given the absolutely insane amount of adversity they've had, you have to be thrilled. My concern is the injuries keep piling up. Every game we're losing multiple people and others are getting banged up. Even when we get people back, we're then losing others. At some point if we're to win it all this season, we need to put some games together where we're not having key players getting hurt.
