  1. I cut my son a new plank and give it to him. With stern face for a long time, followed by a warm smile, and a soft hand.
  2. Yep - who ever really can say this or that player is a sure thing? My wife 'n me take a Saturday breakfast at a restaurant. I rattle off the 15 or so collegiate TV games in the sports page listings and she pleasantly listens to me. I probably watch two of them ...max - the rest is channel flipping.
  3. A part of the nice things about WNY. We all seem to crab about the sad state of NYS - but fact is we grew up there, and that is where our memories lie. For most, happy times, I'd say. A reason why folks who, you as I, never forget and get drawn back. I guess they call that "sense of place" or some such. Whatever - it's factual. I'm glad it is. Segue - reconsider these Florida, Mexican, etc. vacations with your kids. Better the Falls, Letchworth, Beaver Island, the Science Museum, the Historical Society, the locks, Parkside Candies, Ted's, Pizza, wings, Chautauqua Institution, Genny Beer, Ft. Niagara, Allentown, sponge candy, Cheektowaga flamingos, Elmwood Strip, the libraries, Bflo. Raceway, and so on. You can do the same in your current locale if you are diasporsa - get yer kids, yourself, into the locality. Forge memories. Acquaint kids and yourself with the area. Make it home in their young minds regardless of travel here and there, outside. Making sure one's kids have roots, good recollection of people and familiar ways is what is to be done, and of vital value when everything falls into the toilet. Same for non-kids. Find and cling to your own rock. We old Baloos still swing a feeble paw in pride of our WNY heritage, and most of you new ones swing your strong ones. Happy to see that. Like Dorothy said as she clicked her ruby slippers - "There's no place like home". So true. Lecture off..or is it Lecture/ ? I'm not contemporary.
  4. Indeed. I watch NFL football primarily to see what happens next.
  5. Thanks for the link. I'll throw a bone in for #8 on their list - Conner Barwin, who that site likes in rnd 2. I'm biased, because I've watched the televised UC games as of late. He was recruited by previous UC coaching staff (this year, largely a senior team - new coach Brian Kelly was a plus but we will see what happens to his currently-shining star next season). Barwin is quick and fast, and strings out plays. Well worth a look. As is UC's DT Terrill Byrd.
  6. Or he might go to the highest bidder for that last signing bonus, and then dog it. That was very much the suspicion here in CIN, re Chad Johnson's summer-long gum flapping trade ME! performance.
  7. Too bad they knocked down Three Rivers. I thought it was OK for football - and its' "roundness" was fine for baseball; everybody more or less faced the action. I went once to a Bisons game (Pilot Field?) with the "retro" lay-out. 1st Base side - spent most of the game craning my neck over my left shoulder. The 3R concessions set-up was tops, too - line up inside the rails along the counter left and right, grab your own food and drinks, then get funneled to the cashiers. Fast 'n easy. Sister stadium Riverfront had the counters where more-or-less lines stood to get service. Much slower.

  9. I use the "upscale" one with the little swing-away guides. I think it's about a dollar and a half more. I get about 3 washings per pad - then it seems to muck things up a bit. To me, it's well worth it to use a new pad when needed.
  10. Nope. Do the higher gloss trim - and let it dry. While painting the trim, a bit getting on the wall is no big deal - you are going to paint the walls eventually. Then the ceiling. If if drips on the to-be-painted walls, wipe it off. No need to worry excessively - you are going to paint the walls. Do the walls last. It's easier to wipe the wall paint off the glossier trim than vice versa. I recommend the Shur-Line paint edger: http://www.thepaintstore.com/Shur_Line_s/1...CFQw9GgodzR0iDA
  11. Trim - ceiling - walls.
  12. R.I.P. "I am #2. You are #6."
  13. Another day older and deeper in debt.
  14. Quite formal. Please hand me Mai Tai, my good man.
  15. Whiskey, syrup, juice and angostura...OK!
  16. Time to break out the Chantix!
  17. They would do well to take a UDFA shot at ex-UC QB Ben Mauck. He's a maniac who sued the NCAA and lost in a bid for a 6th year (long story). No illusions about him being an NFL QB - but has potential as an ST player. The kid is fearless and relentless.
  18. Keep an eye on this kid (Terrill Byrd DT, U of Cinci) in the later rounds. I think he's carrying at least 310 lb. now. http://gobearcats.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl..._terrill00.html
  19. Nor I. Speaking the obvious, he will be in the Bill's UDFA camp.
