You forget how good that team was. That team was 11-5 and had won 5 road games that year. That Bills team could out-muscle just about anyone. The only team that could get as physical as we could was Tennessee. We had just smoked Indy 31-6 a week earlier & even Polian admitted the Bills were a bad matchup for his team. Yes, Indy beat us in the 1st game of the season at the dome , but so what. Also, Jax was on their way down, Tenn just beat them up. That 99 wild card game still is the most physical football game I had ever seen.

By the way, you Armchair GMs,

Ummmm...there was Mark Wahle and Marco Rivera, both from GB, who are both playing very well for Carolina and Dallas, respectively. Wahle plays LT and Rivera LG. Either would have looked real good in a Bills uni. -
Actually, even Polian said the winner of the Bills-Titans game would probably have been the AFC Super Bowl representative that season. I base my opinion on what Polian said.

Thats definately an issue. But I think PW would still be productive in 3-4 years in limited circumstances. In 3-4 years would he be worth the $$$, maybe, maybe not. But this year he sure would have been. As another example, take the Red Sox. If they had paid Pedro this offseason, they may have repeated. In 1-2 years, Pedro will be useless, unless he closes. But sometimes you have to see the here and now, versus always planning for a future that may never come. Take you shot. We needed an uber-defense this year for JP to succeed (See Bears, Chicago). We don't have that. Also, as a side note, we went for it in 1999, and I respect John Butler so much for that. If that play in Tennessee is called properly, its Bills-Rams in the Bowl and there's not too many of us on this board that wouldn't suffer through a couple 3-13's for just one title.

TD has done some bad things but...

TD gets a pass from me on that one as well, and I am one of his biggest critics. We needed OL, the choice was McKinnie or MW. I advocated for McKinnie, but was thrilled we picked MW. -
Kansas City Pitt Denver Dallas Seattle Probably in that order. Honorable Mention to Philly.

I disagree. Considering how much we have struggled vs. the run this season, it should have been a necessary move from both standpoints. I'm not sure thats entirely accurate. Gandy was paid barely above the vet minimum. Holcomb's contract wasn't a killer either. Also, the release of DB saved some money, as did not re-signing Jonas. A contract or two could have been re-worked (MW?). Barring that, your choice basically would boil down to PW or McGee's extension (rememnber, we had the room to do that deal on this year's cap). I'd rather have had PW and been 4-4 or 5-3 right now and deal with McGee in the off-season.

Man, I wish we had a guy like that on the Bills. All fire & brimstone, but backing it up as well. TD, please get us a guy like that!! -
Bruschi (We're not worthy!)

As long as Peters can play LT, thats about how I see our line developing as well.

Yes. Just once. Please. Before I die. I promise, no more cigarettes when we finally win one.

Bad idea to even say that!! Good luck to your niece. -
I agree, but Gandy would be a great backup T, kind of like Marcus Price. LaDarius, do you believe that Geisinger could be ready to take over the LG spot next season or do we need someone else there?
-
LOL! Thats wonderful!! I agree wholeheartedly. I say I have never, nor will I ever, see anything like that again.

Sara - Wilson is just plain hot!! -
It makes me madder than hell that we didn't sign PW. This team would be a legit playoff contender with him.

I was in the stands with my Godfather and Mom. After Houston scored to make it 35-3, we were joking around saying "Well, we only need five touchdowns to win, yeah like thats gonna happen." Then we score. Well now its down to four, (more snide laughter). Then the onsides kick, we score again, (ya know, this just could be possible). D stops Houston, we score. Lets go Buffalo!!! It was such and exhilarating rush of a game. I walked out of the stadium, saying "Noone's ever seen a game like that." Simply amazing. That game is why when we were losing the SB that year by over 35 points, I still felt like we could win it.

I agree Coach, Villy is a tough, gritty player who has struggled with some injuries this year. We need more like him. Last year, he was our best OL. I think the right side is set with MW & Villy, they were very good last year and have simply been injured this season. I think Preston will be our C. The left side, however, is a disaster. Anderson/Gandy take way too many penalties and are simply not adequate. They are both backup material. I hope Geisinger can be the answer, much like Chris Snee was for the Giants. I am very encouraged by the write-up in this thread. I'd love to see Peters work out, as LTs are very expensive and I hope we use our 1st rounder on a run-stuffing DT. Otherwise we may have to sign a LT. Damn, going into the 06 offseason our biggest needs are run-stuffing DT and LT. Didn't we have a couple of guys doing a decent job there back in 04? Just wondering.

I love it!!! Outstanding!!!

Ngata.. sure I'll jump on board. As long as he can hold the point of attack the way Phat Pat did, I'm sold.
-
I'm sure Deltha O'Neal is thrilled, after picking off Favre twice to seal the game for Cinci.
-
He sounds pretty good! You should send it to TD. Have you seen him play?
-
R.Rich, do you think that Peters has the athleticism to play LT in the NFL? I agree Gandy is not that good for a starter, and D'Brickashaw (love that name) would be awesome, but he'll go top 5. We may not be that bad, especially if Houston decides to finally get serious about their OL. What about a real run-stuffing DT in the 1st round, a guy like this... I figure if there's a way Peters can play LT, we could focus FA $$ on signing a capable LG (Anderson is a disaster in pass blocking) and have an OL that looks like this.. LT - Peters LG - FA C - Preston RG - Villarial RT - MW With Watson, we address our Run D, which can only make our LBs better. We can use the 2nd round for a SS or MLB to eventually replace Milloy/Fletcher.
